Y'all I have a feeling that Chara may or may not have experienced people panicking with their vacuums more than once, just a feeling though...
Been there
It almost always ends in a death anyway
I like using splat bombs as my panic button (if I have the ink for it that is)
That would be me
We all have, we all have
HI
@@zOmBiEc0La no
It's interesting to know how different specials interact with each other.
- Reefslider can instantly destroy a Big Bubbler just by charging through the beakon in the middle.
- Ink Vac can suck up a thrown Ultra Stamp, but it can't protect itself from being charged at by one.
- A single wave from a Wave Breaker will instantly destroy any opposing Wave Breakers around it.
- Trizooka and Crab Tank will deal MASSIVE damage to the armor of a Booyah Bomb.
- If two Reefsliders ram into each other... nothing happens. But it's pretty funny.
if two reefsliders collide the sharks give each other a kiss
@@jonth9200 best comment here
huh I just realized that I've never seen wavebreakers interact in nearly a year of the game
Another tip for tacticooler:
It cannot be broken and still has the ability to block shots, so it could serve as some cover if placed correctly.
I do this all the time on tower control.
Can I just say that, I absolutely love the display at the top showing all specials, and how it turns gold when Chara is discussing them.
Props to whoever came up with the idea. It’s brilliant & really helpful.
thank you, it took a long time to come up with it and make it possible in photoshop
That would be Luci
@@Luci_4k it’s really really cool. I’m sure everyone who watches your videos appreciates those details.
@@Luci_4k It was brilliant
@@Luci_4k your banner at the start of the video was very clever
Another note about wave breaker: The wave goes much farther down than it goes up.
Additionally for Booyah Bomb not being a panic button special; In salmon run it still isn't. Maws can chomp you in mid air (if she is targetting you) and the Steel Eel's hitbox actually goes up a bit higher than you'd think and it just shreds you before you can get it off, and Scrappers will park underneath you too.
It’s only a panick button not for you but for your teammates when they’re all dead and you were on the shore killing a bigshot/stinger/flyfish or something and need to revive them but you know you won’t reach them alive with a steel eel 2 scrappers and a steelhead in the way so you throw a booyah bomb hoping to revive them, they kill the salmonids and reach the quota as you flop to the basket after saving the whole wave where they revive you
Only for the next wave to be glowflies and end instantly
I like that the tips against can serve as tips for using them to be aware of your weaknesses as well
Chara raging about how people use Ink Vac was the greatest part of the video
Tip for Tri-Strike! As seen at 3:57, you can throw the markers through a big bubbler! Don't be afraid to use it to counter a big bubble in an awkward spot, and be sure to have one or two ready to go to cover wherever they may run away!
3:32 as a Stamp Veteran from S2, I agree this is good usage advice.
Also, opponents who panic are much easier to splat, because they are less likely to attempt to shoot you t̶h̶r̶o̶u̶g̶h̶ under your Hammer.
Another tip for defending against Inkzooka: unless you know the exact timing for when the special started, do not leave cover unless you hear all 3 shots. Inkzooka users that are in a good position to fire often delay their shots to catch out people that think the special is over.
Fun tip: Ink Vac does not absorb Angle Shooter, so you can reliably put damage on them or even splat if they panic popped it after taking damage. If Angle gets buffed to 34 damage in Chill Season you can reliable take one out with 3 direct hits from range.
Also a good tip: if your teammate pops vac, get in it! It's free armor and you can make their bad pop a good one:)
5:43 if someone rushes you and you have Vacuum and a nearby teammate, you can pop it and keep said opponent in the vac stream, giving your teammate a free kill. Keep in mind that the Vac stream acts like toxic mist to opponents, and 'misting' an opponent fills your Vacuum at a constant rate.
3. *crab tank* : don’t have stormtrooper accuracy.
fr bro
tenta missles are affected by overhead cover like the sniper spot in hagglefish or undertow so can protect yourself that way, compared to inkstrike which does not care for over head cover. do find going under cover in hagglefish useful since it doesn't ink anywhere and you stay relatively safe (if you haven't got a teammate up there!)
A warning though: the spash radius goes below cover, so you can still be splatted if there are too many missiles.
For Tenta Missiles, rushing back before popping the special will give you more chances to hit more enemies at once, as you'll get more of the map into your reticle. Try to focus as much people as possible with them, being annoying works only if you annoy a lot of people !
Against missles and crab : give up
I am the Sploosh with no range, I give up
With Reefslider you can go over edges and press the explode button shortly before you go over the edge to explode in the air and surprise enemies
Another tip for fighting against missles: knowing where the missile user is in relation to yourself keys you in to how fast they're coming to you. They will hit you much faster if the missile user is closer to you. They also have a decent audio cue that lets you know that you need to be moving. If timed right, you can reduce their displacement and paint impact on the map by not having to dodge the instant the targeting reticle shows up, and grouping them closer together
Hey Chara, just wanted to say that your a big inspiration to me. A while ago I never would have considered playing competitive, but today I’m playing in Low Ink as my first tournament. Your videos are a big reason why I decided to do it!👍🏻👍🏻
Good luck I hope you enjoy it
@@ProChara I did enjoy it, we didn’t win many matches but it was a ton of fun
Since it is becoming increasingly popular in the meta, here are some more tips for Crab Tank. Some are a bit more basic than what Prochara mentioned, but I still don't see some of them utilized as high up as the lower S+ ranks so in case you don't know or are new to using Crab:
1) Going into ball form protects you because you're no longer in the open, and in my own experience I've survived more situations where my crab is getting targetted by balling up rather than staying open. Especially if you get a Booyah Bomb or triple ink strike thrown at you, I've actually survived most of these situations by balling up and starting to roll out of the radius.
2) Kind of adding to the first point, you turn much faster by popping into ball form, turning, and popping back out, and it also disorients those trying to destroy your crab or hit you from the back. So if you're vulnerable from behind (although you shouldn't pop crab if there are enemies behind you and you can help it) or you start to see enemy ink behind you, quickly pop into ball form to turn around. It really catches enemy players off guard.
3) You move much faster side to side than you do forward and back, something I see an astonishing amount at S+ rank is people trying to push forward with crab. Your movement is much faster sideways and in ball form and you probably shouldn't ever be trying to move forward, but try moving diagonally to what you're shooting at instead. Utilize all your movement options! Adding to this you can jump in ball form to avoid things like Wave Breaker
4) Last tip; you can roll up some areas on certain maps that are inaccessible to anyone else besides zipcaster and inkjet and gain access to some unique locations. Another part of this point is that positioning with the crab tank is still important and not arbitrary, don't just pop crab tank anywhere. Along with that it's not a panic button; Study Splatling positioning if you feel like you get killed on your crab tank often and take up more defensive/oppressive positioning with it.
Omg your editor has their own Tag at the beginning of the video as their mark, that’s awesome
It's very nice you mentioned avoiding missiles hitting the splat zone CUZ PLEASE I DONT WANT MY TEAMMATES THROWING TO A REEFLUX
I love how the special badges turn gold when you talk about it that’s so smart 😮
That editor splash tag in the intro is clean
Ye, I really like the idea
So I know I’m getting buried, but Tacticooler can be a great meat shield, ESPECIALLY on Tower Control. Place on one corner of the tower in the direction of fire, and it makes it practically impossible to hit from like 2/3rds of the tower.
Edit: Do be aware there is still a gap from the bottom of the cooler to the floor of the tower, so you can still be hit, it’s just much harder. And blasters can still clear you off pretty effectively. But I still abuse this regularly.
Just wanted to say I love the layout of the specials, it fits so perfectly and the way you can see the special meter through it is so satisfying for some reason lol
another tip for against big bubbler: if your opponent is sticking out slightly or near the edge of the bubble’s shield THROW A BOMB IF YOU CAN!! it detonates instantly and WILL kill them in one hit if you have splat or suction bomb
I have a tip against missiles
The missile marker on you points toward where they were launched meaning if somebody launches them from behind you you can instantly know the general direction of the player
Against missles: don’t let them play
Using missles: Spam them
Using missiles: dont let them play
Here's an extra tip for the crab, it moves way faster sideways than forward and backward so do zigzags when shooting to advance slightly faster.
a bit of a tip i find useful for creb is that using it as an anchor weapon usually gets the most value out of it. might just be for me though.
another tip for booyah, it is sometimes useful to use it as a way to negate a special. such as using the armor to tank a few missiles, inkstrikes, or another booyah bomb entirely.
Just wanna say that the image on the top is amazing. Also, it going around the special meter is such a helpful little thing :)
This video was edited so good! I love how the special badges change to gold to indicate they're being talked about!
thank you!
Another use I found with the Big Bubbler is a free reload whenever I run out of ink, so not only am I defending myself and possibly a teammate, but I'm also giving myself a refresh in the process.
Love the progress bar using the blue/gold special badges to help show what special Chara was currently talking about. Lovely stuff, it both made the video easier to follow while also being good graphic design.
Chara, Thank you so much for your insight when it comes to this series, it really helps out a lot for many people.
You’re an inspiration, so thank you!
2:59 I’ve splatted a crab tank by just throwing a suction bomb when I was facing it and not behind it, so I think it’s also a really good strategy to throw something that insta kills like a splat bomb, like how you take advantage of the enemy splash wall.
for crab tank u actually go faster when moving sideways
4:43 “MOO!” -Chara 2022
Tenta Missiles:
To Use: Just press ZR, lock on as many targets (especially the back lines) and fire.
How to fight them:
Just dodge and hope you don’t die.
;)
I like to lock on to only 1 or 2 enemies that are close to team mates because the teammates can’t see the indicators and may get spatted by their friends swimming near them. For defending , I like to spread out the strikes if I want to paint for special but try to concentrate them on one spot if I just want minimal space being blasted. Swimming away from team mates is important in both cases though
This is a good idea for a vid, looking forward to it
10/10 special design everybody.
Just got to say I love the little graphic you added at the top of the screen so you can tell which special you're currently talking about. Really appreciate it
huge tip for stamper players against big bubbler: charged slashes can hit both the sweet spot and regular damage hitboxes at the same time if you aim slightly upwards from the top part
similarly it or wiper can charge slash a wave breaker and 1shot it
Yeah reef sliders are super vulnerable right before and right after the special, I've stopped several from starting and have even unintentionally splatted them after because they literally slid into my bomb. Also stampers can be great assassin weapons if you use em right, I lured someone into a place with one exit and got them when they tried to spray and pray to find me. They're also pretty good at taking out other stampers if you don't mind some mutual destruction, because you probably aren't surviving if they're coming after you specifically
I feel like crab tank needs a nerf. It has incredible map denial and lasts forever. If you try to break it, its gonna look at you and vaporize you.
The only weakness it has is its back (ignoring head cuz most times you’re not an e-liter) and if you successfully flank it, it balls up, turns around, and blasts you.
Granted you could break it but guess what! the user has zero endlag and can shoot you!
Theres almost no way to punish it and its a better panic button than booyah bomb.
Thanks now my inkjet might last longer than 5 seconds 😅
lol at 5:07 I didn't know there were someone sharking on the right side on that example. Nice way to show what it means to be hidden xD.
Really helpful tip on killer wail! I noticed that sometimes when I ran away from it, it was slower than usual. I didn't know the speed of the lasers was dictated by the player speed. Thanks!
Tip for if you have a tenta missiles on opposing team if they target you stand still until last second or once they have a targeted area so the aren't making as much of a mess
Grinds my gears when people run INTO the splatzone with missles locked on
i love that top part of the vid showing which special ur talking about, really cool detail
Absolutely love this format of video, this and the other one on tips for weapons are fantastic!
As a Flingza main, another tip against Missles is to note which direction the bottle icon outside of the ring are pointing towards. It will always be where the Missles are fired from, meaning you can be more prepared to counter the user's attempt at capitalizing on the pressure.
i really like the fast and to the point format of your videos, as a person with a short attention span, your videos have really helped 🦈❤️
Its so goofy when kids hide in the ink with the tacticooler arrows as if i cant see 'em
Fr. Sometimes I just straight up forget that I’m an obvious target with buffs.
ProChara teaching us how to use the Ink Vac was the best thing ever😂
As an original slosher main, i feel like tri strike is kinda underpowered. Yeah sure you can force everyone of the tower with it, or use it to destroy objects, but i feel like you should be able to swim with it, and some more buffs to it. Just feels like a weaker booyah.
I noticed when describing Crab tank, you didn't mention this detail: As you know, crabs walk sideways, and teh same is with crab tank, since when you walk sideways, you actually go faster, which is useful while shooting.
Great stuff. More people need to see your videos. Especially this one.
Another really helpful tip to protect against missiles, they cannot hit you if you are under grated areas like the mid of Mincemeat, or under the tents of Hagglefish, plus since those spots are un-inkable it also prevents them from scoring turf.
Basically use the maps themselves as cover if you can.
Furthermore, you will know when missiles close in on you After you've been targeted when you hear its own warning sound, meaning that should be a good indicator when to move.
4:33 went from chill vibe to coach yelling at you or something lololol
i love your videos man, it's made me rethink how i play the game and i've gotten alot better as a result!
*Tip about Crab:* You can turn around quickly by going into ball mode, set the camera where you want to be facing (you can make use of the Y button for this), and then return to crab form.
*Fun fact about tenta missiles:* you can dodge them all by just running in kid form.
4:28 that squid looked so happy only to get deleted 😂
I like this video format, it’s to the point and helpful!
One thing I like to do to minimize the impact of tentas is to wait a little when the first circle pops up. The circles follow up faster than they impact, so lingering just a little will tend to cluster the impacts into smaller, more manageable areas. Immediately starting to run when you see the first cirlce on you tends to create these long trails of enemy ink.
Another tip for crab tank: if you move side way’s you move faster, so when your walking forward it’s best to move vertically.
And sorry if my grammar is bad 😅
6:10 I can't say that for Hydra. As long as the enemy team doesn't have another Hydra Splatling, a Splat Charger, an E-Liter or a Tri Stringer, I think ur better off of using it as a panic button
1 tip against big bubble: go in, drop a suction bomb, and run out
When i'm new to splatoon 3, i always panic when suddenly missiles coming from the sky. Do panic swim and some times swimming to teammate and that missiles splat my teammate. Now i now you actually can trick the missiles to hover over your for a split second and you can do minimal movement to avoid it!
This is extremely good. Either I knew the thing and I’m like “yep that’s good” or I didn’t and it’s helpful. This is going to improve my killer wail and wave breaker use for sure. I’ve struggled with those.
One very specific tip for dealing with Missiles is that you don’t have to run off of tower if you get targeted with them so long as the tower is moving.
Stand on the very edge of where the tower is moving from and the missiles will harmlessly strike the ground behind you
Yo the editing was amazing. Very simple and allows for easy skipping for tips
Don’t know if anyone’s added this, but as a new player I noticed this while getting targeted by Tentamissles: When in Squid Form, you get a little indicator ring showing you’ve been targeted. If you don’t stop moving and just rush around your team’s ink, say at your base, then you can get away with wasting your opponent’s special and boost up your own via cleaning up their ink
I just want to say thanks for the tips for going against the specials one of the specials that I went against a lot today was the crab tank and trizooka
Thanks for the tips! I’ve been trying to get better at zipcaster
Important to note (Idk how many people already know this, but it wasn't immediately obvious to me): the crab tank moves faster when walking sideways, like an actual crab. Aside from being a cool detail, it's actually decently speedy. Remember to strafe instead of trying to push directly forward, cause you ain't gonna move forward much. Also, be sure to duck into cover when it's about to run out. This is especially important for L3, since, if you're like me, it takes a second to get back into the rhythm of burst-fire instead of constant fire
Keeping missiles away from splatzones. What a bold and creative idea.
My main problem with killer wail is that I always forget I can attack until like, 2 or all the "waves" launched lmao
Chara just snapped and told the ink vacs to move, nice
One thing that isnt exactly a secret but I don't see people take advantage of is that the killer wail 5.1 doesn't compromise your moveset. It can be really useful to just pop the special and push while you're still targeting if you can, as opposed to pushing after it's firing.
i heard the zooka sound and thought it was from my switch and actually panicked
s1 traumatized me bro
4:32 was not expecting this funny segment, great job lol
Never thought about using Tenta Missiles to break the Rainmaker's Shield. Thank for the tip!
6:54 to be more specific, Killer Wail fully copies the moves of the person it targeted, so if you never repeat movements when dodging it, you should be ok. Personally, I always remember the shadow clone levels from Mario Galaxy when doing this
I feel like this is a Zip caster needs a buff because you’re just going to die if you just rushing I feel like there’s a Zip caster
can give you some health
doesn't zip have small armour on cast? could have it regen when used to travel again?
For crab, going forward is slow but moving sideways is faster, so you can play it like an N64 character and go diagonally for extra speed.
We need zipcaster on a charger. It would just completely change the play style, combo well, and allow chargers to reposition. Combos could be done with a tap-shot or something like a burst bomb.
What also helps is with the wave breaker most opposing teammates will try to go for it so you can use that to your advantage and splat some people. Though it doesn’t always work at least you can get multiple opposing forces in one area to splat.
Do you have a 1 tip for fighting against every weapon vid? I know you have one for using every weapon
This is that video
he said he'll make one soon, with another one talking about what the weapons' designs are inspired by real life things!
1:56 this aged well 😂
You just got a new subscriber!😊
4:38 you should make a full video yelling at splatoon stereotypes😂
I"ve always said Inkvac is basically used the same way ubercharge is used in TF2. Glad to see that sentiment echoed.
Really informative and simple love it
Tip against crab tank, if you do get behind the crab tank, but theres a bunch of teamates near it, if you need to get rid of that crab tank, as long as your behind it and have a bomb you it will explode on impact of the crab and kill it, also if you angle your bomb just right from a distance you can throw it at the top of the crab tank and it will kill, you don't always have to be a charger and kill it when it sticks up out of the crab
My advice for reef slider and wavebreaker users:
When playing clam blitz with reef slider make sure you either use it when you don't have any clams or next to teamates. You drop any clams you where carrying during the explosion
As for the wavebreaker it's important to note that while the waves can't travel up or down walls, and they don't go through metal grated floors, they can go through walls, allowing you to hide them behind walls while they damage or mark opponents
As a Hydra main I've found I can reliably shut down crab tanks AND splat their user in slightly less than a full charge; even without run speed up I can strafe faster than the tank's shot change direction, so unless they're explicitly targeting me with the secondary fire it's a reliable (if somewhat niche) way to counter them
some people may not know this so i think it's worth mentioning, but the top of the big bubbler takes twice as much damage as the regular forcefield, so if you're a backline with lots of range like an explosher, charger, or splatling, always take the time to break it as quick as possible if it's in a significant area
hey has chara ever considered voice acting because the way he delivered the ink vac tip was the best thing I've heard in a month
