So much so one of the first things I did once I got the snes classic was hack it just so I could add this game to it and it's great to have it back to go to every one in a while for some retro goodness and even better the day you upload this is also my birthday
I never played this one but I’ve heard a ton of great praise for it. Haggar using moves that we’d see him use in Final Fight and MVC games is so consistent, which is obviously not the case with regard to canon between US and Japan lore haha. This seems just as convoluted as Final Fight canon - hell, the character Poison alone has SO many different things going on between western and eastern markets that it’s impossible to keep up. Awesome review, and I’m looking forward to Sting Money!
I bought this game from a video rental store my uncle owned and loved it. My younger brother, and our two friends who were also brothers used to hook up the multi-tap and play 4 players all the time. One of my favorite SNES wrestling games.
There was an arcade machine at my last job with hundreds of games on it, including multiple versions of Slam Masters. I convinced some coworkers to play it and they were hooked instantly. Lot of trash talk while working after that.

Slammasters was the best wrestling game back in the day. I have a ps4 now, my son's love wwe2k17, and they love playing Slammasters with dad. That speaks volumes.

And my favorites were El Stingray and The Scorpion aka Astro. Wish Capcom would bring back Slam Masters. Especially with current state of wrestling games. Loved this episode. Ring of Destruction Slam Masters 2 was released outside Japan too, but worldwide was an arcade only release, Muscle Bomber Duo, the other sequel, is more of an update that only lets you do tag matches
I can absolutely relate to the fact that nobody knows about this game. My brother and I rented it a boatload of times when we were young, and we absolutely adore this game. I got it for Christmas from my then-girlfriend's mother a few years back and I literally cried like a baby when I opened. That's how much this game means to me. I've got so many memories of this game from back in the day. My first time beating a co-op game with my brother, late nights trying to get through single player on my own, my first broken controller. What a game!
This was one of the 7-8 Super Nintendo games we actually owned growing up after renting it constantly from Blockbuster. Being from Canada, we were blown away that the coolest character Scorp was from Calgary and that Calgary…..Alberta Canada was actually IN THE GAME AS AN ARENA. Finally the wrestling capital of the world was featured in a game.
I remember playing this game for the first time in like 3rd grade. New kid moved to our school and had this game. Our first hangout was playing this game and mortal kombat Almost 25 years later, we’re still boys. Just got a new arcade cabinet for my home bar, which has thousands of games including SNSM. We were reminiscing over this game a few weeks ago so it’s funny i stumbled across this retrospective video.

I was only able to play the arcade version of Saturday Night Slammers, I was 10 and on vacation with my family and went to the hotel arcade, it played like Street Fighter 2 and grabbed me and I played it for hours as Haggar and loved it, haven't been able to find it for console but I will someday, thanks a lot for reigniteing my childhood and well done with your video Ian ✊
I played the absolute fire out of this game. Some of my best gaming memories with my best friend came from this game. Every run was different, every match could become a new challenge. I would buy this on a modern system hands down

Stumbled upon Saturday Night Slam Masters at a pawn shop in the early 90s. I was pre-teenish. Knew nothing about an arcade version or a manual but had fun. Even figured out most of the specials somehow. Also, I do remember playing with Scorpion and Jumbo on the SNES version.
SNSM is a awesome game and when i first played it in 1993 i was hooked and loved the i knew one of the characters from a different game series. I love this game so much i am slowly making custom action figures for this game. :)
I just got my old Sega Mega Drive and my box of games back from my parents place from back in the day. I totally forgot I had this. Nice little surprise, especially once I looked up what a Complete PAL version of this goes for these days!!!

I did grow up with SNSM, I loved it. It was my favourite wrestling game until I got my hands on No Mercy a few years later. I still have my SNES cartridge of SNSM in fact. And WWF royal rumble too.
I played the Arcade and SNES versions and really enjoyed them. They made a sequel,Slam Masters II Ring of Destruction, but I think it played more like a traditional fighting game if I'm not mistaken. It never was ported to home consoles. I wish Capcom would re-release the arcade versions to modern platforms.
I might have seen this game at the arcade and only recognized Hager from Final Fight. Game looks awesome but I was big into the WWF games at the time. I owned RAW for the Sega.

Slam Masters ep has arrived!!! Fav SNES wrestling game. Jumbo was my main which leads me to a minor/half correction to your video. Jumbo and Scorp were available in the SNES version. They were available in Tag Team mode. Which is the mode my brother and I played all the time. Also, I’m extremely jealous of that Barbed Wire death match. I think my head would have exploded as a kid if I saw that.
I feel bad for people who didn't get to grow up through the Nintendo generation all the way till now and be able to have such strong memories throughout the progression of technology. Oh and the first time I saw Slam Masters in an arcade it blew my 12 year old balls off. EVERYONE PLAYED THIS GAME so gamed back then.

Man, This brings me back dowm memory lane. I used hog this game every time I was at the arcades.. It was Slam Masters! WWF Wrestlefest and freaking 3 count bout was among my favorite arcade wrestling games back in the day.

Man... i renrmber coming across this at an arcade back in the day and had a lot of fun. Ended up finding it in a bargain bin at Blockbuster Video sometime in the mid 90s and snagged it. Played the shit out of the team mode with my brother.
