I've found that staying hydrated during the day helps prevent cramps. Also before I go to bed, I do those 2 stretches you've shown in another video: 1. Face and hold counter or wall, step back in lunge-like position, front knee bent, back leg straight, foot flat on floor, and toes pointed forwards, 15 sec. 2. Same position, except bring back foot forward a bit to bend back knee as much as possible while keeping foot completely flat on floor, 15 sec. This also minimizes my tendency to plantar fasciitis as you folks have mentioned at some point in the past. Alternatively, I stand up tall with legs straight, roll my head toward my chest and bend/roll slowly downward either to touch my toes or more likely to just hang in a stretch for a few seconds. Roll back up. Repeat about 5 times. I sleep so much better when I take cramp-preventing action first, but sometimes I am very tired and have to talk myself into it by saying, just spend 2-5 minutes to help yourself sleep better, silly!
Thanx. I forwarded this to my partner who always gets cramps at night. I know we have gone these in the past. However we always need reminders of what we need to do.
Hello Mike and Brad!! Hi Bob in the background!! I'll definitely forward this video to a few people who can benefit from your advice and stretches! As always, enjoy your day! See you next video! Toodles!!
this usually happens when i'm in bed and sleepy to say the least... warm and comfy.. and don't want to move, but horrible cramps in my foot/ankle/leg, whichever it is at the time.. mind you, thinking about it, sometimes i have to leap up.. it's like being catapulted out of bed! wow when it comes on in my thigh that's something else.. scary. thankyou for sharing this 🙂
Funny, you guys made a video about leg cramps and cramps in general. I just had a calf cramp at night and it was very painful. It can be from work - just painful overworked muscles. I was also possible that I was dehydrated and that played a role maybe too. I have spider veins - so maybe it is poor circulation too. I normally do not have calf cramps. I just turned 40 recently. And it is probably more common to happen after 40. I didn’t have any cramps before.
I've gotten muscle cramps all my life, since I was a child. I take potassium and magnesium but would still get them on occasion, especially after having been on my feet all day for my job. I started chewing apple cider vinegar gummies 2-3 times a day, because taking a tablespoon was a little hard to do, lol. I've not had a muscle cramp since!
thank you, i'm suffering from MS and my leg spasticity have been killing me, stretching my hamstrings really helped, but would apple vinegar also help?
I seldom get leg cramps in my calf muscles. Where I do get weird cramps is on the outside of my ankle and extending a few inches up my leg. This usually occurs in the middle of the night. I have been aware that I was moving my feet and legs just before awakening with this pain. I can't figure out how to relieve the pain, so I have to wait out the 10 or 15 minutes it takes for that small muscle to wear itself out. Then, of course, I need to get back to sleep. Is there any help for me?
we would have to suggest you see your doctor to make sure there's nothing more pertinent going on there. You can definitely try the stretching before bed but if it continues, you may want to speak to your physician
I get these randomly right when I am waking up in the morning. Usually I punch my calf to make the cramp loosen up but to be way more scientific, I’ll stretch them out 😂 But interestingly enough, I’ve been taking those Goli apple cider vinegar gummies and I haven’t had calf cramps for a month. Interesting how that might work out, but loving that I’m not cramping so much in the morning.
I have a problem hip joint and several times at night it's as though a demon is in my leg twisting it from the hip to my toes. The stretches don't work but simply getting out of bed and standing stops it immediately. I do notice the cramps only happen when I forget to take zinc before bed, so I can see why the ACV would help.
so it seems like the zinc demon is punishing you for not putting it inside your body whenever you forget it before bed. 😊 just kidding. I can totally understand what you mean and I wish you well.
I've have occasionally what I'm pretty sure is a gracillis cramp. That's a hard one to stretch out. I had to look it up to understand which muscle was annoyed.
I used to see my father (now passed) sit at the front of the chair and doing that stretch. Never knew he was in pain. In the future I'll know. Mine are always night stretches that either wake me, or when I wake it starts. APV ***WITH THE MOTHER*** is supposed to be so healthy, but HOW to consume it is the problem!
My husband & I have suffered with horrible cramps to either calves or iinner thighs?. ( som times from groin to knee? They hit hard & hurt so bad! The muscle that cramps is usually so TENSE!.. we have found it lthe one with the cramp is screaming or crying (for real!) the other is grabbing a hand towel & soaking it in very hot water & taking hot towels & wrapping them around the ,4cramped muscle. Our kitchen sink gives good hot water quickly or we can microwave a wet towel BRIEFLY ! .. it’s AMAZING how quickly that I’will release the cramp ! Be careful because the muscle can stay “ sensitive” or irritated & will cramp again. Gentle stretching afte moist heat hops hS!!
I can't even stand the smell of ACV! I've always just stretched if I got a cramp, but my husband had pretty bad ones during the night. He would get up and go have a small spoon of prepared yellow mustard!! He swore it worked.🤷♀️✌
Another strange remedy for toe cramps is pinching the skin between your nostrils and pulling downward. It's an accupressure point. Try it. Those stretching exercises work for leg cramps too. I've done that many times.
Calm + electrolytes for a 63 year old that has 40+ years of leg cramps. If I drink that every day or two then virtually no cramps. Stretching doesn’t work.
Great remedies however there’s too many to remember. You want immediate relief because it hurts so bad! No time to stop and think. When I get a cramp I panic and freak out. Usually happens while sleeping and it wakes me. All I do is throw myself out of bed and use body weight to stand then walk around and that’ll push it out wherever it is. It’s pretty awful. I’ve heard that you shouldn’t drink apple cider vinegar straight like that-too acidic for the stomach. 😮
do you try a cold floor on bare feet? far too often, half asleep, pacing up and down on the kitchen floor in the middle of the night, bare foot . something to drink too, maybe?

Great advice! It really works! Crazy, pain that goes away when you stretch them out.
Glad you liked it!

Great ways to overcome cramps. But if you cramp while running a marathon what are the options?
We would suggest stopping to stretch it out, but to prevent them the stretches, this should help
I have triceps tendinotis for 2 years. Does tendon massage will help for this problem? I don’t have pain but I can’t exercise.
Here are a couple videos that might help: www.youtube.com/@BobandBrad/search?query=%20triceps%20tendinotis%20

My mother in law says a teaspoon of regular yellow mustard works.
Worth a try!
It’s true because it contains acetic acid. I learned that trick from a dialysis patient.
I've tried it and it works!
Pickle juice works for me

Where’s Bob?
Probably directing the video. He rarely appears on camera anymore. Read the video description for information about his disability.
Bob is working behind the scenes now!
Is it just me, or does Mike talk really fast? His high voice and quick pace reminds me of the teacher from Charlie Brown.
We are all different, we love Mike and hope you will too!
