Tip for owning a bare steel bar: don't let chalk cake up on the knurling for very long, or it's a breeding ground for rust, especially if the bar will be kept in a less insulated/more humid environment, like a garage. Brush any chalk accumulation off the bar after every workout. It only takes a minute. Use a nice, stiff bristled nylon brush, or a brass bristle brush. If you let too much rust accumulate, the rust plus the intensive process of cleaning it off can wear down/soften the intensity of the knurl quite significantly. I learned this the hard way.
I left mine standing in the corner of me bedroom for a year. When I finally decided to use it, the end of the bar that was pointed up had collected lots of dust and was rusted. Houston humidity is brutal.
For those wondering, from Rip on the forums: "How is the new Starting Strength Barbell going to differ from the Rogue B&R Bar? " "Basically the same bar, slightly different knurl, in 28.5mm. The slightly smaller diameter makes it a better general-purpose bar than the fatter 29mm B&R. "
$265.00 on a bare steel Rogue Ohio Power Bar - 45 lbs, thought they only have the IPF markings. $325.00 on a zinc coated Rogue Ohio Power Bar - 20 kg, though they only have the IPF markings.
I keep my basement humidity around 50% year-round because I have musical instruments there in addition to my rack and barbells/plates. My current Rogue bar is zinc coated (shaft and sleeves) and no problems with corrosion or rust. Is 50% humidity too high for this bare steel SS bar w/r/t corrosion or rust?
Oil is not needed as long as you brush any chalk buildup out of the knurling after every workout, and perhaps give the entire surface a nice brushing every so often to disrupt any surface buildup of rust. Black oxide buildup is good, orange rust buildup is bad.
@@anthonyluisi7096 If you keep it in a humid environment, yes, you need to wipe it down and oil it after every workout. I have a bare steel Ohio Power Bar, and it gets a bit rusty even when I brush the chalk and oil it every time.
Anyone end up getting it? I went with the all american and my deep dish plates scream when putting them on.way louder then rogue power bar sleeves.was also wondering if the ss and aa have same knurl.
What is the maximum weight of the bar? By "perfect balance of sharp and smooth" you mean "medium knurl" right? What's the tensile strength? Is it whippy or stiff? What's the sleeve length on each bar? What's the diameter of the bar? Are you not meant to squat with the lighter two bars since there's no center knurl? What are the actual specs on the bar?

The Starting Strength Bar - gets 5lbs heavier every time it’s unracked
Hahaha
are these bars sold individually or only in bundles of fahve?
@Natty Fatty Powerlifting Does that mean I need a separate bar for deadlifts?

They should call it the hip drahve bar
hiap dhrive
or "do your fahve" bar
What kind of wood is it
I was hoping for beer, whiskey and strippers
...and guns.
The Trifecta of choice

Get'em both! That way, you get some double landmine action!

I liked this vid because I learned something about what to look for in a bar.
Rippy got the stiffy uh
Why does this 1080p video look so much better than it should be??
Still a total pain in the ass for a coastal garage gym. What you call patina there, is all out rust here.
Cuandoman true
I have been using this bar for 7 months now and I can tell you first hand it’s fantastic, you will not find a bigger bang for the buck.
How does this bar match up to the B&R bar?
If the bars are comparable and one wanted to support your efforts more, would this be the bar to get?
This may be the finest barbell ever made.something about those thick collars and bare steel and craftsmenship of texas power bars.
Christmas is here yall
Is it available in the uk?
20kg, 28.5mm AND center knurl! I want it.
I ordered one the day they came out. I look forward to trying it out and comparing it to my B&R bar! :)
Finally a 10 kg bar I can finally start strength.
xD

Just in time for Christmas
That's a great price and I've been thinking abt a new bar. Will really have to consider this one.
Yeah, what a great bar
Could you add a link to the online store,?
Capps is the best. Only thing I like besides that is York.
How does the 20kg bar compare to the B&R bar?
B&R 2.0: No Whip, 29 mm diameter
Starting Strength: Does Whip, 28.5 mm diameter
Flipping awesome 👍
It's about time you entered the market young whippersnapper. Those are some competitive prices too.
But how to I do power cleans without bumper plates?
Exactly the same way, some commercial gyms might kick you out, but good ones wont.
But I just bought the B&R 2.0 Bar!!!
I wonder how this compares to the B & R bar.
mjs0686 B&R 2.0 is 29mm vs 28.5mm, only 20kg, dual marks, center knurling. I enjoy the knurling.
Looks like it has smooth and not ridged sleeves.
I like smooth much better.
Rogue bars are my favorites
Will this thing give more more power to hip dreaveee?
Forgot to put the link in the description.
Only US shipping available. :(
Not anymore ;)
Sounds like a quality bar! I'd love to snag one up some day.
How does the knurling compare to the Texas power bar?
Is there any point to buy the B&R bar now that this is out?
The B&R is nice but this bar is much nicer.
All steel bar . I assume you would need to oil the entire bar for maintenance and reduce rust especially in hot humid environments? Just ask ing ...

Nice!
Why not put center knurl on women's and Jr bars?
Are the sleeves on this bar threaded or smooth?
I had the same question and wrote to the manufacturer texaxpowerbars - they said this is the nearest to a smooth finish out of all their bars

New to this. What is the purpose of the 3 bars ?
Better signal?

Just gonna wait until Titan Fitness releases their new power bars for a fraction of the price
🤣🤣
You will find higher quality in a general purpose bar, for cheaper. The Rogue Ohio Power bar is unbeatable.
rogue ohio power bar is a power bar, not a general purpose bar...
Can someone explain why the bars are in kilos if we’re all using pounds?
Very few bars are actually in pounds. Most "45 pound" bars are actually 20 kg. That being said once you add collars it ends up being 45 lb anyway
Here's an explanation from the man himself: ruclips.net/video/nG0eStYs3j0/видео.html
