Mastering side swings is all about practice. The more comfortable you get with the movement the more confident and fast you will be able to perform them.👍
Timing is soo tough remembering to jump with the single side swing gonna just keep doing these until it’s muscle memory practicing everyday can’t wait to learn those double side swings!
Hi ! You deserve much more likes for this video ! I cannot express my gratitude enough for sharing your experience ! I will try it in 2 hours héhé ! Tons of thanks from Belgium ! You rock !
I get a little tangled up when I do the double side swing, but I am getting there and your video will definitely help me out better. Thank you for your tips! ♥️✌️
Thanks Coach! The way you execute the double side swings really helped me out big time. I got the flow of it in instantly. I shall practise this regularly and follow your lead. Rock on Coach! 🤘🤘👍
You are a great teacher but not sure if i am an attentive student! Thanks for breaking it down. Don't know why i am having such difficulty with this move.
Appreciate the compliment and support Gunsta X! Sometimes it just takes a bit to get the technique down. Start slow and get the basic movement down until it starts to make more sense. Repetition and practice is key!
Side swings get the arms and upper body involved while jumping rope. Since the arms are closer to the heart, the cardiovascular system gets worked much harder when you start incorporating side swings, especially at high speeds or with heavier ropes. At the end of the video I show jumping more normal and then what is possible with the addition of side swings. Of course it will take practice, but it's definitely not out of reach!
Favorite move is windmill sideswings or doubles sideswings. I believe sideswings are great for active rest and like you said bring up intensity. I also believe it helps with timing.
Just wondering, around how long can you jump with the intensity in around 5:55? Is that a sustainable intensity (like last for 10 mins) for a pro like you? Thanks!
No, it's similar to sprinting or a really fast jog. You will fatigue a lot faster so I use that kind of intensity for hiit style training. I may be able to maintain that pace for a minute or two...but would need to dial it back after that for a rest.
I have added jump rope to my regular workout routine for the last 3 weeks and MAN I see and feel immediate results! Thank you for breaking down the basic side swing this is the one move I am trying to make more fluid with my routines. I want to purchase the rope you are using I'm curious though...should I also by the weighted bands or wait on that? Thank you !
Excellent, Glad the video helped you! You will love the ropes. If you have any questions about them, let me know. what weighted bands are you referring to?
Jump 15 yes they have a additional set of weighted ropes to attach I forgot the cost but it was a add on option. I think they were maybe 1lb to 1.5lbs . But either way I will definitely get this rope for sure.
@@SWIMVICE oh you were referring to the heavier ropes. There is the get lean set with a 1/4 and 1/2 lb ropes and the get strong set with 1 & 2 lb ropes, or you can package them together and get the whole set. The heavy ropes are a whole different challenge and are great. If you are just starting out maybe stick with the get lean to see what you think of the 1/2 lb and then you can always add on the heavier ropes later. If you've been jumping for a while and want a challenge go for the whole set. Note: the get strong set comes with bigger handles which are needed for the heavy ropes. Hope that helps!
Wow!!!! If only I could jump rope like that, I'm pretty decent from boxing however you're leagues aboves me or should I say worlds apart...🤣 Defo Gonna be using some tips from your tutorial, Great job mate👍 New Subby here!!!!!
If doing side swings on a single side (southpaw style), what causes the rope to twist, making it difficult to open up for the jump? I'm assuming it's something with hand/wrist/handle movement, but I can't figure out precisely what.
Hello! I Iike your videos. I also use Crossrope. I have the “First Generstion”. Tell me - for the slim handles do the Infinity ones rotate more smoothly? Meaning does the rope swing more easily than the first gen handles? Also, do you have a better grip with the infinity handles?
Hi David, they do spin. Try nicely due to the use of ceramic bearings. They also don't require any lubrication so maintenance is cut out. If you enjoy the set you have I would ride the life out of those before making the move unless the money isn't an issue for you. You can always have your current set as a backup. The quick release and connection mechanism is far superior to the old set as well. Check my Crossrope review video for a full run down. Let me know if you have more questions! If you do buy you can use my link and code for 10% off.
Hi Kyle this might seem a silly question or even an irrelevant detail but I notice that during the practice drill of the double side swing you swing twice on each side. But then when you add in the jump you sideswing twice on your right hand side but once on your left and then open the rope and jump. Is there a particular reason for this ? Is it because thats your dominant hand you are opening up. I mean why not 2 sideswings on each side then open the rope? Any explanation will be greatly appreciated as Im wracking brain over it lol. It maybe something completely obvious that I am missing. Cool vid. Respect.Subbed.
Great question Don, its actually a key detail. It is because the hand/arm that is crossing the body needs to be outside the other hand during the side swing to effectively open the rope. If you do the second swing the crossing hand will slide inside the other hand closest to your body. If you try to open from here the rope will likely get twisted on itself causing it not to open properly resulting in a trip up. You will feel it. Try it both ways so you can experience the result. I need to redo a tutorial on the double side swing and will have to show this in it. Thanks!
This looks like it takes way to much coordination for someone like me. I can totally see myself falling on my face in a less than graceful way. I do really like how instructional this video is and you did a great job filming it. Just subscribed
Meredith you could totally learn this! We all suck when starting out. Start with my learn how to jump rope video and get the basics down. This skill can be practiced without even jumping so you don't have to worry about that right away. Thanks for watching!!!
