I have looked until I screamed from exhaustion then finally I saw this: PERFECT! This is it! The edging , everything makes it a beautifully balanced piece. And your clear explanation and demonstration have made my day complete! I’m off to create my own. I am so grateful you deviated from other examples on YT: this is the most functional and most beautiful demonstration of this pattern. You have saved me a bunch of work & probably screaming to accomplish this stitch. OMG thank you! & have a happy Thanksgiving Day too! I am happy & giving thanks that you illustrated/published this pattern!☺️🌺💐⭐️🌷🌜🍉🌛 Please do more! You are the best presenter of knitting I have come across: thanks for all that you provide for the rest of us.♥️🙋🏼♀️
I'm currently addicted to cabling. And I have to say that you are the reason that my knitting has improved so much. Just watching you knit and your tension video helped me "get it". I recommend your videos to everyone. Thank you!
Thank you so much! I have been looking all over for a pretty and SIMPLE pattern for a head band I wanted to make my sister inlaw! Will be doing this in Black Raspberry, Charisma yarn by Loops and Threads! :)
it would save so much time not having to use an extra needle, so thanks for the tip. It seems so obvious now but when I cable it never crossed my mind to just switched the stitches straight onto the needles before knitting them.
The reason I stopped at your video is because your little sample there looks just like my headband pattern that I make. If you make that sample 18 or so inches long and sew the ends together you would have my headband! I got the idea from a Calvin Klein headband I saw on the internet. I wish I had seen your video first. It would have saved me a lot of experimentation and wasted time. Good video.
This is a great tutorial and beautiful pattern, the 10 stitch repeat is perfect for the hats i make, my hats are always 88 stitches in worsted weight yarn on size 8 (5.0 mm) needles, and ive done everything from 8-bit strandind kniting fetureing vidogame charecters, to lace. but finding a cable stich i like is hard, and this takes the cake, i will have the cable section followed by a p1 and then repeat around XD
Would you consider making a tutorial on how to knit the Celtic pattern? I've tried to follow two other sites, however, I am better with attaining the finished project with you. The knotted cable is close. Pat-South Padre Island, Texas
I've watched and tried to stitch along with "Beginning a Celtic Knot Cable Loop"- Ann Kingstone's Channel and "Celtic Cable Saxon Braid Knit Stitch" from Studio Knit.
maybe having a fuzzy yarn helps? a slick yarn might slip without the use of a cable needle, but fuzzies want to sit right where they are as the fibers grab each other. This turns out so pretty!
I tried this but came out completely different pattern don't know why ,because I was knitting my sweater and didn't workout for me ,please tell me why mine went wrong
There is no way for me to know what went wrong, since I can't see you working. If you've following the written instructions, your results should be the same. Sorry you're having trouble.
Your video is wonderful and I always appreciate folks sharing videos like this since I am a very visual learner. However, I have been attempting this for a winter headband for my Mother. I watched the video several times and even looked at the written instructions, but my cables look more like twists than they do a Celtic Knot pattern, I'm not sure why as I have been following the video instructions very closely. Any ideas what could be going wrong? Also, is this how you started your project as well? Or did you do something slightly different at the beginning?
It is hard to tell since I can't see while you're knitting; it may be that your tension is tighter than mine. Are you sure you're holding the stitches in front when they are supposed to be in front and in back when they are supposed to be in back? That is the only thing I can think of that might be causing a problem. Sorry I can't be of more help. I never actually used this stitch pattern in a project, but it is perfect for a headband, I hope yours turns out!
iknitwithcatfur I was following very closely and being fairly new to Knitting this seemed a great beginning cable project for me. I was wondering how tight or loose or tension might be and whether or not that was a factor. I think my tension is fairly tight at the moment because I am still getting my Knitter fingers, I'm used to Crochet. I also only recently switched over to the Continental Style of Knitting so it's slowing me down and causing me to be fairly careful with my stitches. Were your cast on stitches fairly loose? As silly as it is your tension looks so nice in this video, like the perfect balance, not too tight not too loose.
One more thought - are you using a needle size appropriate for the yarn you're using? That may cause tension problems. I tend to knit on the loose side; at the time I did this video I had been knitting for around 7 years, so had lots of practice. You will get better the more you practice, so don't give up!
iknitwithcatfur I actually was using the recommended size as that was something I remember being a tip when you are cabling. 😣 it could be my tension is too tight but I'm not entirely sure how to loosen it either.
blondy o. Without seeing what you are doing, I can't tell what the problem might be. Do you have the correct stitch multiple? Are you holding the cable stitches in the correct place - front/back depending on which direction they slant? Those are the only things I can think of that might be causing a problem.

Thank you, your tutorial is easy to apply, I failed knitting this stitch with other tutorials, but with yours ...I did it...Thank you again.
I love your tutorials! The Old Shale pattern I learned from you is amazing. In this vid, you rise to the bravest knitter I know! Thank you!!!

Awesome video. Need written instructions also. Thanks for the beautiful pattern.

Awesome! I'm still a rookie at this and I don't have a cable needle but I found out I could use a paper clip just the same :)
thank you for download, can I just say my hub said he could fall asleep listening to your voice :)
This great . .will definitely try today . .have wrote all the instructions . .thanks a ton!!!

an awesome video !! thanks for this tip on "not" using cable needles & your link to the blog
I'm stunned...I've thought of not using a cable needle. Thx for showing it can be done.
It is so much simpler, I never use a cable needle any more.
I'll have to practice this technique. The for doing a video on it.
I will say, it is less tricky on wool or other 'grabby' fibers. Silk, tencel and other slippery fibers can get a little scary :-)

Thank you very much for the tutorial and beautiful pattern!
You could use a separate color for just the cable
I'm going to attempt a blanket with this pattern. Thanks so much for this easy to follow tutorial.
+naturegirl0415 Thanks for watching!
thank you for showing me how to throw with the left index finger, do you hold the yarn around your left pinky?
Sometimes, it depends on whether or not I need more tension on the yarn.
If I were to do this pattern in the round would I knit the cable stitches on rows 2 and 4?
That is so pretty!

Do you have a link for the particular stitch you're looking for?
I've watched and tried to stitch along with "Beginning a Celtic Knot Cable Loop"- Ann Kingstone's Channel and "Celtic Cable Saxon Braid Knit Stitch" from Studio Knit.
Thanks for the tutorial...easy to understand
what would be the multiple of stitches you can work this on?
Very beautiful dear cabled.
can you cable with a different color? or would you have to do intarsia?

Very nice stitch
Very nice pattern
Thank you! I plan on using this for a Cowl.

Lady GD if the appropriate needle for the yarn is causing fabric that is too tight then you can go up a needle size.
que bonita puntada en chaleco me gustaria

Nice cable stitch but I would always use a cable needle just to make sure that the stitches were all knitted properly.
+June Brown I never use a cable needle these days, so much faster for me and less fussy.
+iknitwithcatfur my first time to make cables in knitting but ur technic is more convenient for me
Wasn't easy to follow but looks beautiful x
Really i start 20 times of new. .. 😭
This is faster, but I would drop stitches all over the place.
