This might be the best celtic braid video. Straight to the point ,no waste of time or words, easy to follow . Finally I have the courage to try this . Thank you .
This is brilliantly explained. Been confused by so many videos but you explain stitch by stitch, explain all the terminology, I feel like I can understand written instructions better. The contrast between the brown needles and blue yarn also helps clarify stitches. Thanks
I just finished a scarf with this pattern :) It is my second time to knit a scarf :) Your instruction is clear and easy to follow! Thank you! For a beginer, it is a bit difficult to regconize every knit st and every purl st, so I would like to share the notes of all even rows :) Row 1 (right side): P2, *C4B (sl 2sts on cable needle, hold back, K2 off left, K2 off cable), P4; rep from * once, C4B (sl 2sts on cable needle hold back, K2 from left, K2 from cable), P2 Row 2: K2, P4, K4, P4, K4, P4, K2 Row 3: P1, C3R (sl next st on cable needle, hold back, K2, P1 from cable needle), *C4L ( sl next 2 sts on cable needle, hold front, P2, K2 from cable), C4R (sl next 2 sts on cable needle, hold back, K2, P2 from cable); rep from * once; C3L (sl next 2 sts on cable needle, hold front, P1, K2 from cable) P1 Row 4: K1, P2, K3, P4, K4, P4, K3, P2, K1 Row 5: C3R (sl next st on cable needle, hold back, K2, P1 from cable needle), P3, C4F (sl next 2 sts on cable needle, hold front, K2, K2 from cable), P4, C4F (sl next 2 sts on cable needle, hold front, K2, K2 from cable), P3, C3L (sl next 2 sts on cable needle, hold front, P1, K2 from cable) Row 6: P2, K4, P4, K4, P4, K4, P2 Row 7: K2, P3, C3R (sl next st on cable needle, hold back, K2, P1 from cable needle), C4L ( sl next 2 sts on cable needle, hold front, P2, K2 from cable), C4R (sl next 2 sts on cable needle, hold back, K2, P2 from cable), C3L (sl next 2 sts on cable needle, hold front, P1, K2 from cable), P3, K2 Row 8: P2, K3, P2, K3, P4, K3, P2, K3, P2 Row 9: K2, P3, K2, P3, C4B (sl 2sts on cable needle, hold back, K2 off left, K2 off cable), P3, K2, P3, K2 Row 10: P2, K3, P2, K3, P4, K3, P2, K3, P2 Row 11: K2, P3, C3L (sl next 2 sts on cable needle, hold front, P1, K2 from cable), C4R (sl next 2 sts on cable needle, hold back, K2, P2 from cable), C4L ( sl next 2 sts on cable needle, hold front, P2, K2 from cable), C3R (sl next st on cable needle, hold back, K2, P1 from cable needle), P3, K2 Row 12: P2, K4, P4, K4, P4, K4, P2 Row 13: C3L (sl next 2 sts on cable needle, hold front, P1, K2 from cable), P3, C4F (sl next 2 sts on cable needle, hold front, K2, K2 from cable), P4, C4F (sl next 2 sts on cable needle, hold front, K2, K2 from cable), P3, C3R (sl next st on cable needle, hold back, K2, P1 from cable needle) Row 14: K1, P2, K3, P4, K4, P4, K3, P2, K1 Row 15: P1, C3L (sl next 2 sts on cable needle, hold front, P1, K2 from cable), *C4R (sl next 2 sts on cable needle, hold back, K2, P2 from cable), C4L ( sl next 2 sts on cable needle, hold front, P2, K2 from cable); rep from * once; C3R (sl next st on cable needle, hold back, K2, P1 from cable needle), P1 Row 16: K2, P4, K4, P4, K4, P4, K2
I made a sweater with this patterns many years ago and I want to include it in my next sweater. Thanks for your clear instructions and beautiful execution. So easy to follow! You're a great teacher.
Could you possibly do a tutorial like this with the heart cable. I love your format. I can knit fine but have trouble keeping my place with patterns due to Lyme. So to simply listen and follow along step by step for me is wonderful! It’s taken all the stress out of working with cables.
I love this pattern, it was wonderful to see,and hear how each row would form you also took the time by not rushing this pattern so that we could follow you great job.😆
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and you are an excellent instructor, simple, clear...and if my work getsfine, iwill be sending you a picture..keep your good work, it's excellent
I am using a thinner yarn than I am use to and found that this pattern appeared a bit too small for the lap blanket I am creating. I increased the pattern to 2X the given instructions for stitches but not numbers of lines. It turned out nicely. I love this pattern and can't wait to see it in my blanket.
Nice video! =oD I just knit a cowl and incorporated the Saxony Braid pattern into my design..it is a gorgeous pattern, and adds loads of impact to your design...easier to knit than it looks too!
It would help if in the comments you could put times for the beginning of each row. I'm enjoying the video. I've knit for more than 50 years and teach knot tying for our local sailing club.
If I'm incorporating this into either side of the front of a t-shirt, how many stitches should I increase per row to incorporate for loss of width from cabling?
Question, to those of you who have used this pattern: If I want to repeat it over and over, can I add "Row 16: Knit the knits, Purl the purls" then go back to Row 1 and start over?
The cable by itself is 24 sts. You will want to add a reverse stockinette background so your cable will pop. Depending on how big you want this, add 5 to 10 sts on either side of your cable.
***** Thanks! Gorgeous pattern, and thanks for going slowly. Even more thanks for the text on the screen. It helps tremendously. I look forward to more of your videos! :)
this is beautiful! is it possible to do this on a loom? I have pins in my hand so using actual knitting needles is extremely difficult for me. However, looms are pretty easy for me and I would love to be able to do this.
David Crawford ...I would imagine this could be knit on a loom pretty easily (but I have not tried it).. you should be able to just cross the stitches on the adjacent pins of your loom. Swapping pins to the front or back would depend on which direction the cable lies, on top of the stitches, or behind..to the front or to the back. Hope this made sense. A solid understanding of how a cable is formed will help immensely...I think if you could make a pair of pick tools, with two picks spaced the same distance as your pin spacing, it would make picking the stitches off the pins to cross them easier/quicker..
You can start from the first row. Sometimes it's hard to work k2tog or cables at the beginning, so your first row can be your "setup row". For this pattern you could just do a purl row to work the first row. Or you could, (this being the wrong side) knit your reverse stockinette stitches and purl all the knit stitches you will be using for the cable. Make sense?
Thank you for your tutorial ! But I don't understand clearly about row 2 so I can not knit all even rows. Can you show me how to knit that row in detail ? Thank you so much !
Hey So I was wondering if I wanted to make this pattern but much bigger two times bigger, so would. Would I increase each k and P by two? Would like this to be the center of my king size blanket ?
I have a question am hoping you can answer. I am trying do this pattern on a baby blanket I am making for my unborn child since I cant find anyone to make this at a reasonable price. OH and FYI I have never knitted before but I am teaching myself with this youtube videos. What I want to know is, How do I make a blanket crib length and width when only so many loops can fit on a needle. Do it just ensure they are loose enough to slid off as I continue to knit? My Aunt used to make all the baby blankets, but she just passed away a month before I found out I was pregnant. I would appreciate any help you can provide me as I am wanting to make a blanket for my soon to come daughter with Celtic knots running down it. Thank you in advance.
+14Erin88 Miller To hold more stitches on your needles, use a cable needle. It's the needles with the cord in between, connecting the needles together. That's the best way to accommodate for more stitches.
This might be the best celtic braid video. Straight to the point ,no waste of time or words, easy to follow . Finally I have the courage to try this .
Thank you .
Excellent video thank you. It’s nice to listen and follow along without having to stop and read every two seconds!
This is brilliantly explained. Been confused by so many videos but you explain stitch by stitch, explain all the terminology, I feel like I can understand written instructions better. The contrast between the brown needles and blue yarn also helps clarify stitches. Thanks

I made a sweater with this patterns many years ago and I want to include it in my next sweater. Thanks for your clear instructions and beautiful execution. So easy to follow! You're a great teacher.
Thank you for teaching so well. Each line is so clearly explained.
This is sooo beautiful. •.*Thank you!!*.• for walking us through it. I’m so excited about my next project incorporating this lovely 🧶 braid!
I like this cable. It looks a bit hard but you explain very clear. It scares me a bit to try. Thanks for all the different stitches.
I did it!! It took some struggle but I did it and the video was super easy to follow!! Thank you so much for making this!

Yaaay I did a saxon braid all in one go. Amazing video thanks.
You make this look so easy. I cannot wait to start my next jumper using this.

Beautiful patten
Hey, C.L. Row 4 and all even rows are worked like Row 2. You knit all knit sts and purl all purl sts. That's why it's not shown in the video.
wow your skills are amazing, wish I could do that but it's levels above me lol
مرحبا.
Thank you for this tutorial❤
I've given it 3 tries and it was harder than I thought it would be. It looked terrible each time, even my husband laughed. I will get it eventually!
You will. It's a little tricky with all the cables and it being a little tight.
I am happy to report I got it last night and it's slowly getting easier! :-D
Great.
Wonder full and simple learn thank you so much for making

Yes. That's how it would work.
Sorry I didn't have that in the description box.
Thanks 🙏 great 👍

I love cable pattern
How did you start the braid? Did you knit a row then begin? Since the video started in the middle of the braid i was unsure.

Read up two postings and +Fresitakc posted each row, both even and odd. It just may be helpful
knitting ya
rrr
Se ve hermoso.. !!! veré como me sale, gracias...
Hi I was wondering if I can print this pattern?
Thank you for this!
hola , que linda puntada me gusta
beautiful work, but I feel lost! I am new to knitting...and I don't even understand what reverse stockingnette means lol
Reverse stockinette is when you purl on the front of your work and knit the on the back. Having the purl bumps on the front.
Oh okay thank you! :)
Hey
So I was wondering if I wanted to make this pattern but much bigger two times bigger, so would. Would I increase each k and P by two? Would like this to be the center of my king size blanket ?
You could always add two cables. They should "blend" together within the pattern.
Thank you
What did you make with this pattern?
I made a hat with this cable as the brim. You can watch it here ruclips.net/video/xRbC7vYsOqI/видео.html
You make this look so easy. Maybe I'm just impatient being such a slow knitter :-( but thanks
+C Thomas Your welcome. Thanks. Patterns like this can be frustrating.
Why do you do only 2 stitches when it says C4B?
Классно! Спасибо!
WHERE DO I FIND WRITTEN PATTERN FOR THIS SAXON
can this cable be done on a knit 1 pearl 1 rib?
Yeah that would look fantastic. Lining up the rib with the cable.
Nice
if possible please give me this knitting program
thank you so much~
Awesome result, thx :)
