I used cinnamon, pimento, cardamom, ginger, orange peels and dry hibiscus.... best ting ever!!!! I made about 6 gallons, let it steep for one day, added 4 of the Mexican cone of brown sugar... 🔥🔥🔥.. give thanks and praises
Opened up
I am not from the Caribbean and I know this drink. We have it in Nigeria. I never run out of this drink. I make it always. And you and I have a very similar method of making this drink. Wow..
We get it from the motherland! 🥰
That's awesome 😁
I'm half Jamaican/Nigerian. I never knew they had it in Nigeria also
Yes it’s called Zobo in Nigeria.

I’m from Turkey originally but I just made this following your recipe and I wanna thank you ❤️🙏🏻🧚🏻🧚🏻😇😇🥰
You’re welcome dear!
Made this sorrel drink for the first time following your steps. Came out so rich, thank you.
You’re welcome!
For it to be richer always add 2 cups of rice (think of rice wine)
Ohhhh sorrel !! making some now. It’s also good for lowering your blood pressure
This was so strong and delicious!
Proud to be Jamaican🇯🇲
I came last year and im back again to actually make it since I am far away from home. Thank you ^^
You’re welcome!
I made this and was so impressed with myself! As a lover of Jamaican food...I couldn't believe how well it turned out!
I was born in 🗽, but I have Caribbean roots!! I ❤❤ Sorrel!! I knew about the ginger, cinnamon sticks, & orange peel, but I didn't know about the brown sugar pimento berries.
I'm not Jamaican, my mother is. I've loved Sorrel since I was a child. 🇯🇲🇺🇸
This is fantastic. It will be my go to sorrel recipe from now on.
Thank you, was looking for an alcohol free version that also had spices which is difficult to find! ❤️❤️
Perfect, I have been watching many videos for making sorrel and this the first one I see, that makes it like I do, the way I see my mother and grandmother made it 100 years ago. I see some people adding different wines and other premade drinks. I say to my kids, that's not authentic Jamaican sorrel. By time you add all these other wines and mixes, its NOT Sorrell No More......lol. GOOD JOB GIRL. YOU ARE THE REAL THING. Same as I remember from me mother and grandmother.
The only thing we add to sorrel is rum. But I'm from Barbados.
Jus started to make this but instead of nuff sugar I use honey! Not that I like it sweet but honey also has health benefits 🙏🏽 I made with lemon lime & cloves with cinnamon ginger & few pimento but i like it & still experimenting...
Friends have drank it with rum or red wine & taste nice I like it non alcoholic but its flexible
Really simple instructions. Thank you sis!
You’re welcome dear!
Hi Stacy long time girl, hope your well. I didn’t know you can put Pimento berry’s with it. 👍🏾 will give it a go 💕
Outside of that spot on good job
I love your recipe and will be making soon!!!
HEY LADY CHEF, THOUGH MY UTMOST PREFERENCE IS HIBISCUS-ICED TEA, THIS SORREL'S FLAVOR IS #1!!🍺🍺
I would love to try this recipe as is, but the organic oranges by my way have no seeds (meaning they are GMOs). Even so, I will adapt this the best I can. I will also say that sorrel pairs well with chamomile!
my feeling would be hurt thinking about the boiled away nutrients but still love the great effort & ingredients, thank you for your wisdom
I'm gonna try it with Coconut Sugar...😋 🍹🍹🍹🍹🍹 Cheers!
Can't wait to make this
Everyone is comparing nigeria and Jamaica, 90% of blacks in the Caribbean are Nigerian because it was easier to transport slaves on the coast so they could walk them to the shore to board the boat. Patios is African and British english, We are Africa ❤️
Tell dem!
Who told you that? Like for real. Whose story is this?
Sierra Leone, Ghana, Ivory Coast etc. Not just Nigeria
Going to try and use some stevia with less sugar :-)))))
Thanks for sharing
Big up ya self♥️💛💚
Big up mi fren!! Happy New Year!!
Thanks and same to you!!
also after making it like you did the left over I can just blend with my fruits and Shungite water and drink >like a smoothie after doing the steps you did here ?
How Jamaicans made their sorrel drink from Trini and Bajans plus Ghana and Nigeria?
can I just blend everything and drink ?
Good
Mine came out perfectly. Chk my insta for pics and video
Hibiscus lowers blood pressure yes we eat the petals also but knowing your info before beginning your video as I always tell my children sometimes less is more. ( Info)
You are the 👌 👍 😍
To take away that tart taste use 2 cups of dry rice in the ingredients as well
What??!
No no no no sugar . This is a healthy drink . Use honey
To steep overnight, do you put in the refrigerator or out?
I left it out.
Good recipe.
Can I sweeten ( verb ) it with honey instead?
When it has been sweetened ( past participle for of to sweeten ), can the petals be used for anything else?
Thanks! Sure, you can sweeten with honey. The petals can also use to make jam.
🇯🇲 Authentic Plantbased Eats ...Be used to make honey!

Hibiscus, sorrel, jamaica are all the same right?! Depends where you originated
@@DK-qj7cr hibiscus is hibiscus and sorrel is sorrel two totally different plants. Do your research and I am Caribbean I kw smh
@@teresarichardson5129 quick perusal of the internet says sorrel is Caribbean name for hibiscus and jamaica is Spanish name for hibiscus...I am not Caribbean just going by internet...regardless I loved the batch of hibiscus/sorrel/jamaica I made 🍷👍🏼
So true shi don't know hibiscus from sorrel they are 2 different 🪴 plant
Please how long can this drink last.
Is fresh orange peel okay to use? Meaning my orange peels won’t be dried 🥰
The dried peel is best to use and will add a better and milder flavor. The fresh peel will produce too much rind. Orange peel does not take that long to dry and you can peel it, leave it out to dry the day before you use it. However if you chose to use the fresh peel use a small piece.
How come you didn't boil the sorrel?
She steeped it, which is better to do with any tea.
Thank you for the instructions. Short and to the point.
Was that permento in the boil?
Yes, pimento seeds.
🇯🇲🤶🎅
👑❤😇🙏💯🇺🇸
Sorrel and Hibiscus are not the same plant, but similar to the untrained taste
I've just discovered your channel on my search for sorrel. I have looked at some of your videos and I love how your instructions are simple and you get straight to the point. New subscriber here. Thanks for sharing your recipes.💟
You’re welcome dear and thanks a lot!
