Damn that whopper didnt fight at all. Usually them lassens spool some line! I have a couple double digit Pr lassens i caught in my page my PB off the bank using power bait and my 2nd biggest lassen was trolling a Rapala check them out sometime. If you have time a tutorial on the drop shot set up would be great for us newb jiggers. Tight Lines and congrats on that big Win.

What where you using for bait?
I have always fished just a small trout pond with jigs on a 6 ft st croix trout. DO u think it would b better if i used a 7,6 phoenix elixir UL, it would give my jigs better action and be better to use all together
Honestly, it’s all about rod preference. I was using 8’0” Phenix Elixirs, but they are the old models that have a green blank rather than the black ones which are currently in production. I would say to use a longer rod between 7’6”-8’0”. You will be able to cast farther and be able to control fish better when fighting them. For jigging I always use a fast action rod, so the elixir as you said would be a good choice. But go with the rod you feel most comfortable with.

I'd like to know how you made your pole holder set up for your tube. I see it's pvc.
It’s made of PVC. I made the model to fit the side compartments of the tube and used zip ties to hold them on to the tub. I can make a video on how I made them if that would help.

You have the greatest chance of catching if you go on Friday and be in like to fish no later than 2am. By going on Friday you’ll get first pick on the fish and by going early to make line you’ll get a good spot. Try fishing by the boat dock, the road, the bubble hole, casa corner, the pump house, and almost anywhere on Chris’ Pond. Use orange or white powerbait or jigs, and do not cast far. Light tackle, 2-4lb test on an ultralight rod. You can do all this and there’s a chance you still may not catch, but it will take time, especially for this lake. Talk around with those fishing around you and see what’s working and what is not.

I use 1/0 Gamakatsu Circle Hooks, I get them off eBay for cheaper. If i'm casting far i'll use 3/4oz or 1oz with 7lb/8lb test. If i'm casting close i'll use 1/16oz or 1/4oz with 2lb/4lb test.

I was using 8’0” Phenix Green Blank Elixirs. They don’t make them anymore so they’re hard to find.

Nice job, Kevin! Congrats on the win! We have a variety of trout fishing ops here in the Maryland/Pennsylvania area to include some wild brown and brook trout and stocked rainbows and goldens. I catch a lot on 1/80th oz hair jigs either plain or tipped with a variety of baits to include the Power Trout Worms, mealworms or by them selves. What length is that Presso rod? looks like the same model I have. Nice vid! I liked and subbed, and if you get a chance check out some of my trout vids from this past spring. At Santa Ana River Lakes I use 1/8oz.
Next time, keep that fish in water until you weight. Plastic bag full of water. Fish lose a TON of weight out of the water.
