I fished that lake in the mid-eighties as a child.I now live in North Carolina but I'm 49 I forgot it existed.Thank you for taking me back

Bruddah... By far the best video of SARL... Like you I go for memories since I was a couple years old my Dad would take me... My only question is have you ever done camping overnight and you think the Trout would bite at those times? Keep up the great videos!

Awesome video brotha! Yeah it is definitely a circus there. Especially Fridays and Saturdays. Kinda why I stopped going there on them days. Monday..Tuesday are my days there. No bs to deal with and open fishing spots! Let me know when you go there on the wek days🤙🤙

I actually haven’t fished over night myself, but it’s definitely someone I want to do this season. You basically fish right next to the spot you choose to fish. 🤙🏼

Caught a carp by accident about 2 weeks ago at Chris’s pond. Used a frozen hot dog chunk with garlic powder for catfish, caught the carp instead

Try short. 3-6 inches. With the rain and the murky water, they might be hunkered down at the bottom. When I fished on Friday, the short leader was key.

Warning: if you are an experienced but short-tempered fisherman, these ponds may not be the "lakes" for you. If you hate people crossing your set lines, tangling your lines or have constant bottom snagging or have newbies fishing next to you, nope, these are definitively not the ponds for you. If people arriving really late to the lake and want squeeze next to you, who had been waiting since 2:00 AM to get a good spot; Nope, these ponds are not for you. IF you do not have deep pockets to fish here, nope these are not the ponds for you. Finally, if you have never taken any anger management classes, please do not fish at these ponds. Don't say that I didn't warn you. lol
gotta get a boat if u want to fish on friday cuz shoulder to shoulder fishing is no fun
100% fishing really close to people can get tough. Float tubing is a nice option. 🤙🏼🤙🏼
3 things work at santa ana river lakes, garlic, mice tails and chartruse powerbit the rest you do need , heel even the fish that are feed hatchery brown pellets , they dont want to pellets when they can get something better? nice tour? but ou forgot to mention the increase in prices coming i heard 5.00 across the board.

As I understand it, No. It’s not treated.
The water comes from the Santa Ana River.

What's a good spot for someone from out of town coming to camp and fish? Been there twice a got skunked both times 😢. Seems like not worth the 4hr drive.
That is quite the drive indeed brother. Toad Road or the Pump House would be great choices, if you're gonna fish the Big Lake. If you're gonna fish Chris' Pond I would fish Connie's Corner. I'll try to have up to date videos posted to give you an insight on how the water level and clarity is. Good luck when you come out. 🤙🏼

Bro last year I was fishing at the big lake and some dude in less than an hour pulled like 20 catfish and took off they are not watching that shit I can tell you that. I got skunked that day
That sucks you got the skunk. Been skunked too many times haha. I feel yah, I know they can’t catch them all, but I know they do keep an eye out a good amount of times. 🤙🏼🤙🏼

Can i take my kid to Huckleberry pond without paying the General admission fee for the main lake?
Absolutely. No need to go up to the main gate. When the pond is open, there is a separate entrance located where the car line forms. Basically before you turn right towards the main pay gate.
I do like less anglers I would go on Monday Tuesday or Wednesday with my boys... I never been there...

Make sure you get ready to spend $100 everything is expensive there makes no sense that it cost $36 just to go fishing and most of the time you don't even catch fish there
Absolutely correct. Things are not cheap now a days. I'd imagine the owners of the lake must have to pay a good amount of coin for the fish that they stock to provide this "fishing" experience. Plus they've got to pay the staff that works there. Things aren't cheap on both ends. Appreciate you brother. 🤙🏼
@pokedad.fishes yeah that's understandable but they make plenty of money at that Lake paying their staff and producing those fish should be easy as many times as they have ripped me off. It's a good lake but it would be much better if the prices were cheaper
Great video. I assume if i'm float tubing it wont matter what time arrive since ill be out in the water and can get into the good spots? I've never tubed at SARL and always wanted to.
Thanks Dan. That's the beauty of the float tube. Don't need to worry about getting to a spot super early. Just find a nice and safe place to launch. Then just pick your favorite spot from there. Definitely give it a shot. I really like float tubing SARL. Good luck out there brother. 🤙🏼

@@_Lt__Dan_ Yup they stock Chris' Pond first and then the big lake. Unfortunately I didn't have footage that I recorded, but if you follow the links in the description you can see the footage of the stocking of both lakes. 🤙🏼🤙🏼
