How are you able to cast all the way to the island?? I could barely cast half way. Is it the length of ur rods? And so I need a heavy, medium heavy, etc??
Hey man just wondering what set up you use and hook size . I recently went and fished on fingers with 8 pound test and about 15lb leader with a 1/2 oz weight on a Carolina rig Used mackerel for bait , caught one but it came off the hook right near the edge

It could be the spot you are fishing. Santa Ana is a hard lake to fish for catfish.

Which ones bit more?? Mac seems easier to handle sometimes
Some days one bites more than the other but I prefer Marshmallow and Mealworms.

What kind of leaders are those?
I make them from 20lb braid and a 1/0 Gamakatsu Octopus Circle Hook. I tie the line to the hook by snelling it.

At what times do they bite ?
They usually bite from 6am-9am, and then again from 8pm-10pm. You can catch during the other hours but these are the times they bite the best.
What pound test you use bro ?
I use 7lb/8lb when casting far and 2lb/4lb when casting close, which is like 20 yards max.
