  • Here's my concept of the Apple Glass and realityOS, Apple's next big thing, the AR Headset that will not only replace the iPhone, but the entire category of smartphones.
    While it's inspired by some of the leaks you all saw, this concept of the Apple Glass's design, UI and strategy is pure speculation, not based on any exclusive info
    oh and RealityOS is a thing now it seems, there's a trademark, so there's that

    So, here it is, the reason why I haven't published anything for a month, this project was incredibly complex to make but I'm really proud of how it turned out. What do you think, is this (or at least something similar) the future?

    Hey! Nice concept! - like you said towards the end of the video apple about AR on iPad and iPhone, I feel like bringing that to the UI it self would be the best way and feel natural rather than having a fixed ui, surely they can do this, so you can place the ui pieces in the real world like its a screen so it would act the same as a display would. Rather the UI being fixed in the same place fix it to a object or area in the real world for example if you walk to your bedroom you can had like apps on the walls and if you walk to your office you can have different apps - hopefully this makes some sort of sence to what im getting at…

      Thanks! Yeah I’ve thought about that approach, and I’ve seen many other concepts going for it, but I don’t think it would be that good to be honest, you can “attach” the UI to a wall if you are in your office, but what about when you’re outside?
      Also, I’m pretty sure that to constantly calculate where the objects should be in relation to the user and every minor movement would consume A LOT of battery, in addition to that, this kind of UI kinda forces the experience to be linked to physical hand movements, and while it would definitely be cool the first few times, I fear it would become very annoying after even just an hour of use, it’s actually the same reason why Apple has always been opposed to touchscreen Macs

    WOW this video is good I can't believe it doesn't have more likes. I always thought AR and smart glasses were kind of stupid but this really changed my mind.

      the only attempts we’ve seen were either too ambitious for their time or just bad, so it’s understandable, they are the future tho

    OMFG, I LOVE YOU, i was hoping you say "a ring" and as soon as you said it i felt pure excitement, any other ways of navigation is terrible.

    PS. you forgot to talk about the camera

  • @i_make_beats

    I think instead of the ring having a touchpad-type thing, it should project infrared lights onto your hands that can be tracked by the glasses, so you don't need to make the glasses bigger, but still have hand-tracking. Then you could navigate with gestures and stuff, and there could be a gesture that puts a keyboard/trackpad on your table so you can use it like a Mac?

    Tbh replacing the iPhone would be a terrible idea considering they have to not only justify the added cons and the price and how it’s enough to replace their phone, the profit isn’t guaranteed like with the iPhone plus the amount of profit that the iPhone brings is probably enough to bring the u.s. a noticeable amount out of debt which is absolutely crazy

    I think it could not replace the iphone, for several reasons. For example u want to watch a movie with your friend or take a selfie, u will not be able to do that. I think i could be another wearable like an apple watch, but not replacing the iphone.( Well not in the near future)

    • @AndreaCopellino
      @AndreaCopellino  2 года назад +1

      The "watching stuff together" issue can be easily fixed if everyone has the glasses (which would be the end goal obviously), it would actually be a better experience as nobody would have to watch the video (or whatever it is) at a weird angle, and everyone would be able to easily decide size and distance of their own virtual screen, in regards of the camera, it's the problem I address in this video here: ruclips.net/video/yhXVoE22oM4/видео.html

    • @AndreaCopellino
      @AndreaCopellino  2 года назад

      Imo it could work in a couple of ways
      1) a virtual AR keyboard you interact with using gestures and "touching the air" (exactly how you would on iOS but without touching a display)
      2) the same thing but you use the ring to select the keys
      It would take some getting used to at first, but I think it might work (that's obviously if you don't want to use your voice)
