Jon having 10 seconds of being invincible but still running from enemy and dodging attack is 10/10 the MATN experience
John being surrounded by enemies and not using his AOE stun/dmg ability, only to dash away from all of them and use it on empty floor is 10/10 the MATN experience as well
As well as dismissing dodge chance, but as soon as he takes it later in the run it stops him taking hundreds of damage against Cerberus and Chronos.
It makes me feel good about myself
there is something particularly delightful about watching Jon get to experience more of something he loves, hearing the joy and excitement in his voice

One of my favourite things about Scylla and the Sirens is how when you take down one of them the instrument they were playing stops in the background music for the fight. Knew the title pun would be something like this.

Also Charon has placeholder art, though it kinda fits him.
But yeah, Narcissus is interesting. There´s something really strange about his voice to me. I always imagined him like a pretty-boi with soft voice. There´s also something going on with his reflection in the pool, that you can´t always see. So I´m curious what he´ll look like.

worth noting.. Hades 2 in early access has more content than hades 1 does now, it is absolutely worth grabbing this now

49:46 I'm guessing you didn't get a reward because the numbered doors are the 'express route', as the game said. There was a door that looked like it would give 3 poms of power right next to the door you actually took.

Guessing the death defy was from when your lucky tooth upgraded mid run. Think that refreshed it's use.
Also, first thing I did after watching this was go buy it. I loved Hades but never played the early access so I was a bit leary about getting Hades 2 in early access. I didn't want to be soured on it if it wasn't polished enough when I started playing it, but this already looks well worth the money.
I’m gutted they didn’t make Melinoe look like the actual Greek myth where she’s one side black and one side white, a bit like Cruella.
I actually really like this design, though her tiny skirt is (while probably normal in ancient Greece) just asking for constant accidental exposure
I nearly beat Chronos first try, got him to like half health on his second phase, I git the upgrades to the throwing knife where it came back to you and backstabbed, coupled with Apollo's "larger special that does a lot more damage" it practically replaced by basic attack

Jon not using his invulnerability to his advantage in the chronos fight, then trying to brute force the fight resulting in taking loads of damage was rough to watch. Not unexpected, but boy did that suck.
Can we get a full series of this?
As a note chaos is nonbinary lol, tehy looked more masculine last time and more feminine this time but they exclusively use they them. Just a note😅
Here's hoping for an at least several hour long livestream of Hades 2 sooner rather than later. For as much as you think there is to Hades 2 there's in fact already way much more. No foolin when people say that there's already more in Hades 2 early access than there was in the entirety of Hades 1 full release

I actually knew about xenia before Jon mentioned it. There's a town near me named Xenia, but they pronounce the x like a z. Cool to hear it brought up in a video.
There was a show called Xena Warrior Princess and her name was pronounced as Zena so the town being pronounced like that makes sense.

Somewhat sad, the video didn't start from the beginning of the game and instead a few runs in given Jon is seen with the sister blades, which take a few runs to unlock. Would have loved to see Jons impressions right from the start.
true, but as a youtuber you have to spend some time making sure the game actually runs and records properly. the hilarious ones are the games where he admits he started testing the game and then accidentally ended up playing several hours.. thats usually the sign of a very good game. :)
I get the desire to get a little to grips with the game first. Jon already gets constant -1 perception jokes. It's hard to both learn a new game while trying to commentate it at the same time.
In a review, you want the person to know what they´re talking about.
But yeah, this game specifically, I wanted to see Jon´s "first impressions".

If any game deserves to double dip as far as getting GotY nominations/awards it's Hades 2 because they've said that it's staying in Early Access for at least the remainder of this year.
Even in its early access form it is definitely up there among my GotY.

@@modelcitizen1977do you not know the Rule of Seth? Basically if you request something for 1230 days, like librarianseth did for Zoo Tycoon to be played, then Jon said he would honor the request. It's why there's a bunch of requests like this, they all plan to ask for 1230 days.
I will say this, I've played Hades, and I've played Hades 2. And I do agree, it is Better than Hades 1 in alot of respect's. However, Hades 2 is an Early Access game ATM. So, while I do Want to play more of the game, I really don't want too anymore. Because I've already hit the "Technical" end atm.
I will enjoy playing Hades 2 when it's Out of EA, but until then, it's still a great game. Just, one you really wanna wait for it to be finished if your thinking of jumping in.
Hades 1 is done so I can definitely recommend that.

I'm curious where Hades 3 will end up going if it gets made. I would love to see other gods like the Egyptians or Norse showing up to mess with Hades and finally all the bosses/gods you have met and fought in 1 and 2 join forces to give you boons to fight them. Maybe if you have a save file from 1 and 2 you can see gods you met previously and they give you more boons. Apollo and Horus argue about who does their job better, Aphrodite and Isis (the goddess please don't hurt me RUclips) complain about relationships, etc.

18:05 I've not played the previous game, and my Greek mythology is rusty, so is the turning someone into a sheep a Greek myth or previous game nod, or is it a nod to the hilarious Polymorph spell from Baldur's Gate 3, who Amelia Tyler (Hecate) was The Narrator?
Not necessarily sheep but being turned into animals is a really common thing in Greek mythology (although it’s usually Zeus or Hera doing it in response his affairs) although there’s also circe who turned men into pigs
I think in this case it's more of a witch trope than a Greek mythology trope

This is actually just a worse version of the first game , why make it like this when the first game was actually good ? Instead of keeping it simple they just added useless pointless shit to it .

"Titan of Time"? Chronos wasn't a Titan, nor even a proper deity, just a personification of Time. And Cronus, father of Zeus & Co. and who I assume the devs were going for, has no connection to the concept of Time.
I imagine the devs blended the mythology for Cronos and Chronos to simplify it all around.
Both figures have been conflated for centuries, starting in Antiquity itself. Cronus was a god of harvest and seasons after all, so the time motif was already there.
Its a thing thats been done for years now
Plus...fighting someone with time powers is a lot more intersting than someone who's main trait is harvesting wheat

Though Melinoe isnt as obscure as Zagreus. We at least know what Melinoe could have been the goddess of. Nightmares and madness for those curious is what she’s most commonly believed to be the goddess of.
It looks like the new "pact of punishment" system is called "Fear" (instead of "heat"), so that fits.
Really excited to see how the full game turns out when this is just the early access version!
(Also, pretty sure only they/them pronouns & gender neutral language is used for Chaos, both in this game & the first)
