Window replacement requires a great deal of decision making. Now that I have installed my windows, my biggest regret is making a rush decision due to pressure from the salesman. I chose the wrong color, and I chose grids. In hindsight, I should've known exactly what I wanted before agreeing to meet with a salesman.
Taking in the sights through the couple of grid-less windows in my home makes me wish that I chosen grid-less for ALL of my windows. Now more money will be spent trying to correct this decision. I can't paint the windows or else it voids my warranty. If throw the care of the warranty to the side and paint it anyway, I have to choose a color that doesn't clash with the GRIDS. I have an old fashioned home. With all the casing that installers bring, gridless windows would look just fine on this old fashioned home. (And yes I've lost sleep over this decision, so please take your time and choose wisely. Ask all the questions so that you have no regrets). On a positive note, the AC has gotten a break. It doesn't have to click on as much.

That is just the tip of the iceberg for choosing windows. I suggest looking at Dako, you can sort the windows by different categories.

Is it normal for my prairie parimeter grids in my picture windows that are near an entrance door to have alot of play when shutting the door? They don't rattle against the glass but the definitely wiggle like spaghetti.

Yes, that is normal for prairie perimeter grids, especially when they are near an entrance door. These grids are only supported at the corners and not in the center, unlike traditional grids. Because of this design, they can have some play and wiggle like spaghetti when the door is shut, even though they don’t rattle against the glass. There is nothing wrong with them; it's just how the design works.

Grids ? When did the name change occur ? I grew up with them being called muntins .

Thats a term we haven't heard in a long time! A muntin, muntin bar, glazing bar or sash bar is a strip of wood or metal separating and holding panes of glass in a window. There are alot of names, but we just call them grids for short! Thanks for the comment!

Advanced Window Systems, LLC I was taught that grids were the plastic or wood muntins that were removable for ease of cleaning . I think Anderson was the first that sold them . I'm a retired Union carpenter .
