Hope you enjoyed the onion lovers burger my friends!! I am leaving for Austin TX tomorrow for the next step in my journey as a content creator and I can't wait for you all to see the new amazing space I have to work in. HAPPY COOKING TO ALL!!!
Check out Cypress Grill while you're there. It's a local scratch kitchen and they do one hell of a job. And now I'm hoping to see you re-create their atchafalaya catfish :D
Thank you for being realistic on your onion cook times! It drives me nuts when people say they're going to "sweat" the onion for 2-3 minutes to make it soft and translucent. It takes way longer than that.
I've used several of your techniques and recipes and has bumped my "A" game in the kitchen. Friends tell me to open a restaurant. I tell them to watch your channel.
I cook burgers about once a week and I love the combo of grilled beef and grilled onions so much that I never make burgers anymore without also throwing a thick intact slice of red onion in the pan in between the patties. It's kind of delicate and tends to fall apart if flipped so I just leave it alone and cook it on one side and then set it on top of the flipped patty before adding the cheese.
I love onions and I'm definitely giving this burger a try! Maybe instead of "burnt onion mayo" use "charred onion mayo" so as not to put people off. But hey, you're the pro, and I respect what you do!
You have raised my cooking ability to completely new levels!!! Also I had friends over the other night and one turned to the other and said “holy sh*t this dude can cook” referring to me….. all I can say is thank you!
I am an onion lover myself, so I can't wait to try this out. That burnt onion mayo looks especially tantalizing, so I'll definitely be making some of that. I wanna get your thoughts on a few things though. 1) Instead of the browned onions, wouldn't you say jammy caramelized onions will stay on the burger better? 2) I would've put some raw, finely minced red onions with the water squeezed out and put them in the burger mix, almost similar to what is done with a koobideh kabab. 3) I feel like you missed out on adding raw white onion rings. Personally, I think you need the punch those bring to truly say that this is an onion lovers burger. If they're too strong, I'd say soak it in some ice cold water for several minutes to make it milder and let it remain crisp. 4) To bring in additional texture and crunch to your burger, I'd definitely think of adding some crispy fried onion strings on top, just to really bring the whole thing together. 5) As an option, I think some acidity will help cut back the richness of this burger. And since we are making this the ultimate onion burger, I'd say pickled onions are definitely the way to go for this. I have to stop commenting now because my stomach is boiling and my mouth is drooling. Thank you for the awesome idea, Sonny. You're definitely one of my favorite food RUclipsrs out there.
Looks great, semi smash sear on those patties really bring out the beef flavor! Love the touch with burnt onion mayo, gotta try that asap! Have a nice move, make sure you bring Sgt. Gilbert and the fridge with you!
I developed a 4x onion burger about a year ago: 1: Fresh onion (washed under cold water after cut) 2: pickled red onion (acid) 3: caramelized onion (sweet, savory) 4: roasted onion (crisp). Very cool using the same vegetable for different purposes! Highly recommend.
oooh could u tell us how you incorporated the different onions to the burgers?? just mixed together as a topping? or was it strategic like in this video?
@@hxhfan911 first fresh onions, pickled onions and some sorts of burger sauce, I like only mayo for this sort of burger, where you need the burger and onions to be the star. Then the burger (cheese optional tbh), top it with caramelized onions and roasted onions. Wet ingredients on the bottom and warm/dry on the top, to not mess up the cheese :P.
I absolutely love making crispy almost burnt onions! They are fantastic on almost everything. I even put them on top of sliced avocado for my healthy eating days.
Say you're getting the HELL OUT OF LIBERAL LAND without saying you're getting the hell out of liberal land... That Dude: I live in Colorado That Dude: I'm moving to Austin, Texas in 10 days...
Your reference to White Castle just hooked me. I am now a full-time subscriber to your channel. (after 25 years of waiting , we FINALLY got a White Castle here in AZ. Now they are planning a 2nd location!!) Talk about culinary delights!!!!
You did this one for me…I love onions! Good luck on your move to Austin. We live about 45 miles south of Austin. Lots of great restaurants, food and people. DM me if you have any questions…lived in this area most of my life. 👍
OH MY GOD. Oklahoma onion burgers are all the rage on YT lately. But for the love of all the culinary gods, THIS DUDE CAN COOK! This is perhaps the best conceived burger prep I have ever seen - the mayo with the ground charred onions is sublime. Sgt. Gilbert should be proud.
I get nervous when I run out of onions. To me, they're as essential as vinegar, salt, dish detergent...I can't do without them. I'd eat one of these every day for a week. Happy and safe travels, dude. Eager to see what's next. 😊
Is there a good way to keep onions from falling apart when doing the first two slices before dicing? I don’t cut all the way through but the onion almost always collapses before I can do the final chop.
Onion is my favorite ingredient in any recipe. I do a caramelized onion/bacon jam, raw onion rings, and sauteed onion burger all the time. Great video!
For more onion flavour, don't fry the onions but deep fry them in 4dl neutral oil. Use the oil to make mayo (2 egg yolks, 1 tbsp dijon mustard, juice from 1 lemon, the aforementioned 4dl oil). Follow the rest of the recipe.
I make a pretty darn good onion and garlic burger myself. I finely chop some good spicy onion and add A LOT to the ground beef. Like seriously, everyone thinks they wont hold together but they do. Add a lot of fresh garlic, garlic and onion powder, salt, pepper and Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce. Cook it up. Put it on a toasted bun of your choosing and top with lots more of RAW finely chopped onion, fresh parsley, ketchup and another splash of L&P. MAGNIFICO! Or, like tonight....im topping with sharp cheddar cheese and carmelized onion with a splash of cognac. WOW!
No, no, no, NO, the horizontal cuts do absolutely (almost) nothing. The damn onion is already full of horizontal cuts, experts call them "layers". By hacking in those few horizontal extra cuts you do not only waste time and endanger your fingers, but you really add nothing to the overall homogeneity of the cuts. Sure you reduce a small amount of over-long cuts, but you trade them for a few extra mini-crumbs. So the overall count of shitty cuts probably remains invariant. Not once have I finished a dish and after the first bite went "YUK DAMN - I wish I would have added a few horizontal cuts to the onion, this is inedible." Otherwise amazing recipe, as always ❤
All the love from Poland my friend. After 3hrs you get 8k views meanwhile Bon Apetit, guys that have their own magazine have 17k. You get the reference. You can grow and I enjoy watching you grow.

Facts! But also lots of oil helps the onions get soft and Translucent faster which is what many restaurants do as well to make cook times faster
FACTS 💯💯
I wonder what fucking witch or wizard magic these assholes who can "caramelize" onion in 10 minutes are using... Seriously!

@Ryan Trott i used beef from a local butcher. And I have no idea how meat in america is produced so I cant comment.
@Ryan Trott well I live in Sweden, cant say I've seen any gross meat in the supermarkets. Old beef does look super weird.
Hope the fridge makes the move without getting any dents or dings 😂

onion mayo is actually genius! This is the first time for me seeing something like this!
Looks great. Mushrooms on that burger would be good. I love Mushrooms and onions mixed together. Good luck on the move . Be safe.
flavor would definitely work but you start getting structural problems with the sandwich falling apart.
Some kind of fried onion or onion rings for texture would probly take it to even greater hights. But that burger looked amazing
i bet some black garlic would probably go well in that mayo as well
