He was also very good at looking after the dead. If you were an ass while you were alive Hades and his furies sent you to the bowels of Tartarus to be taught a lesson. It didn't matter if you were a rich person, a poor person, everyone was treated equally and justly accordingly to how they lived on earth. If you were good and kind you wound up in Elysium which is essentially a heaven realm within the underworld. Not to mention he also looked after the only truly evil individual in Greek Mythos in terms of the pantheon, his dad Chronos who literally tried to commit infanticide multiple times. They're born of the underworld. Since their parents are Persephone when she's Queen of the Underworld, and Hades, the lord of everything down there, they don't have any part of the world of the Living, meaning technically they aren't "alive", and can't partake in anything outside of the Underworld
Most adaptions keep the simple fact that because Persephone at the pomegranate, she HAS to stay in the underworld for the same amount if seeds she ate Plus she kinda has no choice but to go back, mortal lives hanging in the balance etc etc

But why would he bring back the person he needs dead to get what he wants? Children can grow to learn how to deal with loss, especially temporary. Instead of giving into his own selfish wants, Hades could have taught his children to be patient and occupy their time without their mother in other ways or helped shift their view on the situation. They all know she’s coming back, so why kill an innocent person without thinking of the consequences that could entail? Now they get to deal with the possibility of all of them dying. One thing about their situation I’d love to know is how Persephone handled the kids when they were babies as I think that would be an interesting insight as to how the children viewed her leaving

Sometimes some people don't realize how dead they could really be than Hades in this show. Compliant, yet broken. He willing chose to keep the peace by abiding his banishment yet he cannot sleep without hearing the screams of the damned. He accepted the less than justified consequence of being with Persephone for half a year each time and bear the responsibility of a house dad in that duration. Hades may rule Hell, but the gods have made his life into one.
Sometimes I wonder why couldn’t Zeus either force Demeter or give her the ultimatum to do her duties or face the path of mortal life and let Persephone choose another to succeed her mother as the new harvest goddess. Like let Persephone live her life and be truly happy with their children.
Zues can't do anything because in most versions he was the one who gave the blessing of hades and persephone's marriage as the father of the bride. Yes hades kidnapped her but only after zues gave the blessing and told him to take her as he knew demeter would never allow it if they just told her. Demeter is a very powerful dangerous goddess to trifle with, if they had approached her she very likely would have attempted to curse hades in some manner on the spot.
I mean if Demeter falsely accused Hades of kidnapping and entrapping Persephone, Persephone herself could’ve simply testified in defense of Hades, thus turning the situation in his favor. I really don’t see why Persephone should have to go back with her own mother to Olympus for six months. She’s a god, and one who can make her own decisions as an adult. Not mention, Hades has a contraption to aid Persephone’s need for sunlight anyways. Am I missing something?
In the end it wouldn't change anything anyway because there is no way to force Demeter to do her godly role. Even if Hades name was cleared and it was believed Persephone was with him of her own accord Demeter refused to do what she was meant to be doing until Persephone was returned to her. she refused to make/let anything grow and it was just winter If Demeter is removed from her position, Persephone is the one in line to take her place. So either way Persephone can not remain in the underworld and her family can not be with her above

Persephone had such a constricting and claustrophobic relationship with her Mother, it only makes sense that Persephone is a fantastic mother whose children adore her in every way. So much so, they hate being seperated from her. My mother was the same, I hated being away from her but her mother never wanted anything to do with her.
It's a bit sad but there are a ton of scenes far sadder, they can dislike the treat but it was fair, allow the people on earth enjoy the spring and she had half year to be with her family

I feel so bad for them all. She has to leave for SIX WHOLE months because Demeter doesn’t want her to be gone, she can’t be a wife or mother for half the year and her kids can’t go with her at all. They both want to be with her because they are her children, Demeter can’t understand why she is disconnected from her and makes the world die every winter because she’s selfish. They can't, cause unlike Persephone, they were born in the Underworld, while Persephone was born on earth. So in a sad way, nothing from the Underworld could ever last on the surface of the mortals, much like a mortal isn't allowed into Hades, unless they have died.
Its the contract. Basically demeter, after persephone's choice to stay with hades instead of going back with her, starts an unending winter killing many mortals. Zeus, trying to resolve the environmental chrysis, forces a compromise in which she has to spend 6 months on olympus and the rest she can spend with her husband (she ate 6 seeds of the pomogranate which bound her to the world of the dead). Persephone wants to stay with her family but, yet again, the controlling and hubrys filled olympians dont let them be. Thats why hades is so pissed off

The saddest scene was Hades realizing he has to go back to the underworld and stabs Heron. It’s was like watching a grown adult beat up on a kid.

I mean if Demeter falsely accused Hades of kidnapping and entrapping Persephone, Persephone herself could’ve simply testified in defense of Hades, thus turning the situation in his favor.
I really don’t see why Persephone should have to go back with her own mother to Olympus for six months. She’s a god, and one who can make her own decisions as an adult. Not mention, Hades has a contraption to aid Persephone’s need for sunlight anyways.

Also, we don't know which version is the true original version. Since there are multiple versions that date back to the same time period, and Persephone dates back to even before Hades

Persephone had such a constricting and claustrophobic relationship with her Mother, it only makes sense that Persephone is a fantastic mother whose children adore her in every way. So much so, they hate being seperated from her. My mother was the same, I hated being away from her but her mother never wanted anything to do with her.

He Is the most smart of the rest of them, unlike the rest. Hades never cared much for the mortals or the gods' doings he just continued on with how life went, only interfering when he was bored intrigued or when it involved his family.

Also, the trial could definitely clear Hades of any blame in the kidnapping matter which limits the number of gods that would advocate for a war.

Its the contract. Basically demeter, after persephone's choice to stay with hades instead of going back with her, starts an unending winter killing many mortals. Zeus, trying to resolve the environmental chrysis, forces a compromise in which she has to spend 6 months on olympus and the rest she can spend with her husband (she ate 6 seeds of the pomogranate which bound her to the world of the dead). Persephone wants to stay with her family but, yet again, the controlling and hubrys filled olympians dont let them be. Thats why hades is so pissed off
