Regarding the mantis shrimp vision: it's not that they can see more colours, it's that they don't have the brain power for shadows. So we have cones for red, green and blue that make us see colour, and then ones just to see how bright it is (I think they have a separate name, although I can't remember). Mantis shrimp just see colour, their extra cones are basically for different shades of colours.

I wish I could call Nisipisa to make fun of questionable fast fashion things before I consider buying them. I got the one with the black skirt, and it was somehow transparent and felt no thicker than giftwrap tissue paper. It was the length of a long shirt at best--I could not have walked outside in it without either wearing trousers underneath or exposing myself. i found the most horrendously funny old sweater second hand once, its a black crewneck with several leafs of different green-patterend fabrics (like white with green polka dots, green stripes etc) but the star of the show is the big frog in the middle of the leaves, right in the middle front of the shirt. The frog has big round eyes made of green plastic that are cut like gemstones and theyre held in round metal holders like a gemstone on a ring would. He also has a black and white striped bowtie that i believe was sewed on originally, but when i got him it was attached with a safety pin
I would never buy it new, cause it is objectively hideous, but i love it because i stumbled upon it. Found ugly things feel like they have personality in a way that new ugly things dont (i also love it because the frog is so very handsome in his bowtie)

That movie feels like a fever dream and the only things I remember about it are the sentiment Lincoln memorial, Ben Stiller kissing a monkey on the lips, and the little cowboy and roman general who have so many fan videos. It's like Destiel but with a 3in tall Owen Wilson. And the Remi Malek pharaoh guy was pretty cool. I cannot remember if there was a point in my life where I found him attractive or not. The contrast binding dress is a weird mash-up of a) visual reference to something famous, fancy, and highly structured, and b) shlubby modern fabric and construction. Also, clearly not midi length.

The turtle neck floral pattern zipper vest looks like something that would've sold at Gap Kids or Oshkosh B'Gosh in 2004. And my mom would've bought it for me.

As a twenty-something years old, my school did have a Computers class in middle school.
It was in one of those classes or one English class just before Halloween when the teacher showed us a video consisting of various gifs of 3D-animated, neon, very 2007-looking skeletons dancing to Spooky Scary Skeletons. I had never heard the song before and I LOVED it. It hurts my soul so much that the video is freaking deleted. I'd kill to see that video again.

I feel like the webkinz dividing line was more of a financial one rather than a age/time one. You had to purchase an expensive stuffed animal to play, instead of neopets being free to play. I could never afford one, whereas all the rich popular girls in my school had collections.

I have never seen a more aggressively homestuck-coded sweater than that green-pink-blue-crush-love-kitty cat thing. that HAS to be intentional, like its not even themed after homestuck as a whole, that sweater is very clearly based on a SPECIFIC CHARACTER. I need it.
