Is it possible to slip the Ridge Guard BETWEEN the plastic ridge vent and the top shingles ? Is the product RIDGE GUARD sold directly to a DIY'er ? I live in Houston, TX and like the design of the product VS 14 inch galvanized screening.
You should not have to put this ridge guard system on your ridge vents to stop animals from coming in clearly the bridge that was installed there's no way a scorpion ever getting my ridge vent
Don't like the idea of putting screws in my brand new roof. Is there a product that can be used before the roof is finished and the ridged cap is installed? Seems like a mesh over the ridge gap, followed by the ridge cap material, followed by shingles.

Good question. The answer is yes. Silicone is not recommended do to its inability to adhere to asphalt shingles .Your best options are a dab of Henrys wet patch or Henrys plastic cement.
There have been no issues with water intrusion when the product is properly installed. The screws are going on a portion of the roof that gets very little water exposure. These screws will be less susceptible to water leaks than exposed nails or screws ran at lower portions of the roof on things such as satellite dishes, internet receivers, etc.
The rubber washer under the head of that screw isn't going to be water tight because it's resting on mesh after you drive it down.

You see how a representative can't even answer your question that's because you're right you're not supposed to send screws right through the roof
It doesn't matter if your roof is new or old I don't know why that makes a difference
Do you need to silicone or use roofing cement over the screws to keep from
leaking?
Self sealing screws are included with kit.

Does it not leak through the screws? What keeps them from leaking?

You might wish to state on your web page the size of the sample costing $20.00
Thank you.
Are screws used on the top part? Seems like these Texas coons or ring tail cats would just peel it back.
The ones in Florida will go right through the shingles and plywood if they really want to get in/out!
Where can i purchase this item, can anyone tell me? Thanking you in advance
Call 574-325-5098 to order. Thank you.
Is this better than Peak protector?

Hi. I'm trying to decide between these two products. Can you share any info you got or your opinion? Thanks
The screws will be the first point of failure/leaking years down the road.
