Such good information Jaime! A lot of people diagnosed with PCOS are told they will have it the rest of their lives... The root cause of their symptoms is not looked into or even thought about.

I really had to pause this video. Bariatric surgery is the reason I was able to change my lifestyle and mentality. I would have never changed my life around. I was educated on foods, and have continued my education, that’s why I’m watching this video. I don’t have PCOS. However I’m very fascinated by how food directly correlates to illness. Bariatric allowed my whole mental process to evolve by having to withdraw from the Americanized diet.

I am sorry that you too have suffered from PCOS but feel like it has made you the best doctor to go to for it because it is personal to you. I am thankful you are spreading truth and helping so many people in the process.

I suffered with PCOS starting at 16. No one ever told me that a ketogenic diet would help me. I was able to get pregnant at 40, the day we went for a fertility treatment consult, my pregnancy test came back positive. Lucky, but my underlying health issues really caused me to have a risky pregnancy, post partum eclampsia and toxemia, thankfully, I survived. It took me about 5 years to feel normal again. Now my whole family is ketogenic. We feel so much better. I am hoping it will reduce the facial hair, embarrassing.

How is it going with the facial hair?

This was a great summation of a problem that is running rampant, and more importantly, it really drives home what the root cause of this problem is. Thank you for doing this video. You really should consider starting your own podcast. There are a plethora of male physicians advocating for low carb diets, and doing so on their own podcasts. It would be nice to get a few women doctors to do the same. Its nice to get a different perspective, and I am sure many women would be more receptive if the low carb message comes from a woman physician. Keep up the great work!

Thank you for this video that explains very well this syndrome, I understand better thanks to you! I have been diagnosed with PCOS and I have been on a ketogenic carnivore diet for almost 2 months. My acne has disappeared, my bood glucose is perfect, I no longer have hyperglycemia episodes (I have a glucose meter), I have noticed that I have less hairs on my body and face, my periods are very regular (28 days), etc. Fantastic diet!

So happy to see your RUclips! No history of PCOS but miscarried at 8 weeks with who would've been our #4 last summer. Having a hard time getting that weight off doing keto & low carb and worried about trying to conceive again (38 years old).

Great info! Came across your video while researching Keto/carnivore diet. I was diagnosed with PCOS in my late 20s after never having a regular period. I would go 6+ months without a cycle. I had to take metformin to get pregnant with my first daughter in my 30s. Because she was allergic to dairy, I went dairy free too. Almost immediately my periods became normal for the first time in my life. I was 34 and got pregnant with my 2nd daughter right way. I've been dairy free ever since. I'm jumping on the keto bandwagon to see if it helps me loose with weight that seems to be holding on for dear life.

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 10 back in 2000. At the time my doctor really didn’t have much info to give aside from losing weight. I tried Metformin when I was 25 and it unfortunately didn’t work for me, and I ended up going with WLS to lose the weight. Of course I hit a stall after a 100 lb loss and 2 pregnancies, and that’s when I looked into keto. I really wish I knew back then what I know today about weight loss and LCHF diets.

I went moderate to low complex carbs only (beans, lentils, low gi bread), high veggies and fiber and lost 18kg of weight, my cycle has gone back to 28 days, mid-cycle spotting stopped and my pms symptoms improved🎉🙌my dheas level are still higher than they should be but it's all the 'lower your stress' part, which is hard😅 there's definitely hope

Excellent and really valuable piece! Was diagnosed with PCOS many years ago...would have been great to have been armed with even SOME of this info. Any association between PCOS and diminishing bone density?

This is great info that all women should know so we can all understand why embracing to natural protect and provide for our fertility can protect and provide for many other good health conditions. Keep sharing as few doctors do this they are more interested in big pharma and a quick fix instead of options. PRayers and blessings.

It’s an odd syndrome. It’s vastly different for each woman suffering with it. And it’s so frustrating 😮 I was diagnosed based off of hirsutism and insulin resistance, but I ovulate every month and have regular periods. Never had an ultrasound on my ovaries, none of my doctors ever orders one. I guess the hair and insulin was enough criteria haha.

Although I ovulate and have periods, I do ovulate on day 20 almost every time and I have a short luteal phase/ low progesterone.

Hey doc! Thank you for this video. Do you have good resources for following a Ketogenic lifestyle in a case of PCOS? I have found that as Keto has become more trendy its harder to find good, science based resources.

Thanks for making this video!! Loved all the info 🙌🏼
I’ve been following a keto/low carb lifestyle for 3 years now. It’s done wonders for my pcos. Only thing I can’t get under control is my cystic acne, any suggestions on what I could try?

Maximize dietary interventions, then try other things like elimination of fluoride or adding saw palmetto. Spirinolactone can be an option, keep trying things. Also elimination of dairy for some patients

My daughter has been diagnosed with PCOS and is on a low dosage birth control pills. I have just started her on a keto diet and Intermittent Fasting. Since the PCOS is controlled by drugs, are there blood tests to see if she is addressing the actual IR? Her fasting BGL is totally normal, but she has put on kgs of belly fat lately and is having problems losing it. Thank you!

I’m 24 and have struggled with PCOS since I was 13 years old. This is the most information I’ve heard in years, as I also battle with hypothyroidism. My thyroid is under control and I struggle to lose weight, I’m guessing because of my PCOS. I’m not sure if you respond, but I was told because I have a history with a higher cholesterol I shouldn’t do a keto diet, is that true?

Would a cycle lasting longer than 28 days be considered criteria for PCOS. Like irregular periods between 32-50 days long?
