Thanks! I have been a drummer for over 30 years, so it comes with the territory. There is no quantize on this machine during live play, however for producers it does offer a quanitize feature on record & playback, essentially by "snapping" each beat to a certain point after it is played. To my knowledge, there is no way to quantize real-time, because how would the machine be able to sense a "late" note before it was played? There would need to be some latency, which would make playing live difficult. Interesting stuff nevertheless :)
Thomas Lampton Bickham the genre of the music that is being played. Drum and bass is a sub genre of jungle. Breakbeat/Jungle/DnB/and UK Garage are pretty similar in the concept of how the music is made.
Why is everyone in the comments acting like they didn't know drum machines existed? You think they were sitting on computers playing with wave forms in the 90s?
Spinscott this is one of the best tunes i ever heard. The drum program is outstanding, amen rolling mad as hell, flow in the absolutely right bpm as well. Epic dark bassline. Vocals are also pretty cool, a masterpiece no doubt.I love the scene since the beginning, i have heard tons of breaks. Old school hardcore, breakbeats, happy hardcore, jungle, drum and bass, breakcore, i love them all. this is definitely a 12" material that every junglist in the world must have. So please tell my that you have a full version on vinyl. I already know that you will put some of your familiar filters on it & it will be perfect. Don't let this anthem go away without being cut to kill. Its a crime against music. Peace.
its quite easy depending on your sequencer skills obviously... but not hard... thats the reason the beat is so popuar as it cuts up on 16ths perfectly...
1996 style at it's finest! For a long time I was a 95 fan, but tracks like this with that 96 vibe have made me appreciate how much more refined it sounds. I use a DAW exclusively for my tracks, but that's limited me to a more 94/95 sound due to how long a more complex track takes to make, vs mixing on the fly with an MPC . Keep up the good work man, and thank you for keeping jungle alive!
Agree jungle apparently peaked 94? Even thought that was just after the happy hardcore sound in 93. I know for a fact 96 has some crazy beautiful tracks.
I'm playing this on loop, absolutely outstanding! that second time around on the Amen, ive never heard that cut up programmed before, let alone on the pads (you'll kno the bit I mean)
Yes ... at some point of time we had "breakcore".... less funky . Same sound samples. Now. ..... i dont know : i was a fuckin 90's house techno breakbeats addict and composer. Today it's too clean. Thats why i personally go into so called """"trap""" and still trynna to make a life with personal xp shit. G_House still living . God save Chicago.
I've been drumming for 20 years, I can play just about any jungle beat. I can confidently say this man has over 2x my level of coordination. I have four limbs he has 10 fingers..!!!
SO COOL that you said this about the steering wheel! I basically developed all of my Jungle drumming chops back in 1990s by drumming along to tapes in the car constantly. Used to play along to 30 and 45 minute sides, and start over if I missed a single drum. Insane, but really drills the rhythms into the brain for sure! :)
Akali just dropped the MPC One. You could buy one. But you couldn't just do this out of the box because you can tap along to a beat. You have to respect this man's raw talent and practiced skill... and straight up black coffee ninjability
dude.. your sooo talented! love watching and listening to you, I'm 43 now, when i was younger i had a lot of cd's with the music you play life now! love it love it love it! greetings and peace from the Netherlands ✌
I'm gonna watch at least one of your videos every day after work until I see them all. I haven't produced music on my MPC in like 3-4 years but I sure will never sell mine. Thanks for the creative inspiration :)
Dude, fingers hurt after playing on the MPC... mine has been really barely used by me since like 2015... Do you have any modifications to your pads that help with actuation? Or are you just a beast lol
Thanks for asking! I put the MPC Stuff thick pads on it, which helps a bit. That said, I don't really ever have an issue with fatigue or pain, probably because I have been playing the drums since I was about 4yo. Built up the muscles for it long ago I guess :)
LOL! Believe it or not, it would be MUCH harder to mime this than to play it live. To mime it, I'd have to memorize each subtle rhythm variance and tempo variation. If you watch the video in .5x speed or slower, you will see that it is indeed played real-time just like all my other videos and live performances. Thanks for watching! :)
Yea, somethings off, sometimes notes he's hitting play seconds later when he's not hitting the same pad, also it sounds quantinzed in general . And when he taps to gate that one break, i think that's preprogrammed, someone correct me if that a function of the 1000. I'm with the mime theory as well
@@dougjones4837 what? You can hear super subtle variations that sync with his fingers. He has tons of videos like this one. Shame you can't recognize talent when you see it!
my face melted. how long did it take you to record the perfect sounds into your mpc/what was a record that you sampled heavily when you first started off????
Thanks! It is definitely a fun way to perform, especially for me because I have been a drummer for so many years and also a DJ. There's nothing that can quite match crafting a mix on turntables, combing 2 or more tunes uniquely to create a sound that is sometimes greater than the sum of its parts.... but being able to drum things out real-time really does create a different level of interaction with the music. I enjoy all of it :) :) And yes, Jungle is always one step ahead of it's time!

Mind blown 🤯 🔥
When Dr. Mix says it, you know it's true.
Jesus, the rhythm he keeps is just spectacular by itself.
Like any drumer or musician
He might have the inputs quantized (I think so), but that doesn't take away anything from the flawless performance.
Martin Myggestik that machine got quantise?

Brought me straight back to year 2000 for me. The year I went to my first big rave and used to listen to diesel boy
Nice, right about the same here. I did photography so I have some really up close shots of Dieselboy at various places from the stage, good times.
Was almost expecting you to pick up the coffee with your right and keeping the beat going with the left.
Morten Skarstad haha that'd be the move!
I should do that in the next video! :)
