I just got a little AKAI 8 pad drum machine as a gift - I have been a fan of Spinscott for so long, but HOLY SHIT you don't realise how difficult what Spinscott is doing actually is until you give it a go yourself! Amazing stuff and super inspiring.
@@rorz999 man same here! Been playing drums for years, can play breaks and amens on the kit, but when you take the feet out of the equation it is so different. But just watching these videos and paying attention to what he's doing is a massive help! Next level though haha
I thought drumming with fingers using a pad (akai MPX8 If I recall) was quite exacting- then I moved on to using a sampling drum pad set up (Alesis Samplepad pro).
I can say without any risk of contradiction ... The ability to do this in time and SO CONSISTENTLY is another level of skill most mortals can only hope to getting vaguely close to... and that's often by proxy.
This is not the music, this is blessing from the God. Thank you for the bringing such pleasure to our ears!

Would you ever give lessons in pad playing? So many of us want to learn so it'd be great if you put together a course on your channel or one that people could buy.
Learn how to play steady 16th notes to a click. Learn how to take your left hand out of it and keep going with steady 8th notes on your right. Look at his patterns and assignments.

@@boomieboo what drums (kick/snare/hat/shaker) are assigned to what pads.
Rarely does he ever deviate from a standard 16th note pattern with two hands. It's all about slicing the break properly the hardware, hand movement on the pads and assigning the pads in sensible ways.

I tried to let him know there's money in teaching others because there would be as many DJ's want to learn pad playing.
I volunteered his name along with a few others to Digital DJ Tips that works with big DJs like James Hype, DJ Angelo, Laidback Luke, etc to create DJ courses for students.
Not sure if he'd get paid more just doing it himself or working with DDJT. But either way, hopefully he doesn't just keep his knowledge/skill to himself forever.
