    Bearded nerd goes to GuamAlso known as America's start of the Day. Meets up with yet another friend of his to eat some cultural appropriate food, tour the Tourist areas, and just chillax on the beach.
    What a beautiful hidden gem that the USA has. It looks very nice and relaxing. But knowing what happens after this trip makes me kind of sad.

    I spent every summer in Guam for half of my life. My father lived there and most my family (on his side) are born/raised on the Island. Since a majority of my time there was in the early 90's, and if you were alive then, you know it was VERY different. It was rugged, rough, and BEAUTIFUL--UNTOUCHED. It used to be a long-distance call to call the states. The Mall was BRAND NEW when I was there!!!! A very big deal

I loved my time in Guam, going over to Fish Eye to snorkel was so fun Pirate cove & McKrauts on the other side is worth the trip as well. Only regret is not bringing my wife and kids over. The flight was just too pricey. Hope to go back soon.

    Buenas Yan Håfa Adai! I’m a native of Guam and you gave me a chuckle when you said the locals are called “guahans” 😆 this is not true, Guåhan is simply “Guam” in our native CHamoru language. Natives are CHamorus, and those who are not native but have lived in Guam for a long time are considered “Guamanians”… glad you enjoyed our little piece of paradise! You got a new subscriber here 🤙🏼

    This was a good informational video about Guam. Almost too much information, but pretty well done so I recommend watching 2 or 3 times. I lived on Guam for 2 1/2 years in the late 90's and I truly enjoyed it. The shops and along the sidewalks had a lot more people activity than what is shown here, but the was no pandemic. The pools, beaches, etc were just exactly as depicted in this video even when Guam was bustling. The reason is (and was not mentioned in this video) the humidity. The hottest temperature I saw (only once) was 94 F.
    Usually the afternoons would top out in the upper 80's, but the humidity is what makes it miserable. People from Houston adapt fairly easily, but those from drier climates have a tougher go. The people of Guam are quite friendly, and if you keep in mind that Guam is their home and show them a little respect, you will reap the rewards 10 fold.

  • @CHAM0RRITO
    @CHAM0RRITO 2 года назад +2

    The pools and beaches seldom get crowded with tourists because most of them are out shopping or doing tours. The average stay for a tourist is only 3 nights. So they don't have much time to relax by the pool or on the beach.

    I miss Guam, may be heading back soon though! It is crazy nice there, you are not exaggerating at all, it is just that great.I spent a year there ending just before the Pandemic in December 2019. You are right, it's never over crowded and 99% Japanese or Korean tourists, very few American tourists. It's crazy because it has it's own flare compared to Hawaii with a local culture and very Asian culture. So much to see and do, best beaches ever! Nice job on the Vlog!

    Your video did bring back some memories. When I was a kid we lived on Guam for several years shortly after the end of WWII. I used to hunt for old, rusty machine guns and other war stuff. They always warned us in school not to mess with unexploded bombs. A couple of times there were Japanese solders who figured out that the war was over and finally came out of the jungle and gave up. May years later I started working on cargo ships and we stopped on Guam for a day about once a month. Usually I rented a car a drove around some. It was interesting that a lot of the stores were packed with Japanese tourists. Going to Guam was a lot cheaper than Hawaii.

    Hello Adam, I am a new subscriber. Watching your Guam video now. Didn't realize that it is 7 hours from Honolulu. Geezzz that is far. I live in DC area. I would probably fly Southwest airlines to Houston and stay a night with my cousin. Get a whole new flight to Honolulu. Thinking an overnight of rest would allow me to better enjoy the trip.
    I do have one question. Since Guam is a US territory, is a passport or birth certificate being asked of passengers?
    I recall visiting Puerto Rico and no passport was needed, airport people like the shuttle service asked to see my driver's license.
    Thanks in advance for your time.

    There is 2 ways to fly in & out of Guam, Direct flight thru Hawaii, or, through Japan... the reason Guam Tourism caters to Japan, is because the Japanese or any other Asian Countries want to get away from their cold Winter season, n Guam is the closest to a Warm/Hot climate place to go to without having to spend so much to fly farther to Hawaii or the Main Land, and Guam relies on Tourism to keep the Island Financial Economy going

      There are many more than two ways to Guam. There are direct flights to Guam from Seoul, Manila, Busan, Saipan, several different Japanese cities, Taipei, Rota, Yap, Pohnpei, Majuro, Koror, and more.

    Never considered going there but I should. Course I audibly gasped when I looked at airline prices at moment. Maybe later after I get a raise or bonus. :) Looks amazingly pretty.

      I do, but I'm a lunatic. It'll be really hot in April, invest in using the Stroll app, or perhaps rent a car.

    Note: it's not HNL any more, it's Daniel K Inouye memorial Airport :P I moved and don't know if HNL still is in use since they renamed it.

    • @AdamEatsTheWorld
      @AdamEatsTheWorld  2 года назад +3

      It's 100% still referred to as HNL. The formal name and the airport code aren't the same thing.

    Nice vid bro! Just to let everyone know in a nice way, guahan means "Guam" in our native language. We're called Chamorro's

  • @omgRichelle
    @omgRichelle 2 года назад +1

    Guahan is the Chamorro word for Guam. Residents/people from Guam are called Guamanians, indigenous people are called Chamorros.

    FINALLY... after 28:00, I realized I'd been RIGHT there! Am I important now? That was in early 2001, after I "escaped" NO ONE'S version of the USA: The Philippines. Most Pinoys/Pinays are fine, BUT now I know why so many leave.

    It's too bad about the Santa Fe. I guess they couldn't survive the pandemic. I wonder if that place will be torn down and replaced. I've stayed there before. Although not in the best shape, it was still fine and the location was excellent right at the beach, around the corner from the busy area in it's own area. I love that little island you can swim out to. I was always surprised that more people didn't choose that place. I guess they like to waste their money paying 2 or 3 times the amount to stay in a fancier place, but I doubt any more memorable.
