I know it’s been a few weeks since my last video and a few of y’all been waiting on this... I’m sorry! I had to get my life together and get my bearings a little bit before I showed y’all around a place I was brand new to (I meany’all saw how discombobulated I was going to the gym while it was closed and not even recording the commissary😭). Lol anyways, I’m lovin Guam so far and I can’t wait to show y’all more of the island and really get into the groove of things💯 I appreciate all the continued love and support from each and every one of y’all and I’ll try to keep up the weekly videos. So until next time, peace and love people!✌🏿❤️
I'll see ya there
@@bry.7z 👀ayee bet. Hmu if you ever tryna link bro
congrats on your first car !!
@@lanae8995 thank you!
Peace and love brotha! I am a new subscriber to your channel and so far I am enjoying your videos. I myself am in the process of joining the Air Force but before I do I have to go through some medical things so wish me luck 🍀 looking forward to more videos from your channel
I want to say thank you for showing me around. My son is now stationed there and hearing what he was doing and where he was at, the gym and BX, I now can see it instead of just imagining what it looks like. lol he doesn't like to record like this. So thank you for doing this, you help out parents too!!!
No problem! Glad I could help:)
I am a old veteran that is planning to retire in Guam. I was never stationed there so your video actually helps me to know how to get around on base. I will probably be there around this time next year. I know as a service connected veteran I can use some of the things on base.
I’m glad you’re finally able to make it out here. The island is beautiful and you’ll definitely love it. Good luck and safe travels!
Me too eventually
Thank you for your service Joe my son is currently stationed there for the next two years!
Thanks for the awesome video, Joe! I was stationed on Andersen from 1979-1980 and remember those dorms but they have definitely changed. I remember I was on the top floor, pretty close to the middle dorm. The outside base movie theatre and the Latte Stone were very close. Best wishes to you and your future endeavors!
Enjoy yourself Airman.. Great video, back in the 80s we were the first group to move into those brand new dorms. For me, Guam is the best place on Earth. Thank you for the fantastic video.
Thank you sir! Guam to this day is one of the best places I’ve ever been. Wouldn’t trade my experience there for the world.
Thank you for the video of Andersen AFB. I was stationed there from Feb 1993 to May 1995. About the only thing that doesn't appear to have changed is the outside of the barracks. The inside however used to be two people per room sharing a bathroom with two other people next door. I could go on and on about the changes that I noticed from your short video. Absolutely loved it there! Logged a whole lotta dives. Enjoy your time there!
Thanks for watching. Yeah they’re doing a lot of construction and renovating right now actually so I’m sure there’ll be even more changes in the near future
Omg dude this brought back so many memories of me and friends walking around 😭 good times in Guam
🥲glad I could take you back down memory lane man
Hey thanks for the tour! Great job. I have to tell you, things sure have changed at Andersen since I was there as a young teen. I was a dependent and used to go to the old gym and play ball with the airman. They were so cool. I was pretty good, at six feet at age 14, the airman always let me play. All of those buildings in your video were not there when I was there (70 - 72). Dad was a navigator on B-52’s and flew a ton of missions to Vietnam. I really miss my time on Guam. I want to go back but I’m afraid nothing would be the same. Oh well, that’s life. Thanks again!!
I’m glad I could take you down memory lane a little bit lol. A lot of the dependents still hoop with us and the guys are pretty good so it’s nice to see with all of the changes made since you’ve been here, some things remained the same
Thank you so much for sharing Joe l have dear ones over there now and l just wanted to see their world. I wish you all the very best.
Thank you for the tour. I was with the Aerial Port from 1969-71, with the 605 MASS.. The BX was across from the barracks, just a small building. Spentost of my time at Tarague Beach. Nights when not working was washout theater, since it rained every night a plane came in fro. VIETNAM. Thanks again. Brought back memories.
Mark Itzko ( sgt when I was there)
Thank you for your service mark! Glad I got to take you back down memory lane💯
It's very nice! When I was in the Air Force(in the 1980's) you usually had two to a room so it's nice that you have your own room. Thanks for the tour! The Air Force was great!
Yeah I’m goad they made that change😅 lol
I was stationed there between 1986 and 1989. To say that everything has changed is an understatement. Nothing looks the same! I looked at the base via Google Maps and wow is all I can say. I would love to visit there sometime and take my two youngest kids because they were both born there. Thanks for sharing this video!
Man they were doing so much construction when I pcs’d a few months back! It’s be crazy to see what it looks like a few years from now! I definitely plan on going back sometime.
Hey! Thanks so much for the tour. My husband got his next orders here, glad to see what we're getting ourselves into haha!
I’ll be there this summer! My first assignment! Going for Fire Protection!
Ayeee that’s wassup! Our shops are right next to each other so I’ll definitely see you around. Hmu on ig or snapchat💯
Good stuff. Thanks for doing what you do. Guam looks like fun and clean.
Hafa Adai Joe! First of all thank you for serving as a fellow US Airman! I am a native of Guam currently living in OK. I retired in 2004 and have done 2 tours in Guam active duty and 2 tours as a contractor and will hopefully be back in a couple months for my third but on the Navy side. Guam is a great place to serve and I hope you enjoy the full potential that Guam has to offer. Great vid and if you have any questions don't hesitate to contact me. Take care.
Tony
Thanks tony for your service and kind words! I love your homeland and am glad to be here! Definitely plan to make the most of my time here lol
The best part of living in the transportation dorm when I was there in 89 to 90, Right next to the Class 6 store, literally a 3 min walk from my room.
I miss it so much. My childhood memory's from there mean a lot. Played lots of ⚽️ there. Helped me get to where I am now
Yeah man I love it. Where you at nowadays?
@@joemilleriv Maryland, not the best place to be compared to Guam but I can't complain. How's you journey in guam going?
Airman Miller, I spent 3 years on Anderson as a 461 back in the early 80s. I learned to SCUBA dive there and I recommend that for everyone on Guam. I spent a lot of time with the locals as a DJ on weekends and such. It was a lot of fun back then. Will always remember Tarague Beach and Talofofo Falls. Enjoy your time there young man.
Thanks dave! I still gotta go scuba diving!
I was stationed in Guam in 1972-73 with the AirForce on Anderson. Been awhile, but I still remember a lot of the place. One place I remember was Talofofo falls. About it being not to big, my bigest thing to do was to go on a bus tour of the rock which ended up being a drinking tour. the other thing that was big was doing laundry.
While I was there, we lived in tents, but that was because of the war. I was a jet mech working on the B-52's, F-4's, F111's etc.
The weather was quite warm with high humidity with our leetle friends the camillions who were our bug catchers.
Anyway, just wanted to shove as much as I could in this reply. Hope things are great for you and really enjoy your time!
Thanks James! Sounds like you had a great time while stationed here! lol. Hope life is treating you well these days
Thanks for sharing. Brings back a lot of memories. My dad was stationed there in the 80’s and lived there for 5 years. That street where your dorms are at is where President Ronald Regan and I waved at each other when he was touring the base.
Wow man nice! I’m sure a lot has changed since then lol
@@joemilleriv That's one of the things I enjoyed about revisiting Guam in 2010, it looks just about the same with some slight new editions, it was like going back in time for me. The base added the newer BX and the DOD school since I left, but everything was pretty much the same besides the interior upgrades. Before the DOD school was built, a lot of us went to that UPI school near the back gate formerly (Andersen Elementary) . Enjoyed your visit toTarague beach I enjoyed the beach parties and eating Lechon. Please continue with your videos, they are very much appreciated.
Wow! I have a lot of memories on that island. It was my first duty station from 09-13. I was there during a lot of the renovation they've done to the dorms, buildings, BX, etc. It was very nostalgic watching your vid man. Even had my daughter there down at big baby! Hooped a lot at the gym. Always got cut up by Nilo right out the back gate. I don't know if he's still around but definitely check him out if you can. I can go in and in about the love I have for that place but enjoy it while you can brother!!
Glad I could bring back some of those fond memories man. I’m trying to soak up every minute of it because I know one day they’ll just be memories to me too🥲 gotta enjoy it while it lasts! Lol
I was there from 2010-2012. I sure remember Nilo tho 😂
Something that helped me save money for food that might help you is, find low cost substitutes for each meal and stick to that and only switch out a few things for variety like once a month. Like fore example I always get Sara Lee bread with egg whites and turkey sausage for breakfast with cheese and hot sauce. Stick to quick and easy meals and change little things when you get bored of it to save money.
Bet bet bet. Dually noted📝 thank you lol
I was stationed on Guam 1969-1970. The barracks (dorm) you have just got built and got A/C 6 months later. Your rooms have been renovated. We had 4 guys to each room (2 metal bunk beds). Your BX looks like a Walmart where ours was more like a bodega. The locals were still pissed at the Japanese because of WWII, now the Japanese own most of the hotels. As an airman I couldn’t afford a car I had a rebuilt scooter that I co-owned with another guy.
Good for you a tour of Guam is no longer “time on the rock”.
Wow. It’s crazy to hear how much has changed since you were here. And for the better it seems like lol. One thing I know will never change is how beautiful this island is though
Thank you for your service by the way🫡
Our grandson is just finishing up his training at Sheppard Air Force Base. He will be coming to Guam in August and will be stationed there for 3 years. My husband has been there a few times. He served in the Air Force for 38 years and retired in 2018.
Thank your husband for his service🙏🏿 and congrats to your grandson. It’s a beautiful island with lots to do so if he has any questions or concerns when he gets here make sure he lets me know!
Welcome to Guam, Joe! I wish you the best!
Dude, uam was my first duty station, thanks for the memories of Guam. The dorms have not changes from the 80's , I loved the place. So So much fun... My first car was a Guam Bomb... if you know about them, if not ask any local. Move off base if you can, life there is so cool...just don't be late for work. Trust me not Good!!!
Lol yeah I bought me a guam bomb too😂 and I unfortunately won’t be able to move off base while I’m here since I’m single and this is my first base lol. I’m glad I could bring back some good memories tho💯
Great job on the video. I was thinking about coming here next and it was nice to see it before adding it to the list.
Thanks man. And yeah I’m loving it so far! I’m glad I put it #1 on my list!
Stationed there 91-92, loved it.
Thanks for posting this vid! Watching this brings back so many great memories. I grew up on that base from k-8th grade. I remember when the bx used to be that building located to the right of the commissary lol
Hey Joe,
Great Memory’s!
Was stationed in Guam 1987,
My son Josh is there now.
All the best!
Looks like the supply dorms?
Boony Car as a name.
Nice! That’s funny how y’all both got stationed here. I’m hoping he likes it as much as you did when you were here. I’m sure a lot has changed since then
Great video! Guam looks beautiful.
I’m going to be stationed in Guam in a few months after tech school and I’m from there so i was anxious how the dorms looked. Are there new ones that are built?
Proud of you. You're a good young man. Enjoy and keep it up!
Thank you:))) (sorry for the late response😬)
Hello from VA. I know I'm like 2 years late on this video lol But I came across it because I was wondering what Guam looked like. Looks like so much fun. Enjoy it! I'm 38 now but regret not joining the military. It looks like alot of fun and lots of adventure.
It is an adventure for sure! Although sometimes I question if I want to make it a career, I never regret joining lol
Great video young man! Looks exactly like my dorm 93-94. Hope you enjoy the short tour! I was there for the "Great Quake 93". Take care. Thank you for you service!
Yep! I pcs’d right before typhoon Mawar hit. Guam has definitely had its fare shares of beatdowns from natural disasters:/
I used to live on Guam!! I loved it! 4+ best years
I love your videos, I want to go back to Guam some day! I was born on Andersen Air Force Base, my dad was navy, NATO! We were only there for four years but, it’s so beautiful it’s my goal to get back there.
Thanks! And yeah you definitely gotta come back some day now that you’re older. I bet it hasn’t changed too much since you were born lol
I was stationed there in 1969-1972. My wife and I visited again in 2023 after 51 years
I’m glad you came back to visit! I plan to do the same one day. How much changed in the 50 years since you were stationed here?
@@joemilleriv I was really wondering how the base had changed. I refueled B52s and everything else… during Vietnam it was busy… so I noticed no activity.. which was eerie… off base … we found Calvary Baptist church that we attended and it hasn’t changed much. There are more roads for sure but we were able to go around the island easily. It was hot and humid just like I remember. We had a good time, a nostalgic time for me. I miss that time in my life.
Wish you all the very best in your Air Force career and your time at Andersen AFB and in Guam! I retired from the Air Force a while back (2005, to be exact) and I also happen to be from Guam. Take good care. 👍
Thank you for your service! And thanks for the well wishes. You homeland is gorgeous😍
Enjoy every minute, dude! This was my first base too...AB thru A1C and also 4th base TSgt / MSgt. You'll look back one day and miss it!
I’m soaking up every single second of it! Lol
Nice video dude. I was stationed at Andersen 04-07. Hasn't changed much but I knew ya'll got a big ass BX/Commissary. I just retired last year...best of luck in your career bro!
Congrats for retiring💯 and thank you!
Harvest baptist is an amazing church there I attended. Great place for new people to the island.
I love harvest! Hope to come back to serve one day:))
I’m taking my ASVAB Thursday I’m so nervous but excited!
That shit is easy if u studied , also review ur mechanical and electrical and science , math is a breeze and arithmetic I scored low in it idk how I felt like I got everything correct but I didn’t lol
Facts💯 couldn’t have said it better myself
Joe! Outstanding. Congratulations on the car. Call her SUNSHINE. Enjoy yourself. Be safe
“Sunshine” I like it😂 And thank you🙏🏿 you too

Thanks man! I really wanna hit up japan next. Hopefully travel opens up so I can fly over there along with a few places around here in asia while I’m on this side of the world lol
Love the video dude! You make some pretty great content! Keep up the great work

Thank you Afaisen:)) I love your homeland
i lived in those dorms in 1990. i was in the army working at the andersen veterinary clinic. it was 2 airmen per room back then. there were wall lockers where your fridge is.
Oh wow😳 I’m glad they made that change so we can all have our own rooms now lol. It be hot and cramped as it is with just me in the room😂
@@joemilleriv my advice is to use the DFAC 3 times a day because when you are a veteran, you will miss it
@@mikehascats26 bet💯
Hi Joe! Thank you for sharing this video. I was there from 1968-1973. Then we had the super fort theater and the pool. Tarague beach was the place to go. On the way, we had a stick dinosaur sticking out of the boonies. There was a cave all the brass would party in. I think it collapsed during an earthquake. Don’t worry about those. Just hold on and stay away from the beach. :))))Dawn Lee
Thanks for sharing Dawn! As much as times have changed, some things haven't (we still love
beaching at Tarague, and exploring the caves lol)
I was there in the 80s. Be sure to take vacations to South Korea, Japan, Australia, and nearby islands. Guam would be a wonderful place to give scuba diving a chance. I remember going down to Hotel Row (is it still called that?) and going to the night clubs.
I haven’t heard of hotel row. They might’ve rebranded it to one of the newer hotels. But yeah you’re right about traveling. I wanna make my way over to the neighboring islands so bad!
@@joemilleriv That's just the slang we used. Get some night life clothes and head to Pacific Islands Club Guam, Dusit Beach Resort, Sheraton Laguna Guam Resort, or Dusit Thani Guam Resort. There are usually a lot of Japanese tourists, many of them are cute!
@@drchaffee bet! Lol
I was stationed there '96 - '97 assigned to the AMC squadron back. The dorms look the same.
Nice! Yeah man i keep hearing that not much has changed lol. They finally started renovating the dorms after I left tho:/
Thanks for sharing this video, I am getting stationed there in august! I have been curious about the barracks and gym etc.
Yeah man np! Sorry I forgot ab the gym in this video. It’s a decent gym tho. They got everything you need, plus a lil more. Bball court, racquet ball courts, cardio room, allat stuff. I’ll try to feature it in a future video to show you guys
Awesome man! I’ll be there august 4th.
Is there wifi in the barracks?
@@garrettcarlisle6633 you gotta buy your own wifi but I’m ngl, the internet on this island isn’t the best, especially if you’re a gamer
Coming there next week can’t wait !
Ayeee how was your move bro!? Sorry ian been on yt for a lil minute. Took a lil break
Hope your opinion remains after your entire tour of duty. Thanks for sharing positive posts about the island
My opinion hasn’t changed in the past year yet lol
good stuff brother the video was very entertaining, best of luck with everything brother

You mentioned a name for your car- I lived there in the early 80’s when my dad was stationed at Andersen. I remember everyone called the cars there Guam Bombs! I’m sure the cars are better now! lol We lived on Kwajalein Lane. Looking forward to more of your Guam videos!
Lol we still call em that!😂 I named em mamba tho🖤 thanks for the comment tho!

Wow this was great info guam is my first duty station and i’m very nervous about going but this video definitely helped a lot i know i’m very late though lol
Yo man I’ve been here a few months now but I wanna thank you lots for this I was really curious on what I’d be getting myself into when heading to Guam
No problem man thanks for watching💯 how you likin the island so far?
Prayerfully you will enjoy Guam...I know we did & its really progressed sister we were there, before you were born (1988-1990). Our daughter even worked @ the commissary. Are the quonset huts still there? The movies were open spaced 🤭. Keep your car and sell it at the end of your tour, that's what we did (called them booneymobiles)🤣,b/c of the rust. As for meals, it may be hard, being as you don't have a stove 😥, but I'll be thinking up some. Thx for sharing & your service. Stay safe.
Thanks for all the advice Jacqueline!💯 I hope I enjoy my time here like you did! :)
Great video! Was there 89-91. Too bad you couldn’t show the gym. Spent a lot of time on that court and weight room.
Yeah sorry bout that:/ I’ll try to show it off in a future vid. I doubt it’s changed too much since you’ve been here lol
Is there a lot of parties in the dorms with like rock music and people drinking beers?
It's not as crazy as you'd think. They've cracked down on that a lot since I've been here. Most people go out to Tumon to the bars and clubs to party.
My family and I are about to PCS here thanks for sharing this 👌🏻
Welcome to the island and good luck
welcome to Guam. like you said, its a small island but its nice and wherever you go you're always near a beach. when the island opens up and activities start up again you should come to our village fiestas... everyone's invited. just walk in to people's houses that are celebrating and eat up. just be nice and respectful.. its all good.
That sounds like a great time! I would love to be a part of that. Hopefully by this summer things start getting back to normal🤞🏿
I grew up here! Thanks for this!
I love your homeland! Lol
When I was there in 1972 there were no dorm rooms like that. We had 4 guys in one small room
Phew! I’m glad times have changed since since. I barely liked sharing a bathroom😂
Great video. Thanks!
Hi Mr. Miller, thank you for your service. My son just got to Guam today for his FDS. He is in quarantine as you probably know. My question is, are you able to get internet in the dorms? And what cell phone service is best for Guam? Thanks in advance. Would love for you to meet him.
Yeah man tell him to hit me up on instagram. It’s in my bio. I’d love to meet him and answer any questions he might have. To answer your question tho, Docomo is the best. They have internet and phone bundled plans.

My man! Was so happy to see your car on the reveal! Smart move paying cash for such a reliable vehicle! Will definitely serve you well and you didn't waste any hard earned money! Stack while you are there and get all the training/experience you can get! And stay away from the chicken 🐔 heads and mud ducks! They're nothing but trouble!
LOL Thank you!
Hey,
Thanks for sharing this video. I was stationed at AFB back in the 80s and lived on base. Please roll to 2051 B Plumeria BLVD and let me know if it’s still standing. I’m assuming it’s been demolished based on the many upgrades I’m seeing. Also a video suggestion and that is to record the drive down to bases beach Tarague (don’t quote me on its spelling 😬)
Oh cool! How’d you like it when you were here? I’m sure a lot has changed since then lol. I’ll see if I can find that street you were talking about and let you know if it’s still up too!
I get what your saying with the adjusting before showing us the viewers your practically new life style! take your time!
Glad you get it! Lol
Why did you sell your clothes back home ? Instead of just keeping them for when you come home ?
I honestly wanted to start over on my wardrobe. I wanna move towards a minimalistic lifestyle so all those clothes and shoes were just clutter. And I won’t be home for a minute so they’d just sit there uselessly. Might as well bless someone else wit em
Just out of curiosity, did they provide you a chair for your desk or no?
Yes! They did!
My family lived at 2000A Polynesian drive. If you can drive by, I would be thrilled. Whenever. Beautiful Guam bomb, car. Ours was rusted, you could see the floor.
Are you still in Guam?
At least it had a floor. Ha
ayyeee. i'm leaving to guam at the end of may! hopefully we can link up and hoop. safe travels though. i'm glad you love it there.
Ayee wasgood bro how was your move? Sorry ian been on yt for a lil minute so ian see your comment till now:/
What’s your AFSC? I retired in ‘18 but was stationed there back in August 2003 - December 2004 and lived in Saipan Hall. I really didn’t care for it back then. The island was trashed from a super typhoon from 8 months prior to me getting there. We butted heads with the locals and a lot of us ended up getting into fights because of the locals. Hopefully, it’s better now but I vowed never to go back.
Yeahhh they’ve cleaned up a lot. Still not the best but it’s commendable. There’s been a few fights here and there mostly involving people getting drunk but other than that, everybody seems to be getting along well
I love it here tho and am thinking about extending. Ig everybody has a different experience tho because I know some people who can’t wait to leave lol
@@joemilleriv I will say though, hands down, my best assignment was at Hill AFB, Utah. Sooooo many beautiful women there and it was difficult to find an ugly woman. If you ever get the opportunity to go there, go. Even if it’s just driving through. You won’t regret it.
Mr Plaid Dad, sorry you visit wasn’t enjoyable. Why you got into fights with locals is so sad unless you where looking for trouble. The states has locals in more ghetto areas that has gangs, it’s the same everywhere. Vallejo, Ca has looked so raunchy now compared to the 70’s when I 1st visited relatives then. I am a native from Guam 🏝✨ & lived there for (55yr) now living in SA/TX. My Dad is a Medical Dscharged AF on AAFB due to health reasons & once he got out my parents decided to make Guam their permanent home then & loved it. We travel back to the USA for vacation ever so often. Our youngsters juvenile causes trouble with other ethnic cultures, typical everywhere. Other islanders like (the Chuckies FSM) mostly migrated to our island for college, work, medical reasons etc has domestic issues, there men loves to drink & cause trouble & have fights within their communities & some of our local youngsters. You’ve mention you lived in Saipan also & much smaller island & one of the (3) Marianas Islands as Guam as separate & largest island. Saipan is beautiful & love to visit the place to get away from Guam on a mini vacation. There hotels are main area for shopping & entertainment, like Guam for tourism. You came to Guam at a time of the pandemic ? Guam has changed for the better, more activities to do out of base to enjoy. When we came back home bc my Dad’s duty station at AAFB-Guam it was very remote & not to developed then in (1959) 14yrs later after WWII the USA Marines invaded our island from the Japanese that war broke out bc of Pearl Harbor bomb in (Dec 07, 1941) by the Japs as well. Thank God USA liberated our island & our people liberated from (3yrs) of torture & hardship. So the USA military govern the island until 1970 US Navy turned over control to our Chamorro people to govern our people. Under the Organic Act of Guam by the US & the military bases continue to live on island because of being a US Territory of the USA & Congress made natives to become US Citizens but unable to vote for US President not like Hawaii that became the 50th State. Anyways, don’t promote bad things about our island it’s worse in the mainland & crimes there are very gruesome compare to a smaller island. It’s all within the attitude. Coming sense if you sense trouble then move from it. It’s everywhere, we live in a imperfect world with good & evil. You chose how you want to live wherever you go. You should be grateful you where stationed in a US Territory then other places that wasn’t under the flag 🇺🇸
@@mersase1 Preciate your response. I love your island and everything about it. How’re you liking texas tho? I’d like to make my way over there sometime as well
I don’t remember seeing a stove in the dorm, do the grocery store sell meat ?
We don’t have stoves in the dorms themselves but we do in the common areas, similar to college dorms. And yes the grocery store sells almost everything you can find at a regular grocery store
thanks Joe nice tour
Thanks mack!
Since tu/vous has an automobile, do tu/vous explore the island?
Of course!
Name for the Civic: "Blank Bomber" ;) No disrespect :) I had a fist generation Hyundai Elantra out there in the mid-1990's. People living here temporarily sometimes call their cars they pick up on the cheap "Guam Bombs" :)
Lol Yeahh black bomber would’ve been great, because it definitely was a bomb😂
You bought your tv and whey protein while being there or what?
Yessirr. My roommate actually gave me his tv because he just moved out last week lol
A bro I’m heading to Guam next year do you know what the policy is for single SrA will they be staying in the dorms ?
Yoo sorry I never responded. I went asking around to get the answer to your question cuz I didn’t know. But to answer your question, yes. If you’re a single sra, you can move off base. Just get with your leadership when you get here and they’ll lead you through the process💯
Can wait to join the Air Force fr fr
