Will always be a place in my heart for this sweet ballad and the burrito brothers. Such a warm song of tenderness. Love them.
The early start of country rock. PLEASE play "Hot Buritto #1". the video is a true time capsule! Gram Parsons made an important impact on music and then left us way too soon!
Gram Parsons left behind such a treasure trove to have passed at such a young age.
This album, The Gilded Palace of Sin, is deservedly in Rolling Stone magazine's top 500 albums of all time.
Gram Parson's influence is all over this song, he is lead vocals, also
Aretha! Gram Parsons was a force of nature, albeit briefly. He was from central Florida, born of a star-crossed but VERY WEALTHY family. His life was marked by repeated tragedy and was, in my opinion, a marked man.
Guilded Palace of Sin is my favorite album of all time. The Burrito Bros are awesome
That album is on my top five albums ever❤️
This is Gram Parsons. Check out his ground breaking albums with emmylou Harris. Dead at 26.
Not to mention the story of what happened after he died.
The Queen of soul owns this song.
Gram was the Man!
The Flying Burrito Bros brought a refreshing dash of country to the rock scene around the west coast in the 1960's and the driving force behind their turn in musical direction was the legendary Gram Parsons. Grams's quavering, distinctive vocals and the unabashedly traditional country backup with prominent steel were the consistent hallmarks of their recordings. It is a real pity that Gram died so young during the mid 70's as he surely was set for stardom. His duets with Emmylou Harris are particularly memorable and you should seek some of them out, Don, e.g. "We'll Sweep Out The Ashes In the Morning". Another spot-on review, Don, and keep rocking dat country. BTW, dude, you are right about the Irish nationality of the band which starred in the film "The Commitments" (1991) which featured some powerhouse soul/r'n'b singing and musicianship. It was set in 1980's Dublin.
Unreal third harmony in the chorus by David Crosby
Gram Parsons was very influential, brought Emilou Harris into the country scene.
It's an R&B song - Aretha Franklin sang it. Also on this album they do Dark End of the Street - similar and I think written by the same guys - Chips Morman and someone else. Personally I like their version of Wild Horses better than the Stones
"The Commitments" Yes!! Great movie and soundtrack!!
Guilded Palace Of Sin!!!
I think that «woman» you hear is david crosby😂
@SweetAnnie Rich LOL!! If that is true, I am probably gonna laugh pretty hard!
@@RockN2Countryit is😂, but thank you so much reacting.
David Crosby sang the high harmony on this.
Also Joan Baez does a cover of this I think
i believe that the fellow second from the left is Gram Parsons, also the lead in the harmony.....listen to Hickory Wind to hear rthe same voice it was Aretha
In the first picture that was Chris Hillman that is second from left (blue suit). Gram is second from right with his arm around the girl
How great is Chris Ethridge on the bass here? Man, I haven’t listened to this song in a while. Few bands could do an Aretha song justice, but they do
I like this but it does have a familiarity to it. Awesome pick, Captain! Love and hugs for all~stay safe!
You really need to do more research into FBB and Gram Parsons. He was very close with Keith Richards of the Stones, there is some questions about who wrote “ wild Horses” and the time they spent in France. Also Chris Hillman influence over the whole sound of the Byrds and other bands that were influenced by him during the 1970’s. The FBB were at Altamont as one of their final shows. Sneaky Pete Kleinow ( pedal steel) was a Hollywood illustrator of some renown. Topping it all off of course was the kidnapping of Gram Parson after his death and attempting to burn his body in Joshua Tree..... quite a story
The burrito Brothers always remind me of the Eagles. This was written by the legendary Chips Moman
and the even more legendary songwriter, Dan Penn.
No gram, no eagles
Eagles were a watered-down, bland version of the Flying Burrito Brothers.
@@fuchsiaswing8545 Absolutely!
Gram Parsons was lead singer died way too young was instrumental in bringing fame for Emmy Lou Harris she wasn't in this
David Crosby on “high” harmony vocals on the chorus.
Gram stole Crosby’s girlfriend and then replaced him in the Byrds. Crosby righteously sang on the song anyway.
Doesn’t pay to hold grudges
DC once said "Gram stole my girl, but I liked him anyway." Good for David.
The Flying Burrito Brothers' Do Right Woman was mother's milk to my neo-country soul. These boys teed up the tune for Aretha to knock it out of the park.
Well, except that Aretha did it several years before the FBB cut it.
@@acostiablown thanks for the update, good info, but I was high during this entire time. GOOD memories. Undoubtedly emotionally flavored experience savored in the present. Undoubtedly highly inaccurate, no offense meant. Graham Parsons, hero worship? These days, I appreciate Aretha Franklin version more. Different songs really.
The Committments
i meant second from the right
David Allen Coe sang a line in a song, " I heard the Burritos out in California could fly higher than the Byrds/birds....." so everyone knew he was talking about pot but he was referencing how high this band was. Higher than The Byrds,.....maybe or maybe just regular Ole birds.....lol
I was singing that line as I clicked on the video lol
ARETHA FRANKLIN
@wendy brennan Oh yeah, that's right! But where I heard it was on the Commitments's CD, since I owned that one. I have some Motown complications too, and I did hear Aretha's version on one of them.
Can you react to Ken mellons learning to live with me. Its a tribute to George Jones
yup The Commitments ruclips.net/video/B-qrgrcQQWI/видео.html
Dan Penn wrote it.
It was one of Aretha’s first hits.
You need to binge listen to Dan
and Spooner Oldham’s
“Moments From This Theatre “ lp

Aretha Franklin sang this originally when I was in High School. Several people have also recorded it. You remembered the Commintments, I remembered Etta James.
Hey, don you really Need to react to some of Riley greens new music! you would really like behind the times
@Ryan Gates I'd love to do more new music, but it tends to get blocked a lot. Maybe RUclips and the copyright holders will collectively loosen things up as time marches further into the digital age, but many of the newer artists' songs I've reacted to were blocked.
