    Just the advice boys. I’m a jeweller. And almost everyone making the same mistake. When you melting gold dust or fine gold ; do not put fire directly onto the pot. Mix it 50%gold 25%borax 25% sodium carbonate. Raise the pot with pieces of stone or tile and leave underneath elevated. Hold the flame from the sides and under until it becomes red and gold sticks to the powder. Then heat it. When melted , hold the pot and try to spin the gold and catch all the gold inside the melted borax. Good luck.

    • @colonialcharlie8702
      @colonialcharlie8702 2 года назад +7

      Is there much added benefit? Or is that just "the way it's always been done?" Perhaps a cleaner look?
      Most small ewaste refiners use much less borax and don't set up like a charge for fire assays.
      Small amounts of sodium carbonate sprinkled before heat glues the powder into a nice compact clump with a just a little heat to sides. Then tiny bit of borax to lift after its beaded.
      Keeps cleaner crucibles for alot of small batches.

    • @hankaan7542
      @hankaan7542 2 года назад +12

      @@colonialcharlie8702 you are correct my friend. What I was trying to do is ; after so much work and cost , most people loose their fine gold in the melting process. Pressured gas flames force the gold out that you can’t see it with the naked eye. This is one of the method , I was trying to save small scale investors.

    • @colonialcharlie8702
      @colonialcharlie8702 2 года назад +5

      Ah yes, haha I have my "lesson crucible" with red spots all over it, where my first test burns' fines powder ended up. Luckily it blasted into a homeade chamber, and i could recover the majority from a peice of ceramic wool it got sprinkled into.
      (Chunk of the filter paper gave way and then let pressure blast through the powder)
      Now some sodium carbonate goes a long way.
      Thanks for advice

    Fascinating video, love to see gold being recovered from old electronic components. I have worked in the electronics industry for many years and have hoarded many boxes of old circuit boards and discreet components. Some of the earlier boards have gold plated circuit tracks all over and ceramic chips with gold plated pins and covers, normally the high end Hewlett Packard medical electronic tech. Some day I hope I can give this stuff to someone who would be interested in recovering the gold, love to know how much could be recovered.
