- In this video i decided to fully smelt cellphone PCBs to provide reliable yield data on these materials....
Since there is some gold embedded in the PCB (like in solder) it's not easily possible to be recovered chemically. That's why i decided to do the fire assay test and fully smelt the material followed by cupellation to get near 100% yield.

Thank you for being observant. Yes, I've tested it, and it's simply Fe3+ from iron sulfate.
How much silver was recovered you added 30 to the lead in the middle what was the yield after when you dropped it as silver chloride .

Good job but a couple of guys from western canada has a better way of extraxting gold and ither precious metals with minimal chemicals and labour and thier yeilds are huuuge, but anyhow from all the videos out there i have seen yours is so far the best and most honest i have seen ! At 8:20, maybe that green stuff was green pcb fiberglass, it'll crystallize up against molten lead, add the green stuff to water and mix it up it'll dissolve in water leaving metals floating , just noticed that it was a awful lot of lead for the amount of material, excellent video
That color was pretty odd and slag was hard like rock, hard to dissolve, yes 2.5 kg of lead was used for 2 kg of e waste high in copper content, probably stripping visible gold is the best option to start with this kind of materials

Hello picky plan i want ask you a question about gold recovery from pin and connector, i wash the pin using sodium hydroxide but the gold plated pin is not contain gold anymore, ended with black percipitate that no way it's the gold because gold is not disolve in naoh, then i was pick up the gold plated pin and submerge in nitric acid 90% conc 50ml diluted with 250ml water, but the solution is not turned green or blue and the pin is not disolve the solution colour is orange what's wrong with my reaction? I need advice please. Never wash again use sodium hydroxide take HCL instead.
Very concentrated sodium hydroxide could dissolve gold to make sodium aurate. From the pins some would dissolve some others would fall as black sludge.
If your pins doesn't react with 30% nitric acid (you diluted it too much) probably there is stainless steel or kovar on the pins . You can boil it in nitric acid and pill the gold foil off or you can use some CuCl2 solution and let it sit until dissolve all base metals
@@PickyPlans How to percipitate gold from sodium aurate also how to recover it from the black sludge, i was using stainless pan so the nitric acid would not melt the metal when i heat it since i does not have a beaker glass, but why you can't use the stainless steel to boil the gold foil?
Add zinc powder to recover from sodium aurate. Filter sludge with cotton then treat filter with aqua regia. You can use stainless steel to boil nitric acid but you can't use it for HCl

I think it was necessary to pre-wash all the organic ash, e.g. in the blue bowl, and then refine it. And the cupellation was probably not completed because the alloy was too large. I guess it was necessary to re-apply the cupellation remnants in fresh cement.
I intentionally didn't continue it because almost all the lead metal was consumed to continue cupellation more lead needed to be added...
My friend good works, i do this types reactions just for hobby,, there is no HNO3 for sale in Europe except 3% around 15€ per liter… in one word if any private person trying getting gold from electronic part’s than the chemicals cost which’s it used for processing will be 2 or even 3 times more expensive than amounts of gold ..
Only if can get the parts for free may possible to make profit:)

Hello i wan ask you a question, how much gold in 100 pcs od pentium 3 proccesor? I was watching other person video but they did not recovery the gold in the plastic chips, but just from the gold plated pin. Why they do that, is the plastic does not contain a gold? Do you have advice based on your experience?
There is average 0.006 g of gold per unit of Pentium 3 CPUs . The recovery rate would be a bit higher if you also process solder under the pins . Maybe 0.05 g in the solder from 100 pcs.
No there isn't any gold in the fibers.

For Pentium 2 there is gold under the heatsink but not much and not in every piece. You can expect 0.003-0.005 g per united of those.
Yes between 0.6-0.75 g.
There is no reason to use gold inside the fibers, copper would do the job. Also the result of smelting and aqua regia wasn't too far from each other.
Personally i prefer parts with BGA chips like graphic cards and ddr2/3 rams with thick gold plating on finger. If could be found at a good price of course
@@PickyPlans I can get 2kg DDR 1 RAM with the same amount of money that i spent on Pentium 3 Proccesor, if i just would recovery 0.6 gram of gold in all of the proccesor, that mean i just hit the BEP and not make any profit, or i just got small profit.

Hi man... Nice bead, might need some more refining, but gold is gold... to be honest, did not expect 1 g... Few things made my day: I open phones with screwdriver, but your hammer mill is way better... 😀 I add some lead... like 3 kg... 😀 I do not have so much phones, usually I just take chips, give the boards and all other into recycling bin for industrial recycling...

Muy largo el proceso ademas utilizas mucho acido, no se si sera rentable ese procedimiento para recuperar el oro, yo tengo un camino mas rápido, pero vale otro método por fusión para variar la experiencia.

I still doesn't understand.1,1gr from smelting 2 kg of various phone boards.The result seems too low.Smelting flux and cupel technique is the key to get better yield.
You won't get more than 0.4 gr per kg of chinese cellphone PCBs and 0.55gr from 1kg mix. Both smelting and cupellation were at the optimum condition.
@@PickyPlans A week ago I was processing 3,5 kilos of Chinese Cellphone boards. Only Chinese .Smelting,oxygen sparging and then electrowin to get pure Cooper and processing the slime.I got 1,9gr of gold.So I'm lucky?
@LimbahElektronikIndonesia It's totally proportional to the surface being the populated by ic chips. probably your PCBs had more than 3 ic chips per board. mine had 2 of them at the best, with some nokia boards which increased the yield a bit

In Indonesia we can get grade A chinese phone for Rp. 250.000 there is not much gold in it of course.
