On the phone I always introduce myself and ask how they are doing today. In the supermarket I will say morning or afternoon to people filling shelves. Cleaners in the mall I say morning and thank them for keeping the place clean. You don’t know what they are going through, and sometimes that’s all they need to make their day

I've been in a position when someone is talking on the phone while I am there for business. Trust me, I understand if it comes to your children and you politely tell me, "Excuse me, I am going to brief " I remember several years ago a landlady was on her phone during the whole time I was there not showing me the property. I also assumed it was a personal phone call. I lived somewhere else I figured if something needs to be fixed I will assume you won't make the time. Plus it is rude.
