It’s nice that you spend more time to review these racquets than everyone else who does short videos. As someone who uses the blade 98cv there were a few things I noticed about the v7 blade. It has a different beam shape, it’s rounder and the head shape looks a bit rounder too. Nobody has actually described the frame geometry but it is definitely different. I haven’t hit with the v7 but from all reports the 18/20 is “the one”. Excellent review thanks

You would think the stiffer frame and larger beam would give you more power especially with a 16x19 string pattern and 100 sq in head. The 98 18x20 head on the Blade with smaller beam and more flex requires more powerful strokes.
Comparing K-Blade vs 2013 vs 2015 vs v7. Which one shines in what category? I’d love to get some info from experienced blade users. I read loads of opposite opinions... Thanks in advance everyone!
After watching dozens and dozens of racket reviews I am more convinced than ever that any quality-made racket is capable of producing power, spin, and control. The key always returns to the skill level and mechanics of the player. We all would love to hit the ball like a Federer, Nadal, Djokovik or even the lowest rung pro on the circuit. Certainly, racket technology has improved, but does anyone really believe that Sampras' serve at his peak would be any more devastating with a current version of the Wilson Pro Staff than the one he used?
Agreed on the spirit of your comment. However, consider the importance of the racket in tennis compared to pther sports. The feel of the racket and the connection to the ball plays a sacred role in the experience of the game. I think what you are really getting at is the idea of diminishing returns when the equipment is fairly similar: RA, swing weight, head size, and string pattern. Theres no denying a pro would not be able to create the same shots with a thick, light, giant beginners racket versus a small, heavy, and flexible players racket. Ultimately, because all players fall somewhere in the middle of the beginner to pro spectrum, no manufacturer can automatically recommend your ideal configuration. You have to "discover " that for yourself through your own racket and string journey. It will take time and money but it can be rewarding even if your game doesn't improve (and i would wager it definitely would) finding that magic feeling racket makes the game more enjoyable. Its a journey. Its your journey. Enjoy it. Hell, savor it.

@capricornmagic63 when Agassi first tried poly strungs, ALU Power, he said he felt like he was cheating. He would go on to win multiple majors while most other pros were stuck on natural gut. Its similar to the moment in golf history where balata balls fell out of favor with newer technology. The feel of balata remained luxuruoys, but you would not remain competitive losibg the avg of 10 yards off your drive and fairway shots.
As much as I would love to be able to play with something more powerful like a Clash or Pure Drive, I just can’t do it for any length of time. It starts out great - awesome depth and spin. But eventually I lose all feel and can’t hit the broad side of a barn. I’m now back to my Dunlop CX 200 Tour 16x19. Nothing fancy. Good control. Slightly more power than my old TT95. If it ain’t broke...
Play with what gives you confidence. The power rackets are terrible for feel. The ball just wont respomd. Stick to your control models by dunlop, yonex, and prince.
Good review...thank you Jonas. By all accounts you seem very impressed with this update. 😎 I'm quite interested in that new vcore yonex not the 330 or 310 , but that new model in that line up. 18x20 not my go to, but I hear it's not overly tight. Either way it's not out here yet....we always have to wait. Seriously, the Dunlop vs tour 200 16x19 only just landed a few weeks ago. When it was first released I tried everybody out here only to be told Dunlop don't plan on bringing it into the country. There's likely a new model not far away and now they are trying to say it's a new release. Oh well...plenty of new and enticing sticks as it is. Keep on hitting. Cheers!!!
I have the vcore98 and hate the feel of it ( love every other aspect like power spin etc) .The RA is not high but feels stiff, doesnt let me feel the ball like my old K90. This could be a better option right ? Im thinking this blade, the prostaff 97 without CV(reviews says it has amazing feel and still powerful like vcore98) or the vcorepro 97 310g (last version is more dampened tho). Wanted a better connection to the ball without losing too much power/spin. Anyways, great review as always!!
Thanks. That is the million-dollar question right now. I think the touch and feel are the same. Both offer a great slice and stability on volleys. The Blade is a bit faster through the air due to the smaller head size but the Gravity offers a slightly bigger sweet spot. I don't really know which one I prefer to be honest.

Any recommended string and tension for this update? Was stringing HyperG full bed @ 50lbs with 2015 blade. Same combo on new blade feels less controlled for some reason. Thanks
I'd go up in tension or gauge or both. I always like to remind myself that Hyper G is used by tons of professionals as well as top juniors so imo if one can't use it effectively that's on them. Hey Iceman, that is the million dollar question right now. They both have tight string patterns, thin beams and great feel. The Blade is a bit faster, but the Gravity a bit more stable. I am playing them side by side right now to see which one I like best, but it is a tight race!
Hi Jonas, I just got a K Blade 98 for £30!! couldn't resist. It's my first Blade. How would you compare the K version to the 2015 or the new one Thanks!
Only thing with Wilson is you have to compare about 10-20 rackets to get one that is close to the specs listed as Wilson’s quality control is shocking.
Bought two brand new ultra tours with 8 gms difference between them. I had to get a balance board and research how to match frames just to feel at ease with my purchase. What a nightmare..
@@djblackwing737 Hmmmm....I don't find that acceptable at all. Sure you didn't purchase a perfectly matched pair, but that's way off and would be easily noticed on court without some treatment. I'd be inclined to try and exchange 1 of them. Guess that's too late now!
Got them matched already. but the effort I had to do for a pair of brand new sticks is quite a hassle. I’ll probably wont be buying any wilson frame in the near future.
@@djblackwing737 I'm not a Wilson fan, despite the fact they obviously make top frames. There's usually something in another brand that is similar. That said, Head aren't any better really....is only yonex imo and perhaps other smaller brands that have more rigid quality control. I think the way to go is to ask for matched pairs. Some stores it's a free service, others may charge a, premium fee for their time to match. I've not bothered in recent times. However, I do typically find I then have a favourite stick that gets used most. The other comes out less frequently. Usually when I haven't strung my preferred stick!!
The new version has nearly zero power. Need to make the the frame a little thicker, maybe 21x23x21 like the pure strike to compensate for the loss of power due to the lower stiffness without making it more head heavy
That's expected with a more advanced stick such as the blade, whereas the strike is a blend of easy power and control which makes it easier to transition to
The Blade is more controlled and offers a softer feel. The Beast is more spin-friendly and powerful. Top-spin shots are better with the Beast, slice and touch are better with the Blade.
Yeah, I got back into my old bad habits. With all the racquet testing, I find it a bit difficult to work on technique. But my aim is to make a significant improvement before the end of 2019.
Hey Tennisnerd I'm just curious how this version stacks up against the 2015 version if youve ever tried it? Considering the switch but I'm not entirely sure yet
Thanks! I doubt it, I have a few other racquets lined up and to be honest, the 16x19 version has a low launch angle and is controlled enough that I don't see much point in the 18x20 version. If I wanted a higher swingweight I would just add lead tape to this one.
It has a plusher feel and is easier to swing. The sweet spot is slightly bigger too. I am a big fan of the Six One 95 though, which is as solid as a rock!
Is it just me or does like most 16x19’s these days are really light and unstable ???? I have been gravitating towards 18x20 for the weight and stability
Thanks for the review Jonas as always it's much appreciated, though I must agree with others regarding your new reporting format. Just looking at your play, the more "point-and-shoot" nature of the 2015 Blade is very evident. I haven't yet demoed the 18x20 version but experience tells me that given the flex and pocketing of the new blade, perhaps a more dense pattern will much improve the launch angle, control and accuracy of the frame. Can we expect you to be demoing that in the near future? PS. Is the HD version only available in the US? PPS. I have demoed the Speed, Gravity and now the Blade and I'm yet to be convinced to switch from my Dunlop Srixon CX200 Plus, which you have yet to demo (hint, hint) !! ;))
Good point! I will take the feedback to heart and make adjustments. I find the pattern of the new Blade quite tight, with a lower launch angle than the predecessor so not sure the 18x20 will play much better. The Dunlop racquets are great - stick with those if you like them. Not sure about the HD Yonex in the US, they are tricky to get a hold of here as well :(
Q about your cx200+. im considering switching from my kBlade 98 to sthg more spin friendly. not sure if youve tried that stick but on paper its similar to the kBlade, just 16*19 and the extended length. might help out my 2hbh. thoughts?
@@paucceri The extended length will definitely help you with depth but it does take a bot of time getting used to. I was missing the sweet spot for a while so needs times but once you find it, it's a guilty pleasure. Other than that, you may find it a little stiffer than your kblade and if you're arm sensitive, you will feel the extra SW so watch out. It's average on spin so if you'll looking for more spin, you may need to switch to thinner strings at lower tension .... but IMHO, it's a great racquet and should get a lot more love.
@@a2casius thanks for the reply! had a bit of elbow problems so maybe i'll look for a standard 27inch in 16*19 and go hybrid from my full poly. and so i must wade into and navigate the most saturated racket market segment...

Hi Mr Tennisnerd. I've recently taken up tennis and have very quickly started playing competitively and at a high standard. I'm in the A team in a competitive county league and I feel I need a decent racket (I'm using an old Mantis Pro 295 that someone lent me - which is nice actually). My grip is eastern and people say I hit like Del Potro, I hit very flat with a lot of power. I was wondering if you could recommend a racket or type of racket for me (ideally a Head racket as one of my team colleagues gets a Head discount. But not vital). Thanks
Hi Major Tom, welcome to our beautiful sport. I think you should check out the new HEAD Gravity Pro. That is an excellent racquet for flat hitters and you will get plow-through, control and power. It will be a bit heavier than what you currently use though. Another nice racquet from HEAD is the new HEAD Graphene 360 Speed Pro, which has a controlled string pattern for flatter hitting and is quite easy to use. Good luck!

Constructive criticism from a nobody: Too much time with you just playing tennis. Part from 3.30 to 16.15 should be cut out in my opinion, maybe like a minute or two of that and then the next part when you compare the rackets and talking more. I like both, but the Blade suits my game a bit better.
16x19 or 18x20?
I demoed both, and in the end I went with the 18x20 because it felt better. It's very subjective though.
@@penciltwirler5829 Okay. Thanks!
You need to try both .
@@penciltwirler5829 I bought the 18x20. But I don't like because the SW is so high. So, I'll to try the 16x19.
That tennis pro you hit with in the past tried to coach you on shortening your backswing and looks like you’re still doing way to much backswing.
Hey, the 2015 is a bit stiffer and more powerful - the V7 is plusher and a bit more controlled
You need to test the blade 98s with spin effect v7... use black code 4s at 23kilos and you will never test another racquet 😁
Thanks for the review!! Will you also review the v7 18x20?
Thanks! I doubt it, I have a few other racquets lined up and to be honest, the 16x19 version has a low launch angle and is controlled enough that I don't see much point in the 18x20 version. If I wanted a higher swingweight I would just add lead tape to this one.
do you prefer the 16x19 version or the 18x20
16x19 - they are both controlled enough
Can you review BLADE SW 104 ?
How does it compare to the mighty old Six.One 95's ?!?! Imo the best racquet line they ever made... ;)
It has a plusher feel and is easier to swing. The sweet spot is slightly bigger too. I am a big fan of the Six One 95 though, which is as solid as a rock!
@@Tennisnerd Sounds interesting, but do you think they'll ever bring back the Six.One series?
Is it just me or does like most 16x19’s these days are really light and unstable ???? I have been gravitating towards 18x20 for the weight and stability
The Yonex Vcore Pro 97 is better!
I have yet to find out! :)
@@paucceri If you haven't already, demo Clash 98. The softer hoop will help your elbow. Be careful, if you use lead tape. The hoop is so soft, the tape will fly off !! :)) All the best.
Good luck!
@@Tennisnerd Thanks for the great advice. I think I'm going to go for the Gravity Pro. To be honest it was either going to be that or the K7 Lime. Keep up with the videos. I like your style and your content is highly informative. Thanks again
@tennisnerd, do you know by any chance the unstrung SW of 18x20 Blade, or at least what is it on paper? Thank you
Hellow tennis nerd there is a new blade v8 . Do a video about it please
Constructive criticism from a nobody: Too much time with you just playing tennis. Part from 3.30 to 16.15 should be cut out in my opinion, maybe like a minute or two of that and then the next part when you compare the rackets and talking more.
Personally, i like your other reviews more when you talk and show some playing at the same time. That is enjoyable, this isnt near that. This video could easily be 8-9 minutes.
Thanks for the info as usual however :)
for a person that hates the video, you certainly spent a lot of time writing that comment. No need to be rude mate
You are a fucking idiot. Don’t watch then. I’m looking at purchasing these sticks so I found the review fantastic and informative
@@xdiputsm Hates the video? No. Somehow im at 17 likes so..
@@JD-767 Thanks for telling me im an idiot. Somehow 17 people at the moment agrees with me who has liked. I just said a constructive comment with some critic. Nothing else.
@@CoDINmyHEART This isn't a hate comment, this is merely a comment meant as feedback/constructive criticism on the video but apparently these two moron's two brain cells can't comprehend that.
Which are the tennis balls you practice with ?
This is a different question from the topic I just came across a Wilson Racquet name Wilson Monfils Pro 100 tour. But cannot find any reviews or feedback on this. Is this a genuine Wilson Racquet? Is this a Wilson Ultra range? Can you give more details or maybe make a review if can.
I found this Wilson blade v7 16x19 to be really really light did not like the weight
Stick a leather grip on, that adds 10 grams for a start.
@@transamination that will barely do anything , what is your thoughts on the blade v7 16x19 ?
@@cp_703 10g is more than you think when you're swinging it. Obviously you could add lead to the head also. I've not played with the blade.
4 min review and 25 min of you hitting?
I am experimenting a bit with the format, I will take all your feedback into consideration for my next video.
Seriously, I don’t know about the mustache… It’s either kaiser Willhelm’s staff or Trotsky- neither worth emulating...
adjust the sound next videos. We dont want to hear the wind and cars. Thanks.
And roosters too!
Yeah, the court I have been playing on these last few months has a lot of noise around it. I will record the voice-over in the office and try to play more tennis in less noisy courts.
Wilson blade the most Wilson has spent on marketing
I think clash was much more marketed.
What farm animals? .....oh
This racket is way too flexible , was very disappointed with this from Wilson
CV is better
Both of you need a serving lesson. Your rhythm isn't continuous.
