Control for me, but there were times I didn't have enough power from some racquets although now that I think about it my game and age most likely the problem not the racquet
I have both 18x20 and just recently got the 16x19. Had to make some adjustments in tension for 16x19 but now I’m liking it more than my 18x20. My 18x20 I have strung with volkl Cyclone 17g at 48lbs and 16x19 I’ve settled on same string and gauge at 52lbs. Definitely get easier power and have to work less with the 16x19, but when I use the 18x20 I can tell it has more control and precision, and lower launch angle. I can use both rackets very well, but my current favorite is the 16x19
Maybe it's down to Quality Control, but a Contol Score of 7, and a Power Score of 8 surprises me. Personally, I'd give it a 9 in terms of control, and 7 in terms of power
Thanks Ryan! I kinda add the comfort as a segment of feel looking back you’re right I would have 100% added it as another category. I’ll take some time this summer to go back and add the comfort for the old reviews and start doing it for the new ones.
Last but not least, everybody can buy now a Wilson Blade 98 Pro, which is a H22 version of the Blade for the "ordinary user" (with the nice glossy paint job)!!! Both string patterns are available.
@@MikeKomen Really? I would consider the 18x20 the more aggressive pattern because of the flatter shots you automatically produce. Lower the string tension by about 1 or 2 kg to your preferred specs (compared to the 16x19) and you've got wonderful plow through and more control!
Hi. I Saw your vids and notes for the diff racquets you tested but I would need more details about how you would compare this v7 16/19 with the vcore 98 2021 ? Thx a lot and again : good job !
Hi Steph, thanks for the question! I would say they are both great for control but you get a bit more power from the vcore because of the swing speed but the blade gives a more predictable ball.
@@MikeKomen thx Mike, really helpfull. Just another detail : Would you say the amount of spin is really higher with the vcore 98 that it drops very quicker ? Or So higher that the launch angle makes it fly to "infinity and beyond" ? Or that it s pretty the same ?
The vcore does have more spin but it’s not launching like crazy. Really nice if you have a lot of top spin and arc to your shot. I preferred the blade on flatter shots.
@@MikeKomen ok. Thx, so I definitively have to try it to compare to my blade. I string it with tecnifibre 4s to increase spin, so maybe Vcore 98 with a round string will spin the same... Have to figure it out. 🤘😊
I agree that the feel is the best attribute for the Blade v7 98 16 x 19. However, I did find the control a bit erratic at times and difficult to generate topspin. The sweetspot is a bit on the small side IMO. I have switched to the Prince Phantom 100p which is a more forgiving racquet with a better balance of control and power IMO.
Do you prioritize power or control?
Control for me, but there were times I didn't have enough power from some racquets although now that I think about it my game and age most likely the problem not the racquet

Ajax public courts. This blade doesn't have the countervail.

Good review! Comfort, probably deserves a category listing on your chart 🍻

Great review Mike!
Great video thanks for all you do!!!
Thanks Nathan!
A comparison of the 18x20 Blade and the 16x19 would be very interesting! You played both, what do you prefer?
With the way I’m playing now, trying to be more aggressive, I prefer the 16x19

Interesting that if you remove the Styling and Cool columns and just focus on court performance the 93P is the winner
Please do a review on Blade 104 V7. Super underrated!
Another to add to the growing list haha thanks for the suggestion Abarth!
Would you recommend this over the pure strike 16/19 for a 17 year old base liner
I need to know a bit more about your play style and what you’re looking for in a racquet. Send me a message on Instagram, I’ll be happy to help!
You should do Tecnifibre TF40 305. I think it would be a frame you’d enjoy.

Let me know how it goes!
Would you reccomend this version over the previous v6? Especially since the v6 can be found for almost 100$ less now?
I liked this one a bit better, found I was able to get better feel from it. Hope that helps Trevor!
I found my slice backhand not really good on this racquet. Heard it's way better on the 18x20 v7, could you confirm that please ?
That’s what I found too when testing.
Time for some extended racquet tests... SW102 OR ezone 100 or 98 plus
Will do!
Can an intermediate tennis player at level 3.5 or 4.0 (NTRP) play with this racket?
Yes but I would recommend a 100 sq in racquet to have a little more margin for error on the string bed
How would this compare to the clash 98?
I prefer this to the clash. Clash you get easier power but you lose a lot of control and feel that you get with the blade.
What racket do you use?
Yonex Vcore 95
Great reviews
This or ultra 100 v3? Surprisingly you gave it similar scores in all important categories
I’d go blade over ultra. Thanks for watching Dani!
Does Stefanos not play the 18x20 string pattern?!
You’re right he’s using the 18x20 but it’s believed to be a blx mold
Still waiting on the Blade 104 V7 review:)
A bit backlogged on reviews 😅 it’s on the list for next year! Thanks for watching!
wilson ultra v3 or wilson blade 98l
Blade 98 imo! If you like lots of power you’d like ultra better!
Can I request for the Head Gravity Pro please . :)
Sure thing! I’ll add it to my list of upcoming reviews. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the insight Ken!
String it 2lbs less on the crosses for great control and top spin.
@@ginomarone8831 I agree that the Blade plays better with a lower tension on the crosses.
how to split video
It’s the worst version of the blade… super muted, no feel…
Really? Check out tennispoint if they ship internationally, the‘ve got v5s in both 18 and 16.
Thanks for the input Mikey!
@Ike Exeter most people dislike the countervail racquets
@@MikeKomen yeah bro! Keep killing the videos!!! Yonex Ezone Tour Racquet of the year!
