- It appears that Universal Studios Hollywood will be getting a brand new, Fast and Furious themed, roller coaster for 2025. This Intamin coaster will feature a wide range of elements, and use the terrain. It looks like an awesome attraction.
Universal went through this weird phase 2012>2019 where they put in very mediocre rides. But now they are building some of the best in the world.

Hagrids opened in 2019 though and its awesome.
It needs more theming. Velocicoaster and Hagrids is great partly due to its theming, because any parks can build a coaster but the theming sets it apart.
No it doesn't. We don't need a bunch of tacky nonsense on such a beautiful hillside. All we need is a bunch of beautiful landscaping, a nicely themed station, trains that look like sports cars, and a killer lighting package.
I think the rumored car themed coaster cars will make up for a lack of theming. The themjng can be entirely in the queue with minimal on the ride itself similar to velocicoaster.

the render/animation doesnt have the theming. They could still build theming on site, might not tho, cuz its on a weird slope.

Im very excited for this ride. Ive recently rode velocicoaster and while this layout is very different, it still looks just as insane as velocicoaster is. Cuz OMG the velocicoaster is relentless!

If universal was building another simulater ride people would be complaining it should've been a Rollercoaster. Now that they are building a Rollercoaster, they're now complaining there's not enough theming. Guess there's no pleasing some people no matter what 🙄

Thanks for an insightful video! I'm not a roller coaster fan, and I used to work at Universal Studios. Logistically, it's hard for them to figure out where a coaster would go, since its got the two parts--if you have never been there, there's a big difference between the upper and the lower lot. And like Disneyland, they don't have a lot of land to work with, unless they get rid of other things. I heard in another video that Universal got rid of (or are the process of tearing down) two of their show stages to build this coaster, but I guess you gotta go with what people want.
I can't wait for this coaster, is going to be one of the best coasters in California and hopefully thatll push Magic Mountain and Knott's Berry Farm to bring out some great coasters also. But back to Universal Studios I know they're going to come out with a good coaster

Something I didn't notice in the simulation is where will they have the ride spray water on you? I'm pretty sure that's a requirement for every Universal ride...
I think they should have designed a dueling ride in order to better theme it to FnF since the movie has a lot of races. The could have so many cars from all their franchises paired up to race against each other. And if they could add random winner at the end to further make it unpredictable. But that aside, the ride looks intense and makes use of the limited space they have it. This also seems like a very long ride.

@@stevejewett3610 I don't think that's a big issue--theme parks often have similar rides, but it just comes down to theming. WCR is a generic racer while Universal could have a FnF themed one. They could also incorporate some sort of dark ride story as well if they want to make it fancy.
this is pretty unexpected for Universal Hollywood. Personally, I cannot physically handle a coaster like this (I don't like the stomach drop feeling you get), but I'm happy for the people who want more intense rides. I'm sure the views of the coaster are going to be amazing, so I'll happily watch it go by from the side lines

On everything you should love these rides then … launch rides don’t give you that feeling because it’s so fast. By time the drop happens you’re done. the hulk and velocicoaster don’t give you that feeling at all. Just sit closer to the front

I wouldn’t be surprised to see tunnels on some of the track similar to Incredicoaster at DCA to block sound from reaching the studios.

i mean considering that most of the rides in universal yesterday was around 140 - 190mins ill say this would def hit the same numbers or prob more

It’s about time USH gets a decent coaster.

So, the reason they wouldn't put in a big coaster, was because they are an active filming studio, and they didn't want a towering structure in the background because they film in the backlot almost every week all year round. That, and the noise of a big roller coaster was too much noise for filming even though they had insulated Studios for acoustics, noise still gets through and there's no way to shield the noise out on the backlot. Last month, they had a special team there testing the acoustic reverb from different points of where they wanted the new coaster so they know what to do at what areas to cancel out the noise. They started this testing in April. If you went to Universal Studios Hollywood in April you could hear temporary speakers playing sounds of a roller coaster with screaming people. Guests walking around had funny looks, they didn't know what to make of it, and the staff knows about it but they've been trained really well not to reveal secrets of the park.

The number 1 reason is the HOA above the park. The have agreement on height and sound. No roller coaster with a vote. The 1 b is the noise as you said

I love 15 minutes to from the park, friend works front gate. This will be a DEFINITELY Needed ride at the park. Given it's a working studio, you do need quiet attractions. Jurraisic park is... Meh... Sigh this coaster will be a winner. I love the ride graphics too! Watched it several times LOL

I don’t think it’s ever going to happen. You got a think of the soundstages and people screaming.
Thats why they tested noise pollution,
so if its themed to fast and the furious will it be considered a family coaster :)
Im still reallly sad that they took off the animal show every time I watched the show it made me super eager to become a vet now its gone :(
As someone who has been on an intamin stall before, they are so whippy and good. Joker also has a great stall.
An outdoor coaster at USH seems out of place. It replaces 2 large show buildings and "people eaters" are sorely needed at the park nowadays. By dropping the shows, the already limited time park (you can do the whole park in 3 hours on a slow day) it needs more rides and attractions to make it an all-day park. The footprint of this park just isn't conducive to being a theme park BUT they're doing more with it than I ever could have expected. That said, will I be riding this coaster...HELL YEAH!
iirc those show buildings are rarely used... if its true, it's definitely a better use of space! intamin coasters can have some really good capacity that would help this park out a lot!

This ride would be a ride operators worst nightmare. The amount of ppl trying to sneak their stuff on will be so much … I hope no guests go crazy over phones
Hopefully they have lockers halfway thru the queue like Velocicoaster, that would eliminate that issue

Amusement Insiders got pretty close with their recreation, but I honestly think that first corkscrew is going to be non-inverting. I also think the dive drop is going to be a lot larger, and the final boost is going to be a full on launch. Currently working on my own version of this right now.
I'm really hoping the "dive drop" will end up being more like a top hat
Not only does this park need it desparately, California in general needs this ride desparately.
At this point, the best overall coaster park in California is Knotts. Some would say Magic Mountain, but after having spent most of last year going to Discovery Kingdom with all its ride shut downs, understaffed, ugly, etc., I don't trust Six Flags anymore. Regardless, it will be nice to finally have a good Intamin launch coaster in California that isn't just a Top Thrill Dragster clone and is more akin to Maverick.
That don't make it the better coaster park when it has like a quarter of the number of coasters and trust me I hate six flags too
@@mat42011 Nah man, I'm older now and I appreciate the whole theme park experience much more than when I was in my 20s. I like a clean, well landscaped park with sufficient staffing, rides working with multiple cars running, etc. I can't do ghetto parks anymore just because they have coasters.

I agree. I drive 45 minutes more to do Knott’s. Great park. Love SFMM coasters but the park/staff/food/ops suck
I feel they should have made another in door rollercoaster so they can theme it up nicely, outdoor coasters rarely get theming and you'll get more chance for bugs and bird to hit your face. :(
I think that last thing brings up a valid point for theming. If they do a lot of landscaping, not only would it be ridiculous to maintain but it would also attract tons of bugs in the spring and summer.
I hope this is true. That park is a tourist trap/snooze fest. It’s so tiny you literally can do the entire park in half a trip. Take for example Disney/California adventure - it’s like 7-8 times bigger.

In my humble opinion they should revive and get Togo to build this. They are a lot more reliable than intamin anyways.
Togos last coaster literally was the worst coaster in Las Vegas. And that’s saying something (that had to be repaired and replaced by premier of all people). They were a dying copy of a dying company. Let them stay in the grave

Looks like a pretty mediocre theme park attraction. Velocicoaster was supposed to have an actual show scene and they cheapened out on it and we got a pretty bare bones coaster witch static dinos. Universal needs another great immersive ride, a new version Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit weaving around.

I think there was safety concerns with animatronic Dinos on ride because you’re inches away from them. Also, Velocicoaster was like 85 million dollars so how did they “cheap out”?

This is an awful idea and universal studios Hollywood should have movie family movie rides and stop trying to be a magic mountain or Knott's Berry farm. This takes up way too much space that can be used for multiple attractions and not one roller coaster at the park really does not need. Universal really needs to think about this again before making a terrible mistake.
You cannot put anything on that hill, only a roller coaster. They’ve added many movie family attractions the past years, secret life of pets, and Mario kart. It’s time for a rollercoaster.
