All of the design elements mentioned in this video are not new to either 890J or Avalon. They are modern design language often used in furniture and interior design. You are looking for causation in correlation.
What's more likely is that both 890 Jump desingers and Avalon designers took inspiration from other modern/futuristic designs and applied them to each fo their projects repectively.

The concept for the 890j was revealed in 2014, the movie passengers was out in 2016. If they did copy, CIG had insiders at the movies. Considering the concept was shown in 2014, how long before that was a ship concept artist going through the trouble of having it approved by big daddy Chris?

The 890j was announced in 2014 and the movie came out in 2016. It didn't come out to the verse till 2019 though, so it's possible the developers took a lot of inspiration from the movie and pay homage to the movie with the ship's design. They've done this with a lot of ships already. Just look at the most recent Cutter. It's a nod to the Eagle 5 on Spaceballs.

I feel like we already know what will happen to the water in 23.3 since there are no water body physics in the game.
Also in the movie when Jennifer Lawrence is in the bubble of water, unless physics stops operating she would be able to swim easily to the edge since she is submerged in water, a medium through which she can propel herself using her limbs. That's not an effect of gravity, it's an effect of the physics of her hands/feet pushing against the water and relativity. That movie was pretty dumb.

Since inventions can happen at the same time without theft or plagiarism. Joseph Swan and Thomas Edison both inventing the lightbulb, Charles Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace both postulating evolution, Isaac Newton, Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz formulating calculus concurrently as a tiny fraction of examples.
It is *imminently* possible that both a movie designer and a game designer are both inspired by, and attempting to illustrate the same kinds of luxury as the highest end yachts of our time would use very similar design languages.
They come from the same DNA... of course they resemble each other. Would be odd if they didn't, not odd that they do.

You may not realize this, but CIG has taken ideas for ships and items from MANY MANY SCI FI shows and movies.. Pisces is a Star Trek original Shuttle design for example. P4 is an MP weapon style, Custodian the P-90, the two bladed knife (can't remember name off top) is actually a direct copy of a real life knife.. even the color.. I know because I own one of them in real life ( I did find it odd for this one that it is identical in the design of the real life knife - the only thing I have seen that is). Many other ships have clear roots in sci fi.. Reclaimer reminds you of the Aliens movie, Valkyrie as well for the dropship. There are many more but it is not just CIG that takes material of others and uses them for designs with a twist. Obviously 1 to 1 copy they don't do (except for that knife) but you can clearly see the influence of many designs of objects, ships and ground vehicles in CIG designs from other genres.

I mean if ya wanna be technical ever since the kelvin timeline kirk movies in star trek people have been copying that white sci-fi ship design most star trek shows since those movies also carry the same medbay design arguably you could even say star trek voyager in the 90's had that same kind of luck all with subtle variations, while there are similarities it's likely they're both a love letter to star trek ship designs the enterpise, strange new worlds and discovery also share that style in their medbays and the 890's medbay is closer to those designs than this movie is it sure it's more of a paint over with a more metallic feel perhaps even enders game tech look to it or even halo but I wouldn't put directly into copying eachother theres too many difference the only thing I would argue is the corridors but it's derivative at best
but go back far enough and theres an argument to be made with any artistic design that nothing today is original just Frankenstein together with bits and pieces of other IP's, when I played valheim I argued with myself was it original it was fresh in a combination of things i'd seen before combined to make a new gaming experience but with elements of darksouls, minecraft heck even fortnite they were only small things in the way the mechanics worked and then I had to ask myself...
did it matter and the answer is no, anything you can make by hand is far more original and more derivative at best than copycatting unlike the 12000th to the power of 20 encounting PromptGeneratedImages I see on the internet everyday that makes it feel lifeless with human art it's different you can argue over it's originality but with PGI art unless the person knows their prompt it's easy to tell if a human made it or not the signs are often obvious and easily recognisable from it's flaws to faces you've seen a million times to the point your getting fed up of seeing them and wish there was a filter on some sites so you could just see the real hand digtal artist works!
i'm no artist not gone back to it in a long time i've always been a gamer first unlike my sibling, but heck even i'm getting kinda fedup hearing ai this and that it's not even ai it's just an algorythm all programming no thought or self awareness we aint in terminator or i-robot yet just the few experimental edge cases or heck those could be programmed to fool the masses too everyones got this morecambe fascination with machines rising up and trying to end us!
that aside my point stands as simple as this wtf even is originality even those we believe to be an original of something take inspiration from others i've no doubt in my mind theres some 1800's science fixing book with a description of a ship strikingly similar sounding to the 890 jumps rooms or star treks and even the Avalon's somewhere and an attempt to call it stealing feels clickbait at best!
kids in the 2010's were using terms like memes it wasn't called that originally but theres references to actual memes dating back to 1800's they just didn't call em memes heck for all we know Egyptian hieroglyphs themselves might have some of their culture's memes mixed in, is our modern use of gifs and memes not to dissimilar from glyphs, someone made a rock and buried it planning to leave memes etched on stone to be unearthed 10000 yrs from now (till the public and government decided to get rid of it cause they didn't want people of the future misinterpreting our history and muddying future archaeological findings long after this age is gone)
just so ya know I know i'm coming off as pissy i'm not, i'm just bad at wording things so it ends up coming off as a rant i'm just rambling
but yeah I think it is just typical sci-fi design more importantly it's 21st century futuristic you go back to 70's & before no touch screens buttons everywhere just like the old doctor who stuff and earlier they used buttons the 90's was kinda high contrast black on red, with a carpet on the bridge
so theres 50's sci-fi aesthetic then 60's sci-fi, 70's, 80's and then 90's and now 2000's and 2010's today is sort of mixture of everything since the 80's for sci-fi design this era has been a melting pot with no fresh designs on a sci-fi ships that i've seen in the past 4yrs of the 2020's if you can think of one lemme know alot of the 890 jump actually makes me think of tron
the Cyclone makes me think of the Halo Warthog and the Ranger TR reminds me of Chistopher Nolan's Batcycle the Ursa looks like NASA's mars rover design the reclaimer is some weird mix of the Serenity & the ship from Alien but with it's own creative liberty when I say looks like I mean at first glance but theres always their own reiteration of the original design the Avenger's original ship design in 2.8 looks more like the horizontal takeoff shuttle nasa uses because of it's plating and color choices it's since been redesigned and looks more futuristic with less riveting but looking closer to the early United Earth Federation vessel from the title intro to the 2000's enterprise series!
The scorpius straight up looks like an x-wing with a darker more realistic modern approach while the the liberator looks similar to some of the republic ships from the clone wars series!
there will be variation even if the person has the memory in the back of their mind they might pictur a design and draw from that image not realising it's something they've seen before because they forgot
it's wholistically possible the ones who made the 890 had seen the avalon but had simply forgotten they'd seen it and when going for the art style it was just simply coincidence slightly guided by vague memory, also just as likely it was intentional and they did copy... but the fact is it's different enough that you couldn't call it stealing because copyright wouldn't see it that way!
the way works are in the IP and copyright protection act is, is it close enough to the source material to call it a copy and the answer is no, so I would ask yourself rather than whats similar about the ship perhaps try to list what is differences where do the similarities end and diverge into the artists own little flair!
