OUTRO MUSIC: “Last Stop” by Karl Casey @ White Bat Audio
"My show is so bad quality that thousands of people took the time out of their day to sign in to Rotten Tomatoes and downvote it" isn't the flex Lesley thinks it is.
It is so bad that I wouldn’t even waste time downvoting it.
Ahhhhhh so true. Reviewbombing doesnt exist at all
Am one of those people that were considering registering after a few minutes of TLJ but as there was Rogue One, it stayed latent... And I checked out for years.
The Acolyte woke me up to put a "enough is already too much" on Rotten.
The Last Jedi was already a sh*tstain in Lucasfilm pants... But rather than trying to wash them, they went full diarrhea.
Before the Acolyte, there was still a chance for the Galaxy to be huge and rich again within less than a decade. Now... Not even a new buyer would guarantee that.
They even made the Nightsisters lame (and don't get me started on what is spice in Star Wars, no wonder the girls wanted some). Even if they were poorer in Clone Wars than in SWG lorewise, they were still exotic even by Sith Alchemy standards. But with the Breendwhatever splinter group...
Am not even sure the Blackwing virus would raise interest now.
The Acolyte is the Dunning Krugerest thing I've seen so far... And I hosted nights of The Asylum productions viewing for years.
Same as what Rami said. I have better things to do with my day than downvote or write a review about the show. Because, reviewing the show would require me to watch it and I definitely have better things to do than watch that dumpster fire just so I can write a review about it.
it feels like this is some sort of money laundering scheme with how impossibly bad it is. how else could it be made
"Review bombing" is pure marketing damage control, the audience are free to voice their displeasure for any reason they want.
No it's gas lighting
Well, it is a real thing, people who go give 1-star reviews because, I dunno, they don't like that the lead actor voted for so-and-so. But love bombing is also a real thing, people who give 10 stars because the lead actor is their favoritest person ever. So ultimately, it's impact is fairly irrelevant and should largely even out.
I never submit ratings on shows. After the complaints of "review bombing" I made sure to create an account just to rate this show.
If it wasn’t for review bombing, Valve would never get their butts up and fix Team Fortress 2.
@@stellviahohenheim No it's not.
Funny how any Disney shit that gets bad reviews is bombed. Never flops, never "is bad" just review bombs.
Too big to fail!..?
A large pirtion of the economy relies on this entity, so it CAN'T BE BAD! We NEED it to be GOOD!
1. Make shit
2. People hate shit, are vocal
3. Refuse to admit it is shit, blame people
Repeat
It is because there are enough people on twitter making them think there is still an audience to be won with DEI.
Funny and sad how they think their shit never stinks. "It's disney they can't make mistakes" said by no one...
The same people who actually believe the audience scores are "manipulated" also believe the multi *billion* dollar corporation isn’t buying the critic score...
Even after it’s been publicized that you can buy a positive review for as low as $50...
Acolyte episode 7 taught us that a lightsaber that failed to kill human in a singular piece of meat form in so many occasions, somehow managed to kill a witch in her disembodied shadow mist form.
Bigotry against out mist-kin.
Like, yea. Light kills shadow. Obviously. Worst a human can get from light is sunburn, so it makes sense all these people getting stabbed or cut up by superhot light can just walk it off like it's nothing even if it goes through vital organs.
@@jamiearmstrong3487 lol was the first person to die in this show black?
@@jackh7977nono, there was that white homeless lookin Jedi in episode 2 or something
And the Wookike but no one talks about him lol
I go to the "Star Wars" steakhouse and order a filet. It tastes like putrid garbage, I say to the manager. He replies, "It's YOUR fault for not liking putrid garbage! We all LOVE putrid garbage here in the restaurant!" 🙄
Hey! Stop complaint-bombing our manager, you toxic customer! 😠
That's strange, that Andor show isn't getting review bombed. 🤔
Remember that all the Star Wars sequels audience scores should be 20-30% lower. Thats when "review bombing" first came into existence and RT was deleting thousands of 0, 1, and 2 star reviews
Unfortunately for Disney, the review bombers still use Y-wings.
The shills are using those slow useless Rian Johnson ww2 inspired bomber
It's funny how positive review bombing doesn't exist.......
I call it "review boosting"
@@falxblade1352 That can't possibly exist, as no reviewer would sell their integrity & soul for a paltry $50.......
except Trungo's, but that's because the grumbo is just that good
@@FourOf92000 Has to be the Trungo's chickpea grumbo, though. Accept no alternatives.
@@councilofkarens729 indeed
I can never have sympathy for these millionaire show runners whining about “review bombing.”
Especially when it's completely justified or not even actually happening
29:18 Common tactic:
They’re basically telling all the people who love (brand) to support every product with (brand name) slapped onto it, unless they want to be at fault when (brand) dies.
If (brand) fails it’s because they didn’t support it enough. Because they didn’t truly love it, not because the people who own it ran it into the ground.
There are people who actually believe this sort of blame shifting...
I'm not falling for that anymore, especially since RE and DMC actually got better when called out and worse when praised.
@@Lampoluke I assume RE is Resident Evil, but what does DMC stand for?
@@sandwich4763Devil May Cry
Megalomaniacal sociopaths with psychopathic tendencies.
@@sandwich4763 dont listen to them, they're trying to mislead you... its Run DMC.. people didnt like the aerosmith collab and then they came back with the banger Christmas Time in Hollis Queens.. and RE is actually Red Earth.. people hated the characters except the witch and t-rex so thats who game back in other stuff.. jeez.. internet people, right?
"It's only very recently that the criticism has reached fever pitch'
Oh yeah? Well it's "only very recently that Starwars became utter shite
While I agree with your sentiment, fam, I think it's been garbo for a while now... since the sequel trilogy, tbh.
Before Ghostbusters 2016, doubling down on bad media in response to unfavourable customer reviews would have been unthinkable for a 'tentpole' franchise. That was 8 years ago
By the logic of the wrighter, both Bad Batch and Clone Wars should have been review-bombed because they both had Female main characters in the form of the clone girl and Ahsoka (as a kid or adult). But they weren't because they were, at worst, decently written characters in decently written shows (not great but decent). Vs what she wrote which is a pile of shit show, with a shit female lead on top.
Early Ashoka was a poorly written Mary Sue, it's literally a precedent
@@Lampoluke I don't disagree. She was a Mary. she was also annoying AF. Even still she wasn't enough to trigger a "review bomb". Which tells a lot about how bad the current female character are.
Ashoka did have one heck of a character development arch though as in late clone wars her character was pretty good. Just to be ruined again in modern age.
@@scrawnyclownsnatch9656 Pretty much everything I hated about her was written by Filoni, so I am not surprised the show sucked. On another note her character developement in CW may be the best one in all SW.
@@Lampoluke to be fair anakin was the same way it was the character growth or decline that was important with ahosoka and Anakin.
@@housewilma4904 yes, even as a kid Anakin taking out a whole space station felt forced, winning a race against adults from several different species with greater reflexes than humans was enough.
Screenrant prints the wildest crap, and its all the same note over and over and over, try and find anything from them that doesnt have some kind of racial, gender angle.. its ridiculous
I only read an article from them earlier, all the comments I saw scrolling down were calling them out on their bullshit and it was refreshing to see.
Disparu is so incredibly based, he knows a lot about the tactics and beliefs of the media and entertainment class
I fuckin hate it so much that review bombing ever became a term. Ive never seen a legit case of actual review bombing. They just label anything review bombing thats a large amount of people disliking something thats bad
Nono, it's a thing sometimes. Rarely. I've seen only one confirmed case, it was Hogwarts Legacy game. Hundreds of bot and non-player reviews with zeros. Didn't help the bombers much, but as a fact - it did happen.
It’s a little more specific, the term is dragged out whenever they need to run interference and protect something approved of by the activist crowd. The acolyte is diverse and virtue signals for a certain ideology, as such it is good by default and must be protected at all costs. Any criticisms are just from ideological enemies in the culture war and must be stopped.
The only legit case of review bombing I know was for the game Devotion to the point it was banned from Steam because it had an Easter Egg mocking the chinese president. This case made a bit of noise so I wouldn't be surprised if Hollywood use this excuse by taking it as an example
Not defending the acolyte, but knowing that it was given bad reviews before people could even watch it and before certain episodes released, while also taking in account the sheer number of reviews the show has (much more than any other starwars disney show) there was definitely an effort to facetiously tank its rating. Also people started leaving one star reviews on a movie called acolyte that was a completely separate ip lol showing they just mindlessly flocked to leave bad reviews. The acolyte is a trainwreck, but lets not pretend many people were hoping for its downfall before even giving it a chance. To say otherwise is quite disingenuous
@@ShouSenpai "this marketing already makes it look garbage, bad review" isn't facetious
review bombing is when you get butthurt that a bunch of people don't like your show
"From my point of view the Jedi are evil."
"WELL THEN YOU ARE LOST!"
Well, to be fair to Leslie: people in the star wars fan base DO know what review bombing is. Mostly because people like her have been accusing us of same for a decade.
Somebody needs to ask her what her favorite memory of Weinstein is.
Review bombing is people negatively reviewing your product because they hate something about it. Which is how reviewing works.
Even Grace had enough after this weeks episode, you know it's bad when she won't shill for it anymore 😂
"I want everything about the Acolyte off the internet NOW NOW NOW NOW NOWWW!!
Curse the Sith, peace to everyone else."
23:10 Funny that they liken the displeasure fans feel to the dark side corruption when its more in line with the rebels going against the empire.
I think folk need to realize it for what it is and treat it as such. This is the child who didn't get their way in school but had so much support from their parents and likely even teachers that they were carried and allowed to fail upwards into their positions in life. They didn't earn them, merely acquired them by circumstance.
This is why you see parents who give their children nothing. Nepotism teaches a human nothing. They grow no values, they have no character; only gifts and grace despite their failures. You cannot become a quality human through total lack of downfall. There is no roundedness to you as you've never had to suffer.
Trust the reviewers, they know a good show when the Disney paycheck dictates them to say it's a good show. Welcome to the age of manufactured consent.
They say fans are the dark side but at the same time the dark side can be good on their story.... interesting.
Tony gilroy, extensively looks into wookiepedia to make sure nothing breaks the lore/canon
Harvey Weinstein’s former personal assistant, lol whos kai aidi mundi??
Ah Screen Rant, for every Pitch Meeting video they release, you can assure yourself there will he several articles released at the same time of people who don't know what they're talking about talking about exactly that. They went from poor arguments for "characters who could beat X character" to "the truth about fandoms"
I don't know how end up feeling so entitled to good reception.
Just regular narcissism
Lack of self-reflection is a sign of immaturity.
It baffles me that these people would expect good ratings from fans they call racist etc.
I’m really not surprised the person that looks like THAT is lashing out because of the trash heap she chose to make
Funny how good media never get review bombed.
When positive reviews happen:
This show is great! Just look at the reviews! It's proof that everyone loves it!
When negative reviews happen:
Guys...let's be honest. Reviews? Do they even matter anymore? We can't manipulate you the way we used to, so they're useless now.
"Gaslighting is a colloquialism, defined as manipulating someone into questioning their own perception of reality."
Back in my day we called it "lying" / "being a liar".
Notice how rotten tomatoes tried to fiddle with the audience scores for things affiliated with Disney before episode 7 came out
Then seemingly reversed it when they got caught
Disney just cannot accept criticism to save their lives, it's pathetic how its always the fans fault their content is shit according to them.
Thanks for another great one. Wolf! 🙏❤️😘
Acolyte and Dragon are on at the same time. One gets negative reviews and the other gets positive. Almost like there's a difference in writing, action, storytelling and characters.
How about the opposite, I'll call it "Review Blooming". How many critics were in their pocket, via early access, lots of swag, personal favors, etc... that wrote obviously inflated reviews.
20:44 - you guys made the same mistake as with The Acoshite, giving them too much credit. The writer prolly googled the movie and got a release date for some DVD/ Blu-Ray and it said "2011", cause she just has no idea what she's talking about and copying whatever PR-team release she was given. And editors do not exist.
i love how the "shorts" version of EFAP is still over half an hour long xD
7:00 As Myra says in that Superchat, Star Wars: The Old Republic is awesome. Just started playing last year.
That's the only Star Wars media I interact with. It's an amazing game! Like World of Warcraft, but they actually put effort into the story 😊
It's great. Lots of care given to each character story, the cinematics are better than all of Disney Star Wars.
Showrunners like this claiming that their shows are unsuccessful due to review-bombing by the toxic fandom remind me of chris-chan claiming that the damn dirty trolls are the only reason that Sonichu doesn't have a movie deal yet
This is a taste issue, the majority of the franchises fans dislike it because of quality and the show obviously trying to target to a certain taste & a target audience that doesn't serve/respect the franchise the best way possible... like cmon, 7 episodes in, how is it a 180 million dollar quality.m and how does that in itself respect Star Wars. They are complicity ignorant.
Why are the huge media like star wars, witcher, etc hired/being lead by people who actually don't care or even hate the project, all just want to make their own stories ignoring the lore/logic
Diversity
@@samael4550 ik that but how are they nodding their heads and saying "this is star wars" as the people are either ruining it or changing stuff that'll anger the fans that are paying for it
@@lulukomadori9651 Right? There's plenty of women and minorities who love star wars and COULD write/direct/perform decently. But I guess Leslye's portfolio of shitty romcoms was enough for disney to accept her
I'm certain they know that every controversial decision is free publicity
It really is weird how all these reviewers keep saying that the viewers are review bombing instead of legitimate criticisms about the show and how it is considered to be of low content. I'm have tempted to go to RT and see if the reviews are simple "it's bad cause it is" or people explaining their reasoning for good or bad reviews
Cant say for the Assolyte, but I've been pleasantly surprised with the level of constructive feedback I've seen on others.
A mark of a professional is that they can take criticism and suss out the useful information to make better quality products in the future. These people are amateurs
Leslie is realizing that reality sucks. The reality is this show is a 180 million dollar parody of itself.
The sentence about the fanbase making Star Wars stop is what everyone is thinking. These franchises won’t survive the decade cause of how they are making new fans and can’t cater to old ones
We're in an age where no one takes accountability for their actions and blames other. Even fake non-apologies are giving way to childish victim card holding.
I don't expect any Mea Culpas from Disney, LucasFilm or Hollywood in general. Because they'd have to own virtue in order to signal Sua Culpa.
One thing I've noticed about this and other shill articles is that their Star Wars references are all such basic, surface level sh-t. It's always something about "a galaxy far away" or "the dark side" and whatever else that's just absorbed from pop culture without even needing to see a single movie.
On the other hand, everyone on EFAP and like minded shows can pull out the most obscure references to back up their points... sh-t that you won't have a clue about if you just watched the opening credits and text crawl of one movie a few decades ago. 😐
Unfortunately the idea of co-ordinated strikes against certain shows doesn't play out when the 'bombing' is inconsistent, and often missing from shows where you would expect it.
They use a different language in the Hollywood bubble. Review Bomb = Show Bombed, Angry White Male =. Star Wars Fanbase and Star Wars = Dead Horse!
too bad she didn’t speak out when she was that one fella’s assistant 💀
Schrodinger's Review: Simultaneously legitimate and illegitimate, and show creators get to choose which one any given review is depending on how it affects their narrative.
Nobody: What do your bird eyes see, Fringolas?
Fringolas: This article is taking us to Cringengard!
Review Bombing insinuates that People are arsed to Care about that Crap.... 🤷♀️
She's clearly a believer in the power of MAAAAAANYYYYYY
it was still under 40% user rating before the review bombing started. And that was before we knew the show was going to get even fucking worse
The article really makes "FOR NAUR REASON" the central point
So much gaslight, Jack the Ripper would feel at home
I’m only halfway through this clip, but the Pickett review on revenge of the sith came out in 2010 according to IMDb. So, I’m not sure what the 2011 review bomb they’re referencing.
😂 headland asking if people take reviews seriously..
Well clearly she does as she’s talking about it 😂
How come people aren't "review bombing" House of the Dragon? It's got strong female leads, gays, even used to have an entire fandom against its predecessor.
Hmmm could it be that Acolyte is just bad? 🤔
At some point we have to admit, given that they continue with this game of blaming the fans, that this strategy works somewhat.
Review bombing? This reminds of George Carlin and his joke on how we keep changing the wording to make things sound nicer or worse. We used to call this "fans react to" meaning fans are reacting to something (good or bad) but they don't want any criticism so now it's "bombing". They're pathetic.
Superman 4 has a rotten tomatoes score of 10%. I guess that's another masterpiece that was review bombed
The audience that this is made for is not invested. They will watch one episode to see how far diversity and inclusion got pushed then go back to annoying everyone irl.
No one talks about Susanna White directing Andor Episode 4-6, because good episodes directed by a woman doesn’t fit the false narrative that Star Wars fans hates female directors.
Also, Susanna White did great work for the Star Wars universe.
Hi Wolf!
Imagine being a paid writer and writing the sentence "it's become more and more of a recent and habitual thing".
This article sounds like a malfunctioning AI wrote it
"Sheer uniqueness"? Gtfo
19:16 - 2011 is when Disney was buying Lucas...may be that's why Revenge of the Sith was "review bombed"
Edit: no, too much credit. she was copying a PR release at best, and googled it and got a Blu-Ray release date or just terribly incompetent Google "AI"
Mauler WHEN WILL YOU DESTROY UMBRELLA ACADEMY?!?
I’m telling you man it’s indescribable. It’s as bad as MoM or worse. The more you think about anything after S1 the worse it gets.
S3 literally has the world getting disintegrated by a singularity and they waste an entire episode on an End Of The World wedding.
It. Is. Awful.
"Reviews losing their credibility is a dangerous step in the wrong direction" - Says the side that is actively making them lose their credibility through the sheer lengths they will go to protect their shitty productions.
I love how they never take accountability for terrible writing and choices.
"The Acolyte Showrunner Lashes Out Against Review Bombing"
Replace "Review" with "Show". LOLOLOLOLOL
The term is to cover the asses, of everyone involved in the failure..
They can tell the higher ups, look its the Toxic Fans!
Their are even articles, a out these Toxic Fans.. Its not us! We make good stuff...
Their bossesdont watch this stuff!
I'm still waiting for the people who write articles like that to elaborate on what constitutes a "valid criticism" of the show.
Love Disparu glad you had him on
Any plans to upload the interview segment from this EFAP of how acolyte writer thought seduced menat *seduced* . The comments and discussion then was hilarious.
"The critics of Disney Star Wars are the Sith"
Given that a large portion call themselves the Fandom Menace I don't think this is as insulting as they think it is.
13:30 there’s two reasons for these sham articles, 1) it’s to convince people who haven’t seen the show that they’re getting unjust hate and review bombed so they get more blind defenders and 2) it’s trying to show how Lesly is a “strong” woman who “perseveres through the haters” and everyone should look up to her. It’s strictly propaganda and nothing more since they know they can’t convince true fans
I only pay attention to The Acolyte because I enjoy train wrecks. The rap video was just fantastic.
Is it just me? Or does Mauler sound like Duke Nukem whenever he does the Merican accent?
Ill say this. The actors who put in the hard work on these trainwrecks, actually earn that Disney level money.
But "review shooting" by paying the critics to shoot the score up does not exist and even if it does, it's ok.
After hundred episodes of garbage, you really need to see episode one hundred and one to know that its garbage too
Having the makers of Disney Star Wars say "ya know - if you don't stop criticizing the Star Wars content we make then Star Wars could go away" is like a woman being in a relationship with someone that beats you who says "ya know - I could leave you and then you would be alone". Yeah awesome sign me up for being alone lol i'm sick of the black eyes and bruised ribs.
12:50 Whoa. Cool it with the based numbers
ROTS had a Bluray release in 2011 - maybe that's something?
Oh, never mind, you guys noticed the same thing like two minutes later.
Mauler, please go into voice acting. That sh*t is like butter for you ears.
He did a narration for an Ant game I’m sure once
I believe he also read a short story that Wolf wrote, both his voice and the writing were very good. The playlist I saved it to got deleted by RUclips so I don’t recall the title anymore.
Would these people claim that battlefield earth was reviewbombed?
Just an FYI I have a Rotten Tomatoes account and I hate the Acolyte. But I haven’t left a review. So the review bombing is probably accurate to people just hating it.
There’s no such thing as review bombing. The content just makes more people want to leave a rating. Disney can STFU
Not only wouldn't I mind if they "the galaxy fizzled out" I call for it.... Let it try to recover from all this abuse and maybe in 10-15 years someone with some respect will treat it real nice and we can have something good again. Sadly like a lot of the series I've come to enjoy, it's all being tainted by people who don't give a shit and just want to use the franchise as a money wagon for themselves. They can do that but I won't be contributing to it... and I don't think I'm alone in that.
They can call us bigoted or whatever ist or ism word is hot right now, but all that's doing is alienating the established audience, talk about biting the hand that feeds you. See people forget because "bobby Iger" or whoever runs that shit company now signs your checks you think you're beholden to him... Who gives him that money to dole out? It's not really the investors because they take their profits or all of their money out whenever they feel like it. It's the fans that really fund projects... Investors started it and we keep it afloat. Do they think anyone would be giving them the money to make this if they were constantly not making any return from the fans? Franchises live and die by fan contribution and attention.
If people make something garbage, you're not allowed to acknowledge that. Especially if it is from certain sources.
Disney has pumped out garbage for many years now. But because they have someone gay, or black, they equate all criticism with hating that person.
Happy to be a prohl
