Beccause they are unironicly fascists (AKA National Socialists). That's not a smear, one of the definitions of actual fascism is a union of State power and the Free Market, with the power of corporations being restricted and guided by the State.
Well, you don’t get what socialism is then. It’s just state control of the corporations. Socialists don’t in fact hate corporations, they just hate that the government doesn’t own and run them.
How does that reflect on him? Why bring up gossip, essentialy? Criticize the person's shit takes, praise his good ideas and logic. everything else is fallacy and gossip.
The only reason to insert black elves and hobbits was to pander to a "modern audience" that doesn't exist. It's completely fine to call this out for the corporate pandering that it is. If a show without enough "diversity" hurts your precious little feelings, then go make your own story instead of changing an existing story.
When you insert races into a fantasy setting without any idea of where that race came from or how they got where they are it's 100% DEI message BS. Diversity has explanations these people haven't given any thought to how these races got where they are or why they haven't been integrated It's weird for a foreign trader to be black but if your neighbor is black and you aren't what the hell is going on? Is your race randomized at birth? Why aren't your races mixing, are you racist? If you're in an isolated community without significant immigration you should be the same mixed race or massively inbred.
The funny thing is, SO MANY people of color or queer people who want genuine diversity and representation speak up and say they want *new* and *well-crafted* stories with *new* and *interesting* characters representing those communities. I've seen so many say this "changing existing character to specific ethnicity or sexuality" is not only bad representation but straight up insulting, but they're often shouted down or called bad people for it too. This isn't a distinction along political lines either, its not just conservative people of color or LGBTQ conservatives saying this, people from ALL political backgrounds are saying this, but are painted as "far right" and shouted down. Insane that most "progressives" so quickly jump to the defense of the billion dollar corporation over people from the communities they claim to be an ally of. And I say this as an LGBT person most would consider to be a lefty lol
There shouldn't be dark skinned people in a fantasy setting that's the climate of England, or a permanently temperate magical realm. It's just ridiculous on the face of it.
"[Eowyn] doesn't do a backflip off a horse and throw a javelin a hundred feet" Rings of Power: "Okay so Galadrial rides upside down off a horse and made an orc's head explode"
Xanderhal doesn't seem to realize that him saying, "It got review bombed 1 hour post release. Before anyone had time to watch it, the score had already dropped to 50%!" is also him admitting to love bombing. If people who hated the show were going to RT and giving it low scores before anyone else, then it would not be at 50%, it would be closer to 0%. The reason it was at 50% was because it was being bombed in both directions at the same time, in equal measure.
@theraven268 I'm not meaning to argue against you, I'm asking because I'm not very knowledgeable on this subject; how is review bombing and love bombing not a thing? Isn't reviewing something without watching it based on broader public agenda (whether positive or negative) a common thing?
Fringy seems to love animals and gets annoyed when ppl talk negatively about them (e.g. calling pidgeons 'flying rats') Then again, he's Australian, so every animal that can't instakill a human is probably a 'neat li'l critter' to him.
Hey it’s Slanderhal. Yes this is mean but considering all the BS he’s stated over the years I have zero respect for the guy. And this video really showed just how ignorant he was over ROP.
"Nice is different than good" as Sondheim wrote in his musical "Into the Woods" (basically what would happen if Jordan Peterson wrote fairly tales) so it would also make sense that mean is different than bad.
@@gottesurteil3201 It's as simple as the line between cruelty and practicality; functional morality relies on the premise of, "Do better than you have to, be better than you have to, be more patient than you have to be." It's all about giving people an opportunity, sufficient leeway, to do something the right way themselves. Being practical sometimes means people are hurt in order to prevent worse hurt, like letting a girl know you do just want to be friends; her feelings will be hurt now, as opposed to much worse later on. So cruelty is when the malice IS the goal, as opposed to an interpretation of your behavior the wounded party has. This is pummeling the girl with your testimony to see her cry, or in the case of debate, insulting or belittling people simply because you want to see it happen. Both are mean, but only one intends to be mean against all other options Being mean will often lead others to (tactically, for their own good) assume you're malicious, but the lack of being mean allows the many human predators among us to invade spaces and harm those attempting to be good by using their innocent intentions as room for a sort of sneak attack. It's far better to be purposeful and mean, all day long, than it is to be unimposing and victimized for it.
@@Wolf_ManJack We are indeed too nice these days. Being rude is often treated as worse than being bad, so if someone is politely screwing you over, you're supposed to just smile and take it, because calling them what they are would be "causing a scene."
The thing the writers of ROP don't understand about Galadriel is the concept of how fcking ancient she is. Yes there might have been a point when she was more of a tomboyish or free spirit but it certainly wasn't within the timeframe of the second age when she was thousands of years old. At that point she was married, had a daughter, is the leader of a nation and has seen a lot of awful events. She is one of the wisest beings in Tolkien's world but in ROP she's a half-wit.
She was the Mistress of Magic. She was older than Gil-Galad, who talks down to her in the show. Most ironically, she was one of only two elves who saw through Sauron's disguise when he pretended to be an elf and helped to create the rings of power.
Of all the characters that appeared on the show only Sauron and probably not Gandalf were older. They bring in the Grey Havens, I think that is what it is called, elf that would be a third person older than her. I guess they assumed they could get away with it because not as many people would be that familiar with the timeline. Hell I am not I just know coming over from Valinor would make you old in the second age.
@jacquelineking5783 Cirdan the shipwright is the Grey Havens guy, and yeah he is older than Galadriel. the show writers apparently don't have any rights to the written material (LoTR, Hobbit, Silmarillion) So they were very much just writing fan fiction, ofc their tumbler heritage shines through their work just like how Tolkien's catholic upbringing does through his
@@kingleech16 True, we should invent a new term that describe them, how about no-wits, null-wits or maybe even nega-wits? oh cr*p, we can't use the last one, they will claim that it is raysis...
Xanderhal : "There's absolutely no way that people have consumed enough of the show to negatively review it if it's only been out for an hour." Also Xanderhal : "Yeah, I knew this show was great about 2 and half minutes into it."
I second this. Mauler spends a good 25 hours a day on different podcasts, it's impossible to keep up with sometimes, so clips like this are definitely welcome
This is who people should take their media and economic opinions on. A guy who likes a show purely from the flashy effects and puts all their money in their paypal and steam wallet.
@@gbalfour9618 I guess you could call it getting paid, I'd rather keep the people getting amazonbucks and political morons like xanderhal as separate but equally as stupid and corrupt groups.
Yeah, that's kind of the whole point of Tolkien's work, the sheer mountain of history he wrote that wasn't included in his published books (the rest being published from his notes posthumously).
Technically it‘s an Adam and Sitch highlight and not an EFAP highlight, but the presence of a Longman makes it at least one third EFAP, and that’s enough.
A&S have way too many bad takes to salvage decent highlight content. They may be able to make a "lowlight" channel that would be overflowing with content.
My rationale for keeping that part in the title is because it still included MauLer (same with the time that he, Fringy, and Rags went on their show and discussed why they don't talk about politics on EFAP). However, if it causes enough confusion, I can remove it from the title
Xanderhal: *decides he loves RoP in the first couple of minutes* Also Xanderhal: They decided they hated it before they could even watch the full episode!
MauLer always crushes it on political content appearances. He is an attentive common sense guy who can formulate arguments and follow trains of thought. It's all you ever need.
He seems more able than most to really focus purely on the argument made rather than get entangled in all the personal bullshit and ego that so often takes over. Perhaps, that's also why he spends most of his time not engaging in politics whenever he can avoid it, because so much of it turns into petty nonsense that he has no interest in.
Tolkien never said that Sauron couldnt raid a USSR nuclear sub and blow all of Gondor to bits with a nuke.. They should do that in season 2. What a stupid argument to make.
"Then Merry heard of all sounds in that hour the strangest. It seemed that Dernhelm (Eowyn in men's armour) laughed.... 'But no living man am I! You look upon a woman. Éowyn I am, Éomund's daughter. You stand between me and my lord and kin. Begone, if you be not deathless! For living or dark undead, I will smite you, if you touch him.' ...... 'Éowyn! Éowyn!' cried Merry. Then tottering, struggling up, with her last strength she drove her sword between crown and mantle, as the great shoulders bowed before her. The sword broke sparkling into many shards. The crown rolled away with a clang. Éowyn fell forward upon her fallen foe. But lo! the mantle and hauberk were empty. Shapeless they lay now on the ground...; and a cry went up into the shuddering air, and faded to a shrill wailing..., a voice bodiless and thin that died, and was swallowed up, and was never heard again in that age of this world." Literal quote from the book. I hate when the 'never would be made today' line is used in connection with that scene.
It wouldn't be made today because no one would write it like that. Not saying it is bad far from it but writing quality doesn't quite reach that. At least in my probably limited experience.
Few years ago, people started the idea, that not actively fighting racism, makes you complicit, and therefore racist. Once that happened there was no point trying to communicate with these people.
I felt that “Fuck You,” from him at 1:11:50… I’m so sick of people constantly stomping on any real media discourse. All you can ever say is, “the visuals are so epic,” “this girl is badass,” “screw the chuds.” And then they just pat themselves on the back for being so “media literate…”
Arguably, Xanderhal is claiming to be reputable by bringing up what a big LotR fan he is. He's not, which actually serves as a good example of "claiming to be reputable" in the way he uses the phrase.
To be fair it’s a deliberately vague thing to call people solely because you have no way to logically counter their arguments, making it a fake thing to say anyway
I can understand how people would react to the “I am no man” scene today, because a lot of people are on the defense with all the crap being pushed by Hollywood nowadays.
It’s an interesting one because The King absolutely flattens her and is about to I always assumed snap her neck. Then merry a male hobbit stabs him with a special sword so she can then strike the killing blow But would it even be done that way today or would she defeat him easily with no help?
Yeah, that's the thing; it's not that something happened, it's that the same thing keeps happening over and over again. Making Nick Fury black? Sure, Samuel L. Jackson is awesome, why not? Repeated race and gender swaps, always to get rid of white people/men? Now it's annoying. Especially when they not only do it, they shove it our face--look, look what we did, we included more melanin and vagina!
I get annoyed when people use that as an argument… because who do you think put them on defense mode? Why do you think they’re now less receptive and less likely to give any given movie the benefit of the doubt…
Xander seems to have a purely superficial world-view. Sarah Connor exists in Terminator 1 & 2 and that character is no different to him in Dark Fate because he only sees Sarah Connor as the physical presence of the same actor playing the canonically same character.
Reminds me a little of how Organized Chaos seems to see characters in movies. Whenever Rags criticized Black Widow for the obvious "Why didn't she call the Avengers to prevent this villain from literally mind controlling the entire world?" and OC seemed to take it as some kind of criticism of Scarlett Johansson's star power and ability to carry a movie. He heard that criticism and translated it into "Why do you think that a movie about a woman needs male superheroes in it to be successful, dude?". It's as if he doesn't see films as stories or as a medium of creativity, but just as popcorn-flicks with famous actors to shine their faces at the camera
@@marcogenovesi8570 Whenever they try to use that argument, they'll almost always try to make up a flaw with the older thing that either doesn't exist or is explained, or is already accepted to be a flaw by the actual fans anyway
Xan literally showed the 30 second intro of rings of power and whent "Hehe, see guys, this is why the show is good". I genuinly refuse to believe that he even knows what lord of the rings even is
Except, in his case it proves nothing, owning a movie is meaningless. Even if he had said that he had seen the movies a 100 times and says that he loves them. That by itself could be a meaningless statement if his takeaways are superficial or outright wrong. Atleast the guy with a black friend proves that he does not consider race to be a monolith...
I may have massive confirmation bias, but whenever I see exceptionally stupid people using exceptionally stupid arguments to defend things I don't like, it makes me feel more self assured that I have decent taste lol
"You could never make TLOTR" today!" Hollywood has been Desperately trying to recreate the powerhouse of cinematic success that was LOTR since it came out. Countless vacuous fantasy movies adapted from niche sources, everything has to be made as a trilogy, and none of it touches LOTR, because no matter how much money they pay for properties, they can't grasp that the people making it have to care about and like what they're creating. Early MCU was the only success, because they weren't trying to shallowly emulate LOTR's trilogy fantasy model. They had a passion to create this universe, and just like LOTR, the same hollywood honchos that scoffed, denied awards, refused recognition of its success, come back with unlimited money offers to own this thing, discard everyone who loves it, slap their slime all over it, then blame fans when they go broke. Also Star Wars.
and most of the time it's hollywood saying "we can do it better" that caused many of the attempts to fail there are so many book series that received mangled adaptations that only got one movie because the stories were changed so terribly ROP falls into this as well
I only know about him from his tantrums against Mauler on twitter. This might give me more in depth knowledge of his body of... 'work' sounds inaccurate... body of attempts at work.

Don’t know what race you are, but Leftist Ideologues only care about minorities (racial or otherwise) insofar as they can be used for votes or used to make themselves look righteous and caring…
The fun thing with Eowyn is that scene and the March of the Ents are both products of Tolkien despising the solutions to the witches' prophecies in Macbeth, to the point he wanted to put an actual moving forest and _the obvious answer_ to "no man of woman born" in his own story.
“You just watched a segment from a podcast called EFAP” I don’t think I did Wolfe, I’m pretty sure I just watched a segment from a podcast called the Sitch and Adam Show
I'm actually proud to say I still have the DVD $100 box set of LOTR's Extended Edition, cause alittle after I'd bought it, I had gotten robbed while I was at work. They stole over $1000 worth of games and movies...except for the LOTR's box set, itself. Simply because it looks like a bundle of books. It's....precious, to me. ^_^
My dad is the biggest Hobbit fan in the world. He has the movies on Blu-ray and it's not just Blu-ray, it's actually the 3D extended edition and it has director's commentary, and each box set has an extra disc with behind the scenes. Suck on this, Xander.
Weird activist writing was fairly common in the 90s, but the head writers and script doctors with final say tended to curb it because they needed the show to stay on the air. This isn’t helped by the fact that extreme left wingers have always tended to run on moon logic, so editing was always needed. They wanted Sisko to be “African in SPAAAAAAAAAACE” but various people on staff thought it would be more uplifting to not bring attention to it. I think making him more New Orleans than Race Activist was a good revision, frankly. The same was true of the latter years of Gene Roddenberry, who basically wanted to upset his enemies with TNG between his mircoseizures. They got rid of him instead of letting him crash the show. Clairmont’s original Phoenix Saga (eighties admittedly) was originally going to have them go back to school and never mention Jean ate a planet while possessed ever again. The before times were saved by the lost professional of competent editors, I tell you
Yet TNG went downhill once Gene died. I don't know a ton about the behind the scenes stuff of Star Trek but I'm pretty sure they couldn't get rid of him; it was in the contract that he had to sign off on every episode or they couldn't legally run it. It's why he was brought back for TNG in the first place.
@@billjacobs521 Gene was removed during the shooting of Captains Holiday in season 3, but his influence was being curtailed before that. I’d argue the show didn’t go downhill until season 6 when they pulled the best writers for DS9. To my mind, season 4 is probably the strongest season, at least based on the episodes I appear to have rewatched a lot on Amazon. His lack of interest in the movies thanks to TNG was credited with why Wrath of Khan turned out so well by the crew there, so I’m guessing there’s something to it. Edit: if he was having seizures on set (apparently he would stand with his eyes rolled back, twitching for sustained periods), they probably had him declared medically incompetent and got his son to approve things.
1:11:02 Not only that, but with a weapon crafted by the enemies of Angmar. Which is the only reason it was able to harm him. But that's a detail from the books that doesn't get mentioned in the movies, as it's a weapon just randomly given to him by Aragorn.
@@billjacobs521 That was what really confused me in the films, I'm only up to The Two Towers in the books. WK says "No Man can kill me", which I just took to mean he was immortal, that no Human could harm him because of Sauron's magical protection or something, but when Eowyn says "I am no man!", my first thought is "Surely that's not what he meant? Why would being a woman mean he's mortal or something?" Either WK was referring to his skill and power, in which case Eowyn being a woman wouldn't change anything and just seems like a really out-of-place line. Or WK was referring to a magical protection/immortality against humans, but if Sauron's made that protection so that it only applied to men and not women, that makes him look like a severely poor world-conqueror
@@TOONYBOY As Sitch explains, there was a prophecy about Sauron that no man could kill him. He though that meant he was invincible, that he would never be killed, but actually the prophecy was referring to the fact that he would be killed by a woman. Apparently this is because Tolkien read MacBeth and thought the way the "no man, born of a woman" line in that story's prophecy was circumvented (by the killer technically not having been born because a c-section was performed on their mother) was stupid and that person should have been killed by a woman.
@@TheRedHaze3 Yeah, you're still born in a C-section. It's a shame the whole prophecy aspect wasn't in the films. Surely they could have just worked in the necessary information in the scene where Gandalf introduces him to Pippin (I say that like they're having breakfast or something, you know the scene I mean). Also, where did that prophecy come from and why did the WK believe it?
Dunno who the hell this guy is but his points are the same typical NPC takes as most of that side "sexist, racist, toxic fans" & he clearly doesn't know shit about the lore, they didn't "get around" not having the rights to the Silmarillion they flat out rewrote everything except the opening few mins of the first episode and even that had to be heavily edited (no Flight of the Noldor, no Kinslaying, no burning of the ships). how about debating the actual criticisms about character, plot, dialogue or worldbuilding on their own metits instead of doing the standard bs. Edit: the Harfoots are not Hobbit ancestors or proto-Hobbits, that's gaslighting from the showrunners. Harfoots are simply one sub-species of Hobbit along with Stoors & Fallohides. There should be no Hobbits til 1106 of the Third Age, that's when they migrated west over the Misty Mountaintop some 3000 years later than the time ROP is set (That's also where they repurposed the "Wandering" song for season 1)
@@billjacobs521 um no, "proto" means original or primitive version of a thing. They're not primitive or original hobbits, they're just, regular plain hobbits. @ViolentMessiah666 just so you know, a subspecies is derived. There would have to have been protohobbits to have been derived from. Modern hobbits are mixed, as Gandalf chose bilbo for his heritage. While you aren't incorrect about the show's motivation, you're complaint is inaccurate. And honestly adjusting the timeline is fine if it improves the adaptation. Obviously it didn't, but agian the complaint is as lazy and intellectually bankrupt as the show itself. You don't need dogma, the show could never have been a 1 to 1 adaptation because of the medium. It will always be its own thing.
@@alexs7670 You've missed his point. Yes, there assumedly must've been a "proto-hobbit" that the three breeds (because Tolkien would not have called them subspecies) of hobbit all descend from. I really find political grouping annoying in debates by people from different nationalities because besides putting people in a box immediately, I also find myself lost in their definitions or views immediately because what is conservative for an American is very different from what is conservative to me as a European. It just adds another layer of assumptions that I will have to first deal with before we get to the arguments often.
Well that's because the argument "isn't meant for you". I swear some mfs make unfalsifiability into a sport and it's so lame. Like if I say something super stupid and racist, I'm genuinely interested to know what an Indian guy on the other side of the world thinks about my statement; this need to make statements as obtuse and "you can't disagree with me it's my experience" as possible hear makes everything so boring

"Review bombing" is just another one of those phenomena people like this have invented to assuage their egos. They can't fathom that such a vast swath of average people genuinely dislike their (obviously genius, morally unquestionable) storytelling, so they have to convince themselves it's an orchestrated "hit". What's always amusing is that in the very same breath, they'll label all of their detractors as unstable, extremist conspiracy theorists lol
1:18 yeah. And everything he mentioned breaks the lore. It’s not a nothing complaint. It’s like making a Narnia adaptation and making Aslan a badger. That’s not what he is. Or remaking Harry Potter and making everyone cyborgs. The Elves aren’t black, the Numenorians aren’t black, the Gondorians aren’t black, the Dwarves aren’t black, the Hobbits aren’t black. They’re all white. Galadriel isn’t a warrior. She’s never been in a war or was a commander. Her strength doesn’t come from swordplay, it comes from her wisdom, compassion and foresight. She’s smart and possibly one of the strongest beings on Middle-earth. She’s the epitome of femininity. Not a dumb brute and a knockoff of a man. The funniest thing is, that’s not even the worst thing about the show. The show could be a bad adaptation and lore breaking but still good. It isn’t. It’s horribly written and extraordinarily dumb.
I don't think people would complain about the "I am no man!" scene in Return of the King even if it were released now, because it's a scene that's built up as a payoff to character development and plot and worldbuilding, and she DOESN'T do it awesomely with no problem. She gets an arm broken, her father still dies, and she is a changed person after it happens. And... you guys pretty much covered all the points I could have made beyond that.
The only thing i know about xanderhall is that his exgirlfriend was a junkie who stole money from him to buy heroine. And it's the only information i need to know about him
Apperently the reason Eowyn is able to kill the Witch King isn't actually because she is a women but that the sword Merry used to stab him with had a magical enchament that basically broke the spell protecting him. Thus Eowyn deals the finishing blow. But I haven't read the books, I've only seen the movies. So I don't actually know for sure myself.
Her being a female is more of a dramatic irony. It's a bit vague in the book how much it actually does mechanically. The deep context is it's a jab at MacBeth, where it's prophesied he'll be killed "not by a man of woman born", and Tolkien thought obviously it should be a woman then, but then it's actually a guy who was born by c-section, and as McB dies he clunkily explains how he's not _technically_ of woman born, cause she was already dead when he was pulled out-- and Tolkien thought that ending was fucking stupid and made it an actual woman in his version.
@@RealMrBruh The Ents marching on Isengard was also a MacBeth reference; Tolkien really wanted _the trees themselves_ to march, not guys with leaves on their heads
I know both sides want to mock the hate for female leads thing, but that's literally because of being burned so many times. That's not just a hatred of women, that's media after media of female led or created content devolving in bad writing/cringe relationship drama and most important, one-sided divisive idpol lecturing on either how hard it is to be a woman or how evil men are. TLOU part 2 and She-Hulk being my last straw on ever giving female led media anymore chances and so far I haven't been wrong lol.
In a single comment, you cut through the bullshit and voiced the irritation that I feel, as do others, so much with these media outlets. I hate that clip of Eowyn because it cuts out Merry who helped kill the Witch King by stabbing him from behind. It changes the context of the scene dramatically.
mauler literally said earlier in the same pod that modern culture can definitely influence the meaning of a scene. and i am got to be honest. Eowyn scene would very much garner ridicule today even if it was made identically. because modern girlboss trend have pretty much made everyone highly alert and critical to those kind of scenes
Xander praising the orcs as looking like the Uruks from Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War is quite funny considering the lore of those games is well known to be broken beyond comprehension
So I've discovered that there are three groups of people. Those who think the Iconography is the thing. Those who like what the Iconography represent. And those who dont even know what the Iconography is.
To counter his tweet he likes: YES because we've be correct in that criticism lol. That yes in the past with female leads or character of different races, it WAS organic real diversity because their gender was either never mentioned or in passing once and that's it. They're characters first and foremost that HAPPEN to be women or black. WHY they're so beloved, they're actual PEOPLE instead of a message you want to see. Which IS what modern diversity has become, their identity first, who they are as a person last. They are proud black or proud women before an actual induvial human. And when they try, they fail because the underlining goal of "representation" is the main one. Making them actual people who can think for themselves gives the tiny heart pounding thought in leftists that maybe-JUST MAYBE that means those characters wouldn't ideologically/politically agree with them IRL. Mauler explained it as well.
47:55 AAcktshually there is a point to be made about the Aragorn house. Don't forget his last name/family name is rarely used in the story (especially the movies) and he does consider himself not to be a proper part of the family for part of it. A better example would be Harry Potter from house Harries
The Targaryens werent a shit house or had no power on Valyria. What had happened was that the current head of the Targaryen house, Aenar, had moved everything from family members to treasures and dragons because his daughter Daenys had a vision about Valyria being destroyed. Targaryens only survived out of *sheer* luck All of this is in a book called The Rise of the Dragon that was written up for House of the Dragon

Sorry black people in media upsets you so much.

Real talk, review bombing isn't a real thing. The term is useless.
@theraven268 I'm not meaning to argue against you, I'm asking because I'm not very knowledgeable on this subject; how is review bombing and love bombing not a thing? Isn't reviewing something without watching it based on broader public agenda (whether positive or negative) a common thing?

Hey it’s Slanderhal. Yes this is mean but considering all the BS he’s stated over the years I have zero respect for the guy. And this video really showed just how ignorant he was over ROP.
Why is it mean?
Both are mean, but only one intends to be mean against all other options
Being mean will often lead others to (tactically, for their own good) assume you're malicious, but the lack of being mean allows the many human predators among us to invade spaces and harm those attempting to be good by using their innocent intentions as room for a sort of sneak attack.
It's far better to be purposeful and mean, all day long, than it is to be unimposing and victimized for it.

You stand between me and my lord and kin. Begone, if you be not deathless! For living or dark undead, I will smite you, if you touch him.'
......
Shapeless they lay now on the ground...; and a cry went up into the shuddering air, and faded to a shrill wailing..., a voice bodiless and thin that died, and was swallowed up, and was never heard again in that age of this world."

Hollywood has been Desperately trying to recreate the powerhouse of cinematic success that was LOTR since it came out.

Either WK was referring to his skill and power, in which case Eowyn being a woman wouldn't change anything and just seems like a really out-of-place line.

There should be no Hobbits til 1106 of the Third Age, that's when they migrated west over the Misty Mountaintop some 3000 years later than the time ROP is set (That's also where they repurposed the "Wandering" song for season 1)
That's what "proto-hobbits" means, my dude. But I do think it's funny that Galadriel talks about needing redemption but won't mention why.
@@billjacobs521 um no, "proto" means original or primitive version of a thing. They're not primitive or original hobbits, they're just, regular plain hobbits. What happened is they wanted hobbits & wizards in the 2nd age for memberberries even tho they shouldn't be there for thousands of years then realised Warner still holds licence on "Hobbit" from when they made "The Hobbit" so they can't say it on-screen
But it cannot be the Harfoots, because the Harfoots _are_ one of those three. They are no more ancient than the Stoors or the Fallohides.
The left and left leaning having a stranglehold on almost all media and entertainment institutions has made them incredibly bad at actually making an argument.
correct, but for the past 10-15 years there is nothing about them that is "left-wing", all it is now is the "not right", or they are anti what the communists associate with right-wing beliefs... or, it's oikophobia.
Remember, this man was smart enough to not his money in a bank, so his druggie ex-girlfriend took his money when she left, and he had to move back to his parents... :-P
*put
He’s a good socialist, sharing money with a poor druggie
bruh really? hilarious.
Socialists would never argue that big budget tv shows money should be spent on feeding the homeless because they actually hate charity... "Must be done through force of gubmint"
If we solve the problem, they’ll have nothing to bitch about.
@abeaconintheofficeso a socialist
@abeaconintheoffice socialist not having a job, yeah. The people republic of youtube doesnt like socialism being criticized
Wait...does Xanderhal think that Sarah Connor is a real person with a consistent personality? Just because a character shows up again in a different movie doesn't mean they're written the same, or written as well. Winnie the Pooh from "Blood and Honey" isn't the same character as the original Winnie the Pooh.
And jay considers this guy a friend lmao
Efap considers shad a friend, and he's been dropping off his mask as a despicable man-child the kind EFAP would have clowned upon like NoBullshit.
But nevermind that, I thought it was fine to be friends with people regardless of their politics(?) are you saying jay should Not be friends with xhander? maybe he's a good friend despite his sh*t politics
When my nephew was growing up, he loved shrek; but specifically, the scene in shrek where he fights farquaad's men in the castle. Anytime he wanted to watch shrek I knew we were in for 20 minutes of just that scene, shrek hitting guys and 'bad reputation' on repeat. Based on how he talks about it, and his reaction to the dragon scene in RoP, I have to assume that xanderhal consumed lord of the rings in the same manner
It's amazing how Americacentric American internet lefties are. Especially considering how much they seem to hate America and being American lol
@@samwallaceart288 Nah. I will get called a liberal, conservative on multiple occasions and I have to ask for clarification and often they don't bother to actually engage in the discussion anymore. This political grouping stuff just poisons the conversation from the beginning.
@@jeroenceulemans3715 oh yeah. I've been called leftist for liking Last of Us and a white supremacist for liking Joker in the same day lol
I try to avoid Euro centric political labels like the plague, especially when discussing media. I mostly adhere to pre WW2 American ideology(stronger States rights, less powerful central government with little to no overreach, etc) but I still get roped in with moderately right to alt right for one reason or another. It really ruins the core point of a discussion when your opponent, whatever their alignment, are simply looking for something to "get rid" of you over or worse, completely slander you and your position.
Isn’t it actually more sexist to say that you’re not allowed to criticize movies and shows that feature women as main characters? As if to say they’re too weak to handle criticism and they need me to defend them. That shit is so patronizing 😂
Every video mentioning Xanderhal deserves to be flooded with references to BigBunjeeeee. Man got it right when talking about the crackhead gf, complete lack of understanding about finance, and general mishandling of life. More people need to hear about all of the stupid shit he's done.
not to mention defending Balenciaga's creepy ass children ad and trying to cancel Shoe0nHead for calling that out
has anything that got review bombed ever succeeded? i dont understand how pointing out the review bombing is a defense for the show.
This video title makes it sound like mauler is about to perform an epic guitar solo for a full hour.
Political brain rot.
@@samwallaceart288 Ohh ok. That's pretty neat. I also thought the way Macbeth dies was dumb lol. It's nice knowing Tolkien agrees with me on that lol.
They’re just the same parasitic, para-social, dishonest organizations they’ve always been; they’ve just jumped onto more targets than celebrity beef and victim stories.
I hate that clip of Eowyn because it cuts out Merry who helped kill the Witch King by stabbing him from behind. It changes the context of the scene dramatically.
1:13:28
You couldn’t make LotR today because people would say: “hey, this is Lord of the Rings, wasn’t this already made?”
More clips of Mauler and the rest of EFAP on Sitch and Adams show please!!
mauler literally said earlier in the same pod that modern culture can definitely influence the meaning of a scene. and i am got to be honest. Eowyn scene would very much garner ridicule today even if it was made identically. because modern girlboss trend have pretty much made everyone highly alert and critical to those kind of scenes
At this point it’s people noticing patterns even though they may be wrong in a few cases.
Xander praising the orcs as looking like the Uruks from Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War is quite funny considering the lore of those games is well known to be broken beyond comprehension
Breadtube is cancer.
🍞=☠️
Targaryens only survived out of *sheer* luck
All of this is in a book called The Rise of the Dragon that was written up for House of the Dragon
Bro basically just said "I saw a dragon and a fantasy map and got ROCK hard".
... I can relate
Another big change is that Halbrand exists. In the lore Sauron appeared as an elf named Anatar (probably spelled wrong) to trick the elves.
1:09:00
Yes if Lotr came out to day(made exactly the same as then) it would be concerns, until people watched it.
I don't know about Xanderhal, but he looks like one of these people who would tell his audience why critical thinking is important while also being extremly superficial
I love the gargoyle example and we currently have a batman animated series reboot with gender swapped penguin 😂😂😂
“Xanderhal” is spelt wrong in the title
Fixed 👍
They paraphrased the line from RotK for the movie but it's still a pretty sick mic drop moment. I actually just re-read the whole scene and it's epic in its badassery.
I mean to be fair, that inconsequential fight scene at the beginning was probably the best looking part of the show. And the main part where I went, huh that's kinda neat.
To be pedantic Theoden was Eowyns uncle but her father figure for sure
Don't listen to these people, it DOES change the lore. There's a difference between taking liberties with something being vague or cutting out a line or scene here & there and literally going: "I'm just gonna fxcking make up what I think happened-BLEH!" This isn't Lovecraft's (as much as I love him) tag-along easter egg worldbuilding he did with his group of writing friends lol. Tolkien built a world.
I just started watching the rings of power to see what all the hubub was about. The scene xanderhall got hard on, I dont even remember lol.
