It was not only Pranab Mukherjee lost Prime Ministership but P.C. Alexander also lost Prasidentship of lndia due to the crooked and tactical advice of some Congress leaders.

Then, if he had/hadn't made trip to Pakistan and praised Jinnah and then Jaswant writing book on him would have been interesting. Maybe INC would have won 2009. Then 2014 would surely have been different. Also, Pramod Mahajan and Modi were severe Adversaries. Had Mahajan not died in 2006 and With Rajnath-Gadkari-Sushma-Shivraj-Vasundhra-Gopinath Munde (not including Jaitley and Parrikar as they supported Modi after 2002), Modi-Shah wouldn't have been able to get BJP in his hands.
There was a time... When people like Pranab Mukherjee, APJ Abdul Kalam, Manmohan Singh, Atal ji, Joyti Basu.. left, Right or Center.. these guys were genius.

For today's politicians a Manmohan Singh-Pranab Mukherjee situation would be a reason to clash and break out from service. However, these two individuals maturity never caused a single friction between them. But yes, in one way, they empowered Gandhis, something they shouldn't have. Something had they stood up against, perhaps would have made the political course of India a bit different.

He was one of the last few true Hindus and nationalists that the Congress had. True patriot who had actually worked behind the scenes a lot to stop the worst of the Congress’ worst excesses. We often hear that leaders like M. Gandhi don't come anymore but really we are not looking up to leaders who are if not better equally great as leaders of past. With Pranab Mukherjee the hope of INC also went to the other world. Its a shame that he wasn't given a key position to lead the party, a mistake which may very well cost the INC its existence.
