Maratha stands for all the Maharashtrians that speak Marathi Language and believe in the Ideas of Swarajya put forward by the great Chatrapati Maharaj. Even the Maratha Empire was called 'Maratha' and not Marathi or Maharashtra Rajya. Yes, notably Maratha caste exists in Maharashtra but this caste is barely a century old. Even the Peshwas of Pune that includes Bajirao and Babasaheb and Sadashivrao etc used to proudly call themselves Marathas. Marathas is a broader conception, it includes all casts, sects and religions that reside in Maharashtra and believe in the ideas of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

What you are saying is similar to saying pakistan is india because it was for thousands of years which is obviously not true today. Peshwas were brahmins and chhatrapati were marathas. The thing about maratha history is that it has its early credit to outsiders like duff but insider stuff is always deep.

But, he was using this to spread hatred towards Muslims. He is also culprit of killing 100s of people in regional politics and Trade union politics. He was the selfish, Power hungry and dividing force of India and will never support him.

I remember In 2012 i was in 12th class and it was Diwali,and i saw people suddenly removing their kandils(lamps),removed lightings and all decorations,in my whole life i never saw a diwali without lights and firecrackers in Mumbai..at that time i was not a lot into politics,many people also roamed with weapons telling people to turn off lamps and lights,shutting down shops,i was not a fan of thackeray nor of politics as i was just 17 that time..but soon i realized he was/is theTiger of Maharashtra..
