Helps that Jerry is probably the opposite of 99% of interviewers. No fake shit just honesty and music with no hidden goal or motive to hide behind. I can't remember a single interview where Jerry dropped the ball!
Seen them twice, first time almost over 10 years ago in New Orleans. One of my good friends is a huge fan and personally got them to play the gig. They were my introduction into back metal and although I'm not the biggest fan of the genre as a whole I LOVE this band and have supported them since the night I met them. My friend gifted Jason a real found goats skull and Jason just stared at this thing in reverence the entire time before they played. Smoked a J with Tom the drummer in the back alley, really friendly guy. Jason didn't partake and didn't talk much and was very stoic the entire time but i could tell he was serious about the thing he was about to do and wasn't going to be influenced by any unwanted external force. They played, no make up and on a local bands equipment, and blew me away. Epic band. Epic dudes.
Poor Rauta, his voice is shot from Interviews/festival/etc. and yet he persists on for the people. We salute you Sir & thank you for making this happen!!
Absolutely awesome, Dagon is one of those guys that speak with intelligence and coherent arguing, I've been friend of him for long time here in Colombia we've share some few times discussing about Metal and drinking a beer, Inquisition it's one of the most original bands I've ever heard. Total respect! Can't wait for the coming second part of this inti, and hopefully we (Witchtrap) will share stage with mighty Inquisition here in Colombia on early Oct . Btw, see ya on May 2023 on SteelFest Open Air
Dagon is an really interesting dude. Inquisition is one of the greatest black metal bands to ever exist, and is certainly the best American black metal band. Thank you putting this up.
Okay there we go Jerry, hands down the most excited I’ve been for an interview of yours. Dude is a HUGE inspiration for me on the guitar (I have the same Fernandes Ravelle guitar). 🤘
This is, very sincerely said, the BEST interview ever I have seen done w/ Dagon!! It's great to see how deep he can go with all of his absolutely compelling answers. Looking forward to watching the 2nd part of the interview, too! \,,/
Amazing interview!! F*cking love Inquisition. Dagon is a very knowledgeable and interesting guy. Could easily listen to him for hours. Can't wait for the second part!! Cheers.
I waited for part II to come out to watch it fully. Lots of respect to Dagon and Rauta team. This one is amazing. Someone in the comments said something like, "This isn't interview. This is having a conversation." and I agree. Great energy here. Thank you many times!
Although I'm not a big fan of the band itself, I do enjoy seeing behind the veil of the personalities and what makes them tick. Great interview so far Rauta, looking forward to seeing part 2. Also, very polite of you guys not to tell that other guy to p*ss off, after inviting himself into the interview.
Bravo for this interview, I can't wait to see the second part Everyone knows that Inquisition is superior (including the last album) but Dagon is one of the most passionate and talented musicians. Black metal needs more real artists like him.
Great interview, enjoyed both parts very much. Inquisition is one of those bands that have a defined, succinct sound. It’s awesome to see Dagon speak directly. You don’t step all over the interview, either. It flowed well.
I saw Inquisition live in this tiny community center in Victoria BC with several other great bands. Legendary night. I probably could have, but never tried to meet the gentleman behind Inquisition that evening.. I never knew Dagon was such a well spoken, thoughtful, intellectual type. I found his deep thinking and analytical approach refreshing, and very enjoyable to listen too. As is often the case with metalheads (specifically) they are much more than meets the eye.
Ambrosia theatre? 2010 and that was a great show and I was in the band gyibaaw supporting them and along with the whole tour across Canada haha was a blast

I've had a great time touring across Canada with inquisition back in 2010 and getting to know Dagon and Incubus was great. Very well spoken and a attentive listener! Even a simple conversation, he speaks like this for sure. Great interview as usual my mang and hails from Canada Eh 🇨🇦
Thank you for this interview, it's one of the very best I've ever heard of Dagon. And I also can't tell you you how happy I am to hear and see him speak again.
Another great interview. You've introduced me to lots of bands in black metal I would never have heard about it, like Wolves in the Throne Room. I hope your voice recovers.
Super interesting hearing Dagon talk about his background and the way that all gave life to Inquisition role in the metal world (which is huge and hugely unique!) Thank you very much Rauta for your dedicated effort! You f***kin' rock man!
Incredible interview, better then any podcast, tv show or what the fuck. Just cool dudes sharing some thoughts. Also Pure Holocaust is one hell of an album to start the journey with. Imo better then Mysteriis.. and (early) Burzum. That album is an absolute force especially production wise a very rare moment where Immortal absolutely nailed it.
pure holocaust is one of the following albums i recommend as a starter for every would-be black metal listener. along with the other classics like Vikingligr veldi, under the sign of hell, de mysteriis, in the nightside eclipse, those of the unlight, under the sign of the black mark, and nemesis divina. i don't recommend things like burzum (*if i would it would be det som engang var), darkthrone (if i would, it would be Under A Funeral Moon) or Beherit or any of this to new first time listeners.
@@ianswift3521 I agree however my list would look different. Enslaved their first 2 works I really enjoy. Whilst Dissection etc is great it's not really "black metal" I guess, but for starters yeah probably a good call. Nemesis Divina I would take off though, I never liked that album and honestly I'm not big on Satyricon. Imo just as Mayhem (and possibly Burzum depending on who you're asking) usually overrated by people. Pure Holocaust in particular especially being part of the early 2nd wave is an absolute gem. I think bands like Taake are great for new listeners due it being 2nd wave and grim but completely fleshed out into something else. It's chaotic mix will set you up for harsher productions in the future and allow your brain to being able to follow wtf is going on. But hey, I started with Immortal and Dissection. Then started delving into Darkthrone, Burzum, Mayhem and only after started really going in deep. But even during my "early" discoveries I found quickly bands that peaked my interest much more then the "oldschool" bands. However I will add that I probably would tell people to go listen to Blood Fire Death rather then black mark or the return. But it's good to see people like yourself not being total sheep (posers I guess?) and following blindly of what is supposed to be "good / best" black metal (which on the internet seems limited to Burzum, Darkthrone and Mayhem).
