Jonathan's answer to one of the recent Q&A questions of the validity of Miracles reflects this idea of the fitting together of meaning and matter. Love it!
"Miracles are the place where meaning and phenomena are so joined together that they shine really, really brightly."

I haven't heard miracles described like that. Its helpful and intriguing at the same time.

I'm glad you enjoyed Matthieu's book! It's really helped strengthen my faith over the past year and given it a new lease on life. As an adjunct to this book and in further developing this cosmic language, I'd like to recommend 3 other books by some Orthodox saints. I've listed these in increasing difficulty.
    1. *_The Universe as Symbols & Signs by Saint Nikolai Velimirovich_* : www.stspress.com/shop/books/orthodox-spiritual-life/the-universe-as-symbols-and-signs-an-essay-on-mysticism-in-the-eastern-church/
    2. *_On the Cosmic Mystery of Jesus Christ by Saint Maximus the Confessor_* : svspress.com/on-the-cosmic-mystery-of-jesus-christ/
    3. *_On the Ecclesiastical Mystagogy by Saint Maximus the Confessor_* : svspress.com/on-the-ecclesiastical-mystagogy/
Be warned. Saint Maximus will rewire your synapses!!!

Thank you for your thorough 3-part review. I appreciate how seriously you tackled the book and its impact on your sacred practices.

I'm glad you appreciated the series and this third video. In reflection, the impacts I mention are as true now as when I posted this video. I still refer to the book today, in my everyday life, as well as the writings and videos and podcasts I publish.

like others have said, these are the same fruits that have come into my life from this work and lens that it gives towards our actions in the world God has made.

It freaks me out a little how much I agree with your points here. Especially your recommendation on pace. I think the shorter chapters really come into play here, as I often found myself needing to stop and digest after one or two chapters. It really is true, you can go a bit crazy if you don't take time to integrate the information onto "earth". I think you laid out some great practical points in that area, but I would say you could go deeper into the point on ornamentation. No one is safe from the smartphone problem!
I am also starting on the church Fathers with Hymns on Paradise, so I'll add my vote to you making content on your readings of the Fathers, as well as any New Testament or Christ-centered insights. Keep up the good work!
Also it looks like your paypal link is broken

I'm glad you are reading the church fathers as well! I'll add the book you are reading to the list.
Perhaps the old passages of people becoming "undone" amidst heavenly counters could be something akin to Pageau's caution of "going crazy" in modern terms.
Trust me, this is merely the beginning on ornamentation and the smartphone discussion ;)
I'll check on the PayPal link; thanks for the heads up. You could try one of the wish lists to help the cause in the meantime.

2:35 The example I always use is the Star-Spangled Banner. It was written by Francis Scott Key after a fearsome battle in the War of 1812. Is The Star-Spangled Banner historical? Yes. Does it recall actual events? Yes. Does it use poetic language and meter and rhyme to bring the mind to higher levels of truth, and to imply that beauty can still come from a deadly battle? Yes. Is poetry less useful or meaningful because it's not a play-by-play account of how many shots were fired and at what times they were fired and who fired which cannon? Of course not. The scriptures are the same. Academics end up killing the frog because of their obsession with dissecting the frog and trying to account for what a frog is by looking at its constituent parts.

Loved the Star-Spangled Banner and frog examples. Spot on. Are you familiar with Alastair Roberts book Echoes of Exodus and his work on reading Scripture through the metaphoric language of music?
I made a quick video about it here: ruclips.net/video/FIvA4kV_Uqs/видео.html.
He goes into more detail in our conversation together too. You might appreciate that; it seems to compliment your music example.

@@DerekJFiedler I am not familiar with Mr. Roberts nor his work. I'll definitely look into it more. Thank you for the recommendations!

@@jeremyfirth you got it. I would put his work right up there with Pageau. I borrowed his music metaphor to frame my recent article on the film Arrival.

6:07 I am listening to this while working, what a paradox. Should I stop? What time of the day would you recommend for listening to podcasts, preachings and these kind of things? I would love a video about how to organize time and balance work and rest

Interestingly, I am reading this book for the fifth (or so) time. It's as profound this reading as it was the first, and perhaps even more now that I have a wider foundation of understanding. What I said in this video is true today. I honor the days and seasons of rest. I play music for rejuvenation after a period of hard work. Things like this.
