Very nice explanations. Also, I think yours is the first video I've ever seen saying that torrified maple shafts squirt less because they're lighter. The other videos I've seen just say, "They squirt less," and leave it at that. I bet a lot of people think that the color brownish-orange is somehow inherently a low-squirt color.
Nice video Matt….your cues are at least as good as any out there….maybe even the best. And your customer service is the best in the business…….ie…prompt replies, satisfaction guaranteed, you answer emails and phone calls immediately and personally, and you use the best materials available, while providing other custom services…..etc….etc…..etc…
As always Bob, you are a scholar and a gentleman!!! It’s always my pleasure to be of service to my customers. Hope all is well. Be safe and keep in touch my good friend!!!
Mapleshafts change with the environment that's a great sales and marketing pitch. It has never affected my game. Play with carbon fiber and the humidity and temperature still affects the table. The fact that Willie moscone run 526 consecutive balls with a 13 mm solid Maple shaft. And Jason Shaw just potted $714 consecutive shots with a maple shaft not to mention Efren Reyes plays with maple Earl Strickland, Francisco bustamante, Alex paglion. Carbon fiber has one thing missing and that is feel has absolutely no feel. I will take my wood any day and for some reason it really pisses off all the league players that have $1,000 predator revo cues.
One thing that is not being mentioned about maple shafts is the different type of tapers. Typically, when you buy a cue, it comes with a pro taper which is more flexible and have more deflection. If you get a maple shaft with a stiffer taper, you won't have all that deflection. So you won't need to buy a fiber shaft. Type of taper makes a huge difference.
i own a jacoby KW 12.45 mm shadt,i still have the original tiger tip on it,im changing it to kamuis SS tip thats on my jacoby ultra pro 11.75 shaft that gives me nice english
Very interesting and informative video. Can you make the shafts 31 inches long? Also, I bought my Viking cue 30+ years ago and am not sure of what joint pin I have, I think it's 3/8-10 but I'm not positive, can someone at team XLR8 help to confirm because I don't want to buy a shaft and find out it doesn't fit or line up properly. Keep up the great work 👍💪🎱.
Hey Todd. 31” shafts can be built for some cues. I can definitely help you with joint pin identification. Give me a call when you have a moment. 724-710-5363
I would argue against maple shaft changing based on the environment. What matters most is your stroke. I have no issue drawing full 9 ft table length. I have an LD shaft SS360/2 and regular maple shaft (treadway). Treadway shaft has a lot of flex to it because it's more than 31 inch in length. If I'm in stroke, I get lower deflection from the Treadway shaft but if I'm not in stroke and jabbing the ball then the deflection feels higher. I'm going to get a KW shaft from Treadway soon so that I can compare the 3, I absolutely love how regular maple plays. I don't like the CF shaft as it lacks the feel. I also am not a big fan of SS360/2 although has low deflection but greatly lacks in power compared to regular maple. The action that I get from Treadway shaft is also amazing.
Won't the cue ball throw to the right if you use inside (left) english on that shot at 5:53? You said there that you need to aim more to the right? Seems like if the cue ball is throwing right you aim a little more to the left, maybe I am not understanding.
Snooker players use wood shafts AND the top players keep and use the same shaft for DECADES. The climate in the snooker world fluctuates far more than it does in the USA. Last week in Las Vega, Zielinski won with a maple shaft. His Fargo rating is over 800; playing with a maple shaft. Second place winner in that match also shot with a maple shaft. Find a cue, not just a shaft, that feels right and makes you confident. Then practice, practice, practice...
pros dont truly care what they use, they simply use what sponsor they have. But you are correct really you can play with any cue, pick one that feels good to you.
How does the kielwood compare to z2. I tried half an hour revo from a friend, did not like it. Became once Belgian champ, I have “some” cue power, not the best. I think i could do amazing stuff with carbon. But I had no feel so I do not think it will work when i restart. So the Cynergy gives a would feel? Z2 they do not make it anymore and started to read about kielwood last week. When i went to a tournament it started itching to restart, but so much carbon. Nobody kielwood. Also LD predator as well. I do not really like the z3 compared to z2.
Here is some honest advice relating to consumer psychology. Potential customers will associate a high quality video with a high quality product. Low quality audio will place doubts in the viewers mind about how dedicated and thorough you are when it comes to your work. Low quality audio is no doubt turning people away from your product.
Now I understand different shaft and stuff like that but the second part where you hold your hand don’t know the proper name. How you know it fit the shaft you buy that the only thing I need help with
Demonstrate more and less talking you should be showing the difference between the carbon fiber and the maple shop that’s what we want to see you not listening to you talk night and day not doing any demonstration shots I have no time for this thankyou

Consistency is definitely what sold me. Great video Matt. 👍.

Kielwood against carbon fiber. What shaft would you choose?
Aren't those wood shafts sealed? Why would there be any reaction?

I shoot with a person league cue. How much for a carbon shaft. I also like kielwood but jacoby.

"WOOD" not "WOULD"

GET UP TO THE MIKE so we can HEAR you!! You know a lot about shafts - nothing about recording SOUND!!!
Suggest you wear a clip-on mike. This would make sure your sound would be consistent. Otherwise I enjoyed it.
Demonstrate more and less talking you should be showing the difference between the carbon fiber and the maple shop that’s what we want to see you not listening to you talk night and day not doing any demonstration shots I have no time for this thankyou
Ooops! Miscue! Not good.
