    I hope everyone likes the video! One thing I want to reiterate is these are my opinions based on my experiences and your experience may be different. With that said, man, I love this shaft, IMHO! Like I said in the video, let me know what you think about this 2 part format that I am trying to hopefully shorten the video lengths. Like it or hate it? I have my opinion but I want to hear yours. Thanks again to Richard at RJH Custom Cues for this opportunity and I can’t wait to get to filming Part 2 after the light is installed!

      Yes, I noticed that in other reviews that you have done. I don't hate the music but I didn't come to your video to hear music. It really take a lot away from the review when you drown out the sound of the hit completely, start to finish . Wouldn't have been so bad if you hadn't played the music for the whole time that you were using the shaft. Some commentary while you were playing would have been welcome. Can't wait for Part 2 . Whenever you get around to it it would be great if you could do a review of the TIGER Products Fortis carbon fiber shaft. Its comes in 12mm and 12.5mm but I prefer the 12mm. I'm not a Viking Fanboy but I think you maybe the only reviewer that would seriously review ANYTHING regardless of hype. I have done countless deflection studies on many cues and the Viking Vikore is the lowest wooden and the Viking Siege is the lowest CF shafts...hands down. Idk what is up with their marketing or mb it is the Viking Quick Release that steers people away but Viking is THE OLDEST AMERICAN cue company still running...that's saying something

    How does this compare to the go custom carbon fiber shaft? I also heard hsunami has come out with a 2.0 version. What are your thoughts

    • @PoolAddiction
      @PoolAddiction  Год назад

      I like the Hsunami more than the Go. They did come out a 2.0 which I also just received and I think plays better than the 1.0. The pros to a carbon fiber shaft is the durability, is smooth in the bridge hand, and the low deflection. The keilwood shafts, in my opinion, has low deflection on par with carbon fiber but it still has the feel and feedback of wood which I do like. The drawbacks would be the durability (better than a regular maple shaft) and it’s not as smooth as carbon fiber. Don’t get me wrong I love carbon fiber shafts, however, I like the keilwood better and the Hsunami is arguably the best one out there. Thanks for watching!

  • @MyMojoGo
    @MyMojoGo Год назад +1

    I would think that, with the process of removing the sugars and moisture out of the wood, it would lose a little weight and you would maybe want it an inch or so longer anyway. 30 inch would be just about perfect anyway.

    • @PoolAddiction
      @PoolAddiction  Год назад +1

      I would think so too. It is a 30" vs a 29" so that accounts for some of the weight but still. I really bought it for the 30" for the slightly more reach. I don't really notice a major change in the balance of the cue either. I think I am going to get most of my shafts from now on in 30" because it feels better to me. Thanks for the comment and watching!

      So sorry my friend. I have been really busy with work and all. I think you're going to like the Cynergy just fine. It plays well and you get the benefits of a CF shaft. It also is a good transition CF shaft from wood since it feels and plays similar to a wood shaft. I know you were wondering about the Hsunami shaft. I think the difference between them is minimal. Even though I prefer my Hsunami nowadays, based off of what you're looking for I think you made a good choice for you. I'm excited to know what you think of it. I was thinking of trying to get my hands on a Ghost Edition Cuetec Cynergy cue sometime for a review...we will have to see.

  • @nyquil07na38
    @nyquil07na38 2 года назад

    I am surprised at the lack of 30 inch offerings for butts and shafts. Manufacturers make them obviously, but they are generally harder to come by. I don't consider myself super tall either at 6'1. The extra length makes a big difference on my 9ft table. The trade off with the longer shafts I found is they can be whippy. Sounds like that was not the case with this shaft. Price isn't bad for a custom build. I like the way this got shipped also may have to snag one of these.
    Side note not sure if have tried the Taom V10 chalk out. I thought people that bought high-end chalk were nuts, but I read how clean everyone says it is so I snagged some. Man, this stuff is clean. I don't have to vacuum near as often and my cue ball stays clean rack after rack. No skids. Very impressed.

    • @PoolAddiction
      @PoolAddiction  2 года назад

      I haven't experienced the shaft being whippy for sure. My OB Classic has probably been the most whippy shaft I have ever played with to date. Richard does an excellent job with his customer service. I have never had someone so focused on you as a customer. I have seen taller players play with a balance rite shaft extender a lot and I don't know why they don't just get a 60-inch cue instead. The biggest reason is probably what you referred to which is not many manufacturers make a production 60-inch cue. In my opinion, they should. I have not tried the V10 chalk yet. I plan to some time, just haven't had the chance yet. I wasn't too amazed by Pyro chalk when I first tried it but I decided to give it a try again and I am glad I did. I have heard nothing but good things about the V10. Thanks for the comment and insight. It's always nice to have these discussions.

      I like the taper more on the Hsunami but the hit and feedback is also better IMO. It’s been a while since I played with a Z2 (like 10 years) but I feel the Hsunami is a lower deflection. IMO kielwoods play similar to CF shafts when it comes to hit characteristics, still not completely like CF though, the wood hit feel/feedback is still there. I have not tried a Jacoby. I know people that have them and they like it but I feel Hsunami is the best kielwood shaft out there. They aren’t the first to do it but Richard Hsu does an amazing job and he is one of nicest, coolest guys I’ve worked with in the industry.

    I had one question. One thing I love about CF shafts is the fact that they don't pick up dings and dents. Seems no matter how careful I am I pick up some dings in a wood shaft.
    How susceptible is the kielwood shaft to picking up dings?

    • @PoolAddiction
      @PoolAddiction  2 года назад

      I hear when it comes to dings in a wood shaft and carbon fiber shafts will always be the better option when it comes to wear and tear in a poolhall. Carbon fiber shafts can still get damaged in a poollhall environment but it's much less llikely than a normal wood shaft. Kielwood shafts are still susceptible to dings like any other wood shaft, however, they are more resilient than a normal wood shaft due to the drying process of the wood so I'd say kielwood would be in between the carbon fiber and regular wood shafts. I am glad you liked the video and I can't wait for you to check out part 2!

    There is no such thing as kielwood. These shafts are simply maple that has been baked in ovens. And they also come with a finish, which is completely unnecessary, as roasted maple is completely dry and will likely never warp because it cannot hold moisture after being baked. Also would have been nice to hear how the shaft hit 5he balls without the music.

      @PoolAddiction  2 года назад

      Hi, sorry I haven't replied sooner. When you are saying vibration, are you talking about the vibration test where I tap the tip on the table to see how much it vibrates or when your are hitting the ball? As far as tapping on the table I would say the Becue has the most vibration but when hitting they all hit with little to no vibration. It's hard to say but I guess the most vibration when hitting, I guess would be the Go but like I said, the vibration on all of the shafts I tested hit with an incredibly minimal amount of vibration. As far as the most feedback of all the shafts I have tried so far I would say is a tie between the Go and Cynergy on normal shots but the Becue with firmly-hit shots. However, all of the CF shafts I have tried so far have a minimal amount of feedback as well. This is my opinion and I really feel like I am splitting hairs when comparing these shafts when it comes to vibration and feedback. I still have yet to really test the Hsunami and we will see what the in-depth testing shows. Thanks for the comment!

I give the Zan hybrid a try again or even a Grip hard. I would like to get into tip reviews sometime but I haven't gotten around to it yet. Thanks for watching the video!

      @@PoolAddiction what are your favorite tips?

    • @PoolAddiction
      @PoolAddiction  Год назад

      I am currently am trying out Thoroughbred and they are not bad. I have played with Kamui Black Softs for years and the last couple of years I have trying different tip to see what else is out there. I'd say my favorites as of now, in no particular order, is Kamui Black, Thoroughbred, Wizard, and Moori. I do like How's as well even though the one had mushrooming problems. I am still out to lunch on the Zan's and I still plan on giving them another try, not the Premium soft though it's too soft. As far as break tips go, I am a huge Taom fan.

      @@PoolAddiction nice! I like the Kamui, Moori, and Taom tips as well. I haven't tried thoroughbred, wizard, or how tips yet.

      Sorry, you didn't like the music but glad you liked the the rest of the video though. I try to change up the music here and there but I do lean towards metal.

    Would have been nice to hear the hit instead of the music. Other than that good video.

      Thanks!. Even though I use music when I am shooting B-Roll I will always add hits with sound. For this review, I didn't put in part one but it is in part 2 at the 6:15 mark. Thanks for watching!

      I understand not everyone likes the music. It’s just something I do. There will be the sound of playing and the hits in the next video. I usually do a part in the video dedicated to that with a mic above the table. Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching!

    100% agree with your assessment of the Hsunami shaft being the best. I own two and don't ever plan to play with anything else.
    I disagree on the tip though. I have had great performance using a SS Precision Layered tip.
    Looking forward to the second part of the review.

      Hey Mark, Kevin is not wrong about the HOW tip, they do mushroom quite a bit. If you can get through the mushrooming stage, then the tip performs very well. Precision tips are one of my favorite tip, they’re one of the better tips out on the market today

      Thanks for the feedback. Richard and I were talking about it and I might try another tip soon. The HOW tip holds chalk and has great grip even though it mushroomed on me. I’m going to try to knock out the light as soon as I can and then roll into the part filming right after so stay tuned.
