    When a group of cannibal savages kidnaps settlers from the small town of Bright Hope, an unlikely team of gunslingers, led by Sheriff Franklin Hunt (Kurt Russell), sets out to bring them home. But their enemy is more ruthless than anyone could have imagined, putting their mission - and survival itself - in serious jeopardy.
    BONE TOMAHAWK is a gritty, unpredictable, action-packed Western chronicling a terrifying rescue mission. The directorial debut of acclaimed author S.Craig Zahler, who also wrote the screenplay, it features an all-star cast including Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight, Tombstone), Patrick Wilson (Insidious, Fargo Season 2), Matthew Fox (Lost, Emperor) and Emmy award-winner Richard Jenkins (The Visitor, Olive Kitteridge).

But I think Zahler would be the perfect director to adapt it if it ever does get made; his films are all very brutally violent but not in a way that’s just for shock value, and he seems to love writing Western pieces too. • @DiamorphineDeath
      @DiamorphineDeath 5 лет назад

      @@thebananaman5632 Why bother doing anything? Relativism is not reality. One can criticize and point towards what brought someone to their opinion, or the lack of information, or education specifically that brought that opinion out. I'm putting towards what went into this statement as the criticizing point. One can say "McDonalds is my favorite food hands down and always will be," and this is a subjective opinion that is just that...there's no reason to argue or point towards it as it is anyone's right to pick their favorite of anything, regardless. But when someone says "the new McDonalds hamburger is the greatest food that has ever been made, in the history of cuisine," then you're dealing with someone either ill informed, or nuts as they're making a grand claim outside of what would be reasonable taste and objective standards. The Searchers as far as westerns goes acts as a transcendent piece of artwork. Bone Tomahawk does not, while a good film, it does not transcend as it was not meant to, therefor to voice it as being on the same level, or above great works is offensive to great art itself. I would wager this individual found this film to be "super awesome" due to the violence scene specifically and is easily entertained.

      Idk, he was probably trying to push the boundaries and he did. Also, torture like that has been done historically in I think Japan and even in a lot of tribes. It was a bit gratuitous though, I won't lie. You should watch Brawl in Cell Block 99, it's by the same director. It's pretty clear that he likes grindhouse style films and goes for that style.

      @@MrCholoPants3415 I actually have seen brawl in cell block 99, although I did not know it was by the same director until you told me, haha. There was definitely some gratuitous and over the top violence in that movie, but it had almost a comical element to it. It was so over the top that it didn't really bother me. But the scene in Bone Tomahawk looked so realistic that it really shook me to the core.

    • @MrCholoPants3415
      @MrCholoPants3415 6 лет назад +1

      Yeah! Cell Block 99 was more grindhouse than Bone Tomahawk, I agree. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the constant tonal shift... It looked like they were trying to go for realism most of the film, and then every single act of violence and gore was over the top at the end. As far as Bone Tomahawk, yeah... That scene was the most shocking thing I've ever watched in any film; it might just be the most shocking scene ever tbh, and I don't even think that's an exaggeration. I'm normally not squeamish AT ALL, but I flinched during that entire scene.
      *SPOILERS IF ANYONE READS WITHOUT SEEING CELL BLOCK 99*
      My biggest issue was Vince Vaughn's death at the end... His head was CLEARLY a manikin at that final scene and it really kinda diminished my overall opinion in just that 1 second shot. All they had to do was use the realistic gunshot he took to the chest when the camera was pointed behind him, and cut to the credits right there; it looked great! But they deliberately tried to show that ridiculously cheesy and fake head exploding. Like... You could see the wood in the manikin lol, it was soooo fucking forced. But I still love that film. This director is coming out with another crime-related thriller with Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Carpenter this year or beginning of 2019!!! I'm fucking stoked for it. I loved everything he's made so far, and both of the films we've mentioned have been under a 2-3 million dollar budget... It's nuts.

    Cannot recommend this movie enough. Matthew Fox is so underrated, but the whole case knocks it WAY out of the park. This is movie was a cut above just about everything released since 2015.

    I watched it last night for the first time. Its posters and trailers promoted it as a "Western"; not a "horor Western". As for the movie itself, I loved the dialogue, acting, music, and cinematography , however, the scene in which a man was split in half, scarred my mind forever. I know the writer wanted to show the inhumanity and barbarism of the people who did it, but c'mon, it went beyond what was necessary in the way that scene was filmed. Maybe it's just that I'm not entertained by gruesome, sadistic, gore and torture which that scene had in spades.

    This film is fucking fantastic. It's a Western Meets Hills Have Eyes-esque horror thriller. And my god.. the makeup. Gore done right.

    Honestly this movie was such a wonderful surprise. I knew nothing about it before hand, likely due to the small budget it doesn't sound like they had much to work with. It ended up being a good thing. Seeing it all as one movie without interruption or expectation was amazing. Nothing in the movie was boring or just goofy or strange. It just all unfolds as it should and makes sense. Other than the bones in the throats for whistles as a communication tool for the Indians. That part didn't need to be there. The whistle thing sure, but the gory aspect of it. Not needed. Just my opinion. The rest of the movie was perfection. Every actor was cast perfectly. It's a timeless western done correctly. This director should make at least 5 more westerns.
