I think they tried to reboot it and even filmed some episodes, but they never made it on air. Edit: I read it never got past trying to sort out the cast, but it was in the works up until then.

Now while a show can continue when people don't like it, eventually if enough of those people change the channel, because they don't like it, then the show gets cancelled. Also back in the 90's it was whatever was on tv, is what you can watch, Most people don't even watch tv any more. Why, when you can get what you want, when you want it, at a more consistent basis then at traditional tv show.

I remember watching the American Music awards and hearing Milli Vanilli give an exceptance speech after winning an award. I was only 7 years old at the time, but I remember recognizing that something wasn't quite right about the way they spoke vs the way they sang. Of course, now we all know why there was such a huge contrast.
Same here. I was 8 at the time and I remember my mom had a Milli Vanili cassette tape. I too remember that thick German accent and being confused but at 8, I just dismissed it.
What's funny is music is so bad in this day and age with the robot autotune/voicebox crap they do now I'd rather take what they were doing back then compared to what we got now.
I was in my 20s back then and to be honest, the hype about the lip syncing was more damaging than the actual lip syncing. Milli Vanilli could sing! We would have been just as cool to hear their new album. No one had to die😞

And the problem is that they couldn’t sing anywhere near the people they were lip syncing and bc this country has a history of stealing from black artists, it was a big slap in the face to the black community. Just like C and C music factory. We knew about their lip syncing before it got on In Living Color. They were trying to continue using the lip sync instead of admitting they were wrong. The moral of the story is to do to others what you would want them to do to you. I hated how the one member’s life ended. I loved this group. They just didn’t make the right choice. And based on the Fab’s interview with Vlad, it looks like he’s still not taking responsibility for what they did. And that’s sad. And I was ready to hear them use their own voices also but the bar was set too high at that point.
He didn't say because of In Living Color they had to give the Grammy back, he said... they are getting close... meaning they may be on to them that they were lipsyncing.
Loved Tommy Davidson’s take on the importance of people being able to laugh together at each other WITH each other. Creates unity more than everyone having their own corners to go to and make fun of others
Living Color had nothing to do with Milli Vanilli coming out of the lip syncing closet, it's when there producer frank farian blew the whistle when they demanded more money, or possibly wouldn't record the second album in which they had a contract for. Living Color had a reputation of making fun of people but no one's demise came from any of there jokes and if anything it most likely increased and artist's popularity.

Unfortunately, John Davis passed away a couple of years ago.

Personally we need to bring this kind of humor back. I think in the days starting in the late sixties right through the nineties comedians recognized the issues and problems and they were willing to poke fun at our insecurities even about things that are not considered sensitive or untouchable. In Living Color did this all the time, pointing out the insecurities and making fun of them. We need to start making fun of these insecurities or else humor is going to die an unnatural death.

Not a lot is said about in living color's affect on the individuals they've joked on. They've done more damage than ppl realize. Shabba Ranks never recovered after ILC's skit. Loved the show but I couldn't rock with that aspect of it.

Personally we need to bring this kind of humor back. I think in the days starting in the late sixties right through the nineties comedians recognized the issues and problems and they were willing to poke fun at our insecurities even about things that are not considered sensitive or untouchable. In Living Color did this all the time, pointing out the insecurities and making fun of them. We need to start making fun of these insecurities or else humor is going to die an unnatural death.

Not a lot is said about in living color's affect on the individuals they've joked on. They've done more damage than ppl realize. Shabba Ranks never recovered after ILC's skit. Loved the show but I couldn't rock with that aspect of it.
