In a unnamed high fantasy setting, humans and other sentient races have set their eyes on the New World, a separate continent from the populated Old World. The New World is an untamed wilderness where many power monsters roam, and researchers have been drawn to study these creatures and their habitat. Several ocean-bound Fleets have been sent already to establish working bases, safe from monsters, and operations are led by the Research Commission.
The Hunter along with his assistant the Handler are part of the Fifth Fleet, which has been summoned by the Research Commission to provide more support on the New World. As they near the New World, the gigantic monster, Zorah Magdaros, appears and devastates the ships and tears a path through the New World, however, most including the Hunter and Handler make it safely to shore and to Astera, the main base for the Research Commission there. Once acclamated, the Commission's Commander tells the Fifth Fleet that they are curious as to why the Zorah Magdaros has been drawn to the New World, an event they know that happens every ten years, and gives the Hunters orders to help them set up various camps in new areas revealed by the Zorah Magdaros' passing, clearing out any hostile monsters they may find.

Beautiful World filled with magnificent creatures and full of life, if only a place like that existed, this was a great game. If I had a button where these creatures would appear in our world I’d press it in a heartbeat. Can’t wait for the movie, pray to Godzilla that Tigrex is in it. It won’t be a monster Hunter movie without him

Story is good enough for a Monster Hunter game. No monster Hunter game has ever focused on cinematics and story before so I fully accept it. I've been enjoying the game a ton and honestly feel likes it's one of the best games ever made and hopes it is considered by critics as a masterpiece like Orarina of Time.
I have this game for the PS4-but watch out for Nergigante, one of the Elder Dragons. That sonofabitch killed my character so many times that I lost count.

@@chinothemeerkat3215 Update: sometime after I posted that comment, I've successfully killed him. You just have to watch his attack pattern-if he initiates the Divebomb with the black spikes, run like hell and hope that none of the spikes hit you. And use Elderseal weapons (Deviljho, Nergigante and a few others) to stun him and break the spikes while they are soft (white-colored).

i feel sad for the palico when it fell from the ship on the start and lost looking for its master but its good since they get reunited, palico's are not afraid to die in a hunt if they die they die im just sad for most of their role in the game :(

I don't think so. I found many problems with this channel. Video always broken, audio not sync in middle of the video, bad gameplay but trying hard to cover it up by cutting it out during editing. Although might look like a movie, so many important parts are not shown like documents, dialogues and just rushing through everything. In another words, collectables are ignored. I have watched many videos from this channel but still don't want to subscribe yet. You want cinematic or movie experience, watch SHN channel.

its a good game. for the time a person invests, they are well rewarded. the story campaign thing does not do justice to the scope of the locations you go, nor does it to the overall gameplay. it is a game designed for certain people though, not all will like it but i highly recommend it.
It's not a good story in the sense of human characters and plot. But the production value is there, and the ecosystems are all very intricate and interesting - very few other games or works of art at large attempt non-anthropocentric storytelling at all.

It hurts watching him hunt with the insect glaive. At least get your buffs from the extracts and then jump around to show the true forms of the insect glaive. Poorly played and took him an average 30 mins to kill a monster which could be done in like 10mins. Poorly played out for purpose of showing the cutscenes.

Thanks so much for this. There's so much going on at the beginning of the game that it can be a little overwhelming and hard to take in. On top of that, I played about 2 hours a while ago just to try the game before deciding to play some other titles first. Now that I've comes back to World, it's great to be able to watch the beginning part of the game again and take in all the details in this video.

from 1:59:20 to 2:24:51 Audio is badly messed up. can you fix it please? (dialogue Audio is messed up after 1:59:20 you almost can't hear any of dialogue after that which is VERY disappointing. at 2:20:09 all audio is messed up. at 2:24:44 all audio is delayed by a large margin. Pink Rathian is dead but the fight audio is still going on!!)
but after 2:24:52 all audio is fixed again and is OK.

i don't see the point in waiting for half a minute before passing the text every time they talk in between quests. you could have pressed the a button just as they finish the sentence to make it more fluid,. Instead of giving time to read the whole thing over again, adding a few more minutes and breaking the experience in my opinion.
Why are the humans hunting and killing the monsters? The monsters are part of the world and that they have these great sizes and powers that could be respected and admired by. Right? Then fighting against the creatures and hunting them is wrong.
It's been explain that monsters can cause environmental damage by over feeding if they go over the population. Hunters hunt monsters to control the population and keep the balance.

I have only played "Monster Hunter Tri", and for what I see of this game, Magdaros is like Lagiacrus (the main enemy of the game) and Xeno'jiiva like Ceadeus (the real threat). So... Have all the Monster Hunter™ games this same plot?
Yeah, for example in 4Ultimate, the main enemy of that game was Gore Magala, a juvenile Elder Dragon. The final enemy ended up being its adult form, Shagaru Magala.

Looks good so far but what's with all the mute or apparently telepathic main characters, where everyone else talks? Is there a demographic I'm not aware of? (The Metro 2033 series is the most recent one I've seen that did this.)
It happens a lot in Japanese games. They save money on dubs by only voicing the important stuff.

I cant stand how half the time they take 2 hours to hit the next button in a conversation and the other half in the blink of an eye. I'd appreciate a middle ground so people who are slower to read can get through, but not take forever. If that seems like too much... At least hit next when the voice acting has passed the subtitles.
I dont' understand why there are no voices sometimes. Like they've just gone voiceless even with the lips moving. But for the hero, he looks like he can't speak at all. Is that part of the story, that he's a mute?

- she likes to eat ... like A LOT (looks like most of this whole hunting thing is necessary just to feed her)
- she likes to be Captain Obvious ("don't fight without a weapon" - yeah, no shit, Sherlock: fighting a giant-ass monster without a weapon is a bad idea)
- she likes to get in trouble and drag the protoganist in trouble with by being reckless
