Egypt SCAMS but SAFE ?

  • Hello and welcome back to our channel! Today we're going to be reacting to two videos about safety in Egypt. The first video, • Egypt SCAMS and INSANI... made by a popular creator, has a very alarming title and thumbnail, suggesting that Egypt is an ultra-dangerous place to travel. On the other hand, the second video, 👍 • How many times my phon... made by a different creator, shows him walking around poor areas of Egypt with his phone practically falling out of his pants, trying to see if anyone would snatch it. In the end, nobody stole his phone, leading him to suggest that Egypt is a safe place to visit.
Now, we all know that opinions can be contradictory , and it can be difficult to discern what the truth really is. So, let's start by addressing what we like and don't like about the first video. First and foremost, we do not deny that there are many scams in tourism in Egypt. In fact, we have plenty of videos on this channel about how to avoid scams in Egypt, how to visit the pyramids without rip offs etc. So, it's clear that the country has room for improvement in this area.
However, what we don't like about the first video is that the negativity is overblown for pure clickbait. If you just read the title and the thumbnail, you'd be too scared to even consider traveling to Egypt. But, in reality, there are many countries with higher crime rates than Egypt, such as Mexico and Brazil, and even the United States.
If we're talking about physical security or theft, Egypt is much safer than the metro in cities like Rome or Paris. Of course, it's always important to exercise caution and use common sense when traveling, but let's not perpetuate the idea that Egypt is an ultra-dangerous place.
Now, let's move on to the second video. While we appreciate the creator's attempt to show that Egypt is safe, we have to acknowledge that his experiment was not scientifically sound. Walking around with a phone hanging out of your pants is not a great way to gauge the safety of a place. It's also important to remember that just because nothing happened to him on that particular day, doesn't mean that it couldn't happen to someone else in a different situation.
We believe that it's important to be honest about the challenges and dangers of traveling to any destination, including Egypt. However, we also believe that it's important to keep things in perspective and not exaggerate or sensationalize the risks. As with any travel destination, it's essential to do your research, exercise caution, and be aware of your surroundings. Thank you for watching, and we'll see you in the next video!

I visited Sharm and I can say I never felt unsafe, however you must be aware of all Egyptian giving you tourist prices everywhere you go so that is a hustle and waste of time to try to get at least close to the normal price of things.

I agree the first video and others like it are sensational click bait nonsense and really does a disservice to Egypt. There are scams but it's very different to the threat of physical violence, which is felt in many European cities. You've said it very clearly!

I totally agree with you. Here in Luxor, scammers eveywhere. They are looking to make a living , but dont always go about it the right way.
Ive been living in Egypt 20+ years. Never felt unsafe, they have tried to scam me of course, you just need to be 2 steps ahead of them 😉
Im originally from London, UK, thats where you need to worry about knife crime, pickpocketing and gun crime!!

I'm a American considering Egypt. I know the maximum stay for Visas but, how do you stay 20+ years? Did you get duel citizenship?

@Clintm77 When I first came, I was on a working visa (I worked as a teacher). I then met and married an Egyptian after a few years, and I now have a marriage visa. I don't have dual citizenship, but it is an option if I wish to do so.

I think it would've been nice to add links to some of the videos you have made about the subject, that way people can see how you've tackled the subject. Still, good work Omar!

Scams can happen ANYWHERE. I'm from the US and I have been to Las Vegas many times. If you go on the strip (the main strip of casinos) or Fremont (the "old" strip).... there's tons of scammers. Don't even have to leave my country to get scammed. Yes it might not be as common... but it still can happen anywhere.

The worst thing about Egypt is the Shop Keepers, drive you crazy trying to get you in their shops, every shop you walk past, never leave you alone, and they make the prices up as they go along. If you haven't been before it can put you off big time, the last time I went it drove me crazy

Hi...love the channel. I am off to Sharm on Sunday. I'm stopping at the Il Mercato Hotel and Spa. Do you know if this is a good choice...I know it's off the beach but there is a free hotel shuttle to the beaches. I hope this is good
Also, is it expensive to eat and drink in the local Sharm bars? I am all inclusive at the hotel, but want to get out and enjoy the local bars and restaurants...but having paid all inclusive, I am on a budget.
