Walking in Cairo (Egypt)

Cairo is the capital city of Egypt. The city's metropolitan area is the largest in the Middle East and the Arab world, and the 15th-largest in the world, and is associated with ancient Egypt, as the famous Giza pyramid complex and the ancient city of Memphis are located in its geographical area. Located near the Nile Delta, modern Cairo was founded in 969 CE
WHY IS EVERYBODY BLARING THEIR HORNS
no chill bro
It's called the Egyptian brake pedal. If something is in your way, you don't hit the brakes, you toot the horn.
horns are also used in minor crossroads to indicate that they are coming so that the other cars wait for them to pass rather than stopping and looking and this helps in controling the population
😂

Made me homesick, I miss the noise, the dirt, the crowds, the chaos. I wish I was there right now. This is the best youtube video that I have ever seen..
Neal bekheet saliyb how can you miss the dirt?!
@@CreepyRecordings absolutely yes
I love Egypt, and I've never been anywhere close to it. Its history is so epic.
You miss that shithole????
REAL Cairo.. If one is disabled, getting about in wheel chair, your screwed!! I have had the distinct pleasure of greeting poles, carts and concrete blocks Cairo is crazy, however I love the energy and kind welcome from Egyptians. Peace & love be upon Egypt.
Cairo is my favorite city in the world and Egyptians are the nicest people you will find anywhere. I've been to Egypt 5 times and I will return, it's an incredible place.

About 12 years after the publication of this video, I think that Egypt has developed a lot over the past years, despite the presence of slums and overcrowding until now, but excuse them because they are 120 million people, so I always wish the best for Egypt
I think if i ever visit egypt i will have the biggest headache of those horns.
nebras toma you get used to it.
I was in egypt last summer, If you believe it or not it was the best holiday of my life and I was in Austria and in Italy and algeria. Just dont go to cairo expect you wanna visit pyramides but you have to see the beach in sharmel sheih

This is fabulous how you've done this, you really get a pedestrians eye view of Cairo I can almost smell it from here in Manchester. I've longed to go to Egypt for many years and after seeing this I know I have to go.
Egypt logic: There is a sidewalk, therefore I must walk next to it.
You could easily expand the sidewalks and still have one line for honking cars and one for parking
lol
They eat well over there. Lots of heavy people.
Lol.
@@mrazcr000 they eat a lot of sweets. Small pieces of pastries loaded with sugar. I was there in December three months ago. So many heavy people and men with big bellies.
Thanks for sharing this video. We all love Egypt and great respect for egyptian people.

it seems as I walk in Lahore or Karachi in Pakistan,
Right! Some places seems like Karachi while others Lahore :)
Very different to Lahore or Karachi. In Cairo there are not homeless nor people dying on the street
Nope I don't see people dying from bomb blasts and gunfire
Definitely not like Lahore or karachi
Yes, and you don't see any women on the streets either.

Wonderful Cairo they called mother of the world love from Somalia 🇸🇴
They could expand the sidewalks and issue fines to businesses blocking them. Also honking could be discouraged to reduce noise pollution. If unnecessary honking persists then make it mandatory to remove it from vehicles. Sometimes I feel logic is in short supply in many developing countries.
They could, but why they should? They think it is normal. It is not a socialistic country. Everybody minds their own benefit, from shop owners to the authorities. Why investing in sidewalks and pavements if this does not pay out.
Egypt is in my heart as my love belongs to this beautiful country....
he is my life...my soul...my breath...my everything
I love him sooooo much....long live Egypt...lots of love from India🇪🇬🇪🇬🇪🇬🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
Seems common there that people walk on the side of the road instead of on the pavement for some reason, even when clearly there's a pavement to walk on.
Nice video. Thanks for sharing!
Because there will be many things to block the way on the pavement so for continuous walk they walk on the road instead of going up and down the pavement
Needs more trees. Hitting it with a power washer would help too. I'd like to visit.
..and that's a long walk--seemed safe!..nice video thanks..GODBLESS!!!
I used to also get annoyed about the fact that the pavements will all of a sudden, stop or there'll be a pile of sand in the way, or a stall of some kind etc but have a good look down a side street and you will often find amazing buildings and peace & quiet (yes, I know it's hard to believe!). Garden city near Tahir is a great example. Some of the best 'Ahwa's' (coffee/tea places) that I've found in Cairo have been tucked away down a side alley. Or sit under a tree in the shade. Even if it's in between the tram lines (like in Heliopolis). You need to have a certain mentality to survive Cairo, especially in the summer when it's 50c and with all the fumes and people, but once you get to know the area and where to go for some peace and to cool down, there is, in my mind, nowhere as fanstastic as Cairo.
Love this city, love this country!
Giuliana Scorza ur welcome any time

I was born and lived in Cairo for 24 years. I cannot focus what part of Cairo is this. Thank you for the wonderful film that reminds me of my youth.

April 11th, 2013
My first day in Egypt in fall season November 1978, one hour after the airport I got shocked of the pollution, traffic harm, noise and the crowdy street. I decided to go back and leave next few days for Somalia, however, I finished my university studies until 1983.
Reminds me of places in New York City, away from tourist areas, of course. There are places in Los Angeles that are similar except for all of the traffic horns.
Very Clean country
T ft4
When in Cairo, I could not believe how fast the traffic flowed with almost no one paying attention to the traffic lanes. Crossing the street was almost suicide. Doesn't look too bad in this video. Nothing like traveling in the MiddleEast, I loved it.

since you are so child minded please do not respond to any of my post, if you cannot act like a mature person in mind and sprit. Thanks
I think it's just because there is so much going on. In NYC you'll see stuff like this too, I saw a guy skateboarding in the middle of the road in the lower east side. He had cars and trucks driving on both sides of him. Terrifying! Ignore the rude guy. He's an idiot. He's just spouting pointless hatred.

Egyptian : why there're no enough loud horns ?! What a quite street !!
WOW! I thought in Cairo the whole city had many pretty good things, because in ancient days, there used to be many of the pharaohs and it used to be a well precented city. Nowadays it just look just as any other city from any other continent, actually, it reminded me a city from Mexico. looking at the highways and the buildings around ,but then looking at the people and the way they speak it reminded me that it is a city from another continent!
México está mucho más cuidado y eso que no lo está tanto
I miss cairo :,( wanna get back asap insha allah ♡
Doesn't look SO much different than southern Europe, in some way (I'm Italian). I love seeing all of those small shops. I hope that Egypt will hold against the mega-corporations as much as possible.
P.S.: Egyptians are honking fanatics! :-D So much noise!
It looks MUCH different, what are you talking about? Thats shithole and Europe is modern.
That looks more like India. Enough sarcasm, it's not working.
Well I've been to Greece, and it looks quite similar to Egypt, especially to Alexandria. Italy and Spain for instance were completely different, but I've only been in the North of Italy (Milan, Florence) so idk. It does also look quite similar to India.
In which case northern Europe wins. We look nothing like this.
I love cairo
Hmm, interesting. I enjoyed the walkthrough. It looks like a pretty rough area, I must say. But I grew up in pretty tough neighborhood and, oddly, this walkthrough brings back memories of my youth. Walking the streets, identifying the street toughs, keeping to yourself and watching your back. But, as a kid, it was kind of exciting. As a youth, you're always looking for adventure and confrontation.
Am 2 years in Egypt now and im in love with this country.. used to the horns already though😍

Max yeah Italy will get its turn also, fist rebuond form the latest travel
ahaha, i can see that your writing is still afflicted by jet lag xD
In spanish please! Congratulations by you vídeo
I lived there for a whole summer, in Abi Taleb street. Awesome place, and beautiful, in its own way.
Yes, the horn playing is real (to communicate between drivers, instead of using the car lights. It's mostly done like this in third world countries). Also, it's most common to walk in the side of the road, instead of on the sidewalk. And crossing streets is the most frightening thing at first (the cars) but then it becomes very fun after a couple of weeks.
Peace
i miss Cairo. Egyptians tend to be a little greedy but you can haggle down the prices

A wonderful walk to CAIRO. Very beautiful ! ;)
I like that you show the real place not just the travel destination glitz.
they use horn all the time...
+nomedeusuariobr yea in Egypt its used as a communication tool, just like indicators are in other countries.
Of course the have to use their horn all the time....with vendors sitting in the sidewalk and pedestrians walking almost in the middle of the street I'll be doing the same all the time too.
Probably to let other drivers know they are in their blind spots. Which is also a friendly indicator, some of these cars are a pain to see out of.
Jason Eric Thanks??? What is the matter to be dark-skinned?
nomedeusuariobr he's an afro centric. Their purpose in their life is to try and somehow prove that the ancient Egyptians were black Africans so they can claim that they have some history, and that we modern Egyptians are not related and are just occupants of this land. However, what he's saying is not true at all. Egyptians depicted themselves in paintings and engravings as having lighter skin than all Africans except for the inhabitants of lybians and and the rest of north Africa. They infact delict Greek and egyptian skin alike. If we look at the examples of queen Nefertiti, Cleopatra, or even Tutankhamen, they were all bronze skin like modern Egyptians. Paintings are however not reliable sources of evidence. Genetic analysis has proven their arguments wrong. Yet I say, believe what make you happy. I could care less.
Very nice place i wish i was there but i will come one day :)
Love my country egypt
