Really excellent work, at the beginning of the 90's I started a business re-finishing vintage furniture, by the end of the 90's I was also teaching it, I just thought I should mention, all paints and varnishes pre 1980 contained lead, if you are not wearing a really good quality mask, you will inhale the lead particles, and they are very dangerous, I had my business at least 4 years before I found this out, by the end of the 90's I was very ill, and I think inhaling those lead particles was one of the most likely causes. I can see Raphael wears a good quality mask, but I thought I should mention this anyway, in case anyone seeing the channel decides to give it a go.
That’s very considerate and worth knowing. Thank you. I’m starting out in Interior Design and creating and restoration are going to be a big part of what I do. I hope it didn’t have lasting consequences :-)
This is the gold standard for how videos should be done. LOTS of close-ups, showed us most of the materials you used for each step and it was the perfect rate of speed. You taught me things without ever having to say a word. 🙌🏻🤐. Keep up the good work!!!!!
Initial state: how I would "renovate" the piece with a simple lick of paint Final product: way more intricate and custom than the original design So cool!
How do you not have more subscribers? I definitely subscribed. I am also going to share this video on my Facebook so more people will see. Good luck to you!
You are an artist! The meticulous attention to detail gave such a high end result. I especially appreciated the care you gave the internal parts of the dresser and draws which most DIYers seem to neglect (it makes me sad when they do). Bravo Sir, bravo. 👏👏🙌
just wondering? why would you not make one long circular wood piece and prestain it and then slice it to have your uniform tiny pieces all ready to glue and stain? maybe you like the wood pieces taking stain at different shades and that is cool, too. overall, I learned so much from watching you , ty for sharing.
this is the first time i came across your video, the first thing i noticed? i saw a reflection of myself, not as of the talent, because i am not , but the tremendous attention to detail, organization, and perfection put in your job. love your work, you are a talented individual, keep it up raphael!
Listen pal... Its not very nice to just randomly appear on my suggestions and then make me immediately fall in love with every piece of furniture you make, it's mean!!
I honestly don't know what part to rave about first. The overall vision? The tenacious and meticulous prep? I cannot begin to imagine how many hours you must have spent on this re-imagining, but it's quite stupendous. Thank you for sharing it. Subscribed!
when i see the things you start with , it is so amazing what you finish with. some of your things make me think of leather, some of cloth, some are what they are , you are an artist.
Wow everyone’s a critic. I for one applaud your eye for detail consistency and you have a great eye for colour and design. For being self taught you’ve done better than most .👍
Wow, what talent. I would actually buy this piece - I love it. I certainly would not have the patience to cut all of those individual pieces of wood, I'd have given up after 5. I'm so glad you persevered and did every drawer, because the end article is fantastic.
Outstanding. That would look stunning in my wine cellar, combo laundromat, workout space. Of course, it’s all done in elegance. This isn’t your Mom & Pop basement. My sh*t is tuff! I want that chest!
A stunning piece and outstanding video production! Could've saved a bit of time by routing a length of 1x2 and then chopping the half-moons on a miter saw. Also, please consider covering as much bare skin as you can when spraying. Over time, toxins can get into your system through your pores and do serious damage. Thanks again!
Какая кропотливая работа! Комод получился замечательный! Но, для удобства,я бы сделала на ручках снизу небольшие углубления . Было бы удобнее выдвигать ящики. Спасибо за идею! Удачи!😊
I've had to say this a lot lately but here I go again. Seriously who loved the before so much that they couldn't appreciate the hard work that went into this. 70 Dislikes blows my mind. Obviously everybody has their own style and opinion. Either way great work went into this.
Another one!! So freakin FANTASTICALLY done Bud. The possibilities are endless with shapes. Anxiously looking forward to more videos. Hoping all is well Bud, Dirty Jersey out!!
You must be the most patient man on Earth. Only this level of patience could result in this level of creativity. You are a zen master of creative and beautiful furniture makeover. Words don't do it justice.
I'm so excited to have found your channel! Your videos are amazing! From the work you put into your pieces, the way the video is edited, to the final product, it's absolutely incredible! I've subscribed and I'm watching all your videos...twice!
Raphael, you are truly an artist. I wonder how long you thought about this amazing design before you actually began the 10 days of work that it took you? I wouldn't have been surprised if you had said it took you 10 months!
AAA-mazing!! Watching you transform those drawers I thought that I'd be super cool if you've used the shou sugi ban technique. But that's just my opinion that nobody askded. hahahhahaa (sorry for my bad english)
Stunning. Absolutely stunning! Questions for you: You create such a HUGE amount of sanding dust, how is it that your work space is so clean? And, is that vacuum cleaner industrial? Is it attached to a huge chamber? It would otherwise choke up a standard vac.
Not only are you a true Craftsmen but an Artist as well, and unbelievably patient and creative. Very impressive coming from the daughter of a Finished Trim Carpenter/Cabinet Maker and the granddaughter of a Furniture Refinisher. I loved your editing skills and the music too! Thank you for sharing your talent and putting a smile on my face as both my relatives have since passed on. The dresser turned out beautiful!
You are incredibly competent with the finishes you apply. How many years do you think you've been working with paints and clear coats? This is the part of any job that always fills me with much trepidation. I'm my own worst enemy. :) Beautiful work, sir.
One of the most beautiful furniture makeovers I've seen. I'll be rewatching with my dad :) he used to build custom furniture on the Soviet black market and he'll enjoy your work as much as I do. Good soundtrack too. Following.
i watch muckbangs here on youtube. i see food in your projects and i dont know why. this reminds me of challah bread and that other video remids me of chocolate. i saw candy in others based on the colors you choose. i ate dinner already so its not that im hungry.im binge watching this channel ans another restoration channel and im only seeing food in this one. after you finish these projects what happens to them? nice work.
The work that goes in technical I applaud and it’s amazing but you need to lay off the over tan. The varnish is always too dark. It would have been better if the patterned latticework have a varied of varnish finish, the handles could have been darker and the others a lighter shade. But great work. 👍🏿🇳🇬
I would love for the ending reveal to be 3 or 4 seconds longer so I can enjoy your beautiful work. Thanx
P
Lovely piece!
May I suggest that you show the finished product for a touch longer. Perhaps style it a bit so it’s full potential can be appreciated.
Thank you for kind comment and important advice 😊👍
It’s obvious that you are loving what you are doing!!!You will be an inspiration for others....definitely!
Glad you like it! 😊Thank you so much😊❤️😊

You are an artist! The meticulous attention to detail gave such a high end result. I especially appreciated the care you gave the internal parts of the dresser and draws which most DIYers seem to neglect (it makes me sad when they do). Bravo Sir, bravo. 👏👏🙌

I had to slow the playback speed because your video gave me headache and my eyes hurt, there was so much images to process and the music didn't help.
It’s an amazing transformation but I see a dust collector.

Thanks a lot Andrew!! 😁😁😁 Very time consuming process to be honest with you 😊 thank you for your time and great feedback 😉
What do you smoke or take for this kind of patience?
The best I’ve ever seen. You are the Artist.
Can i ask how long it took you from start to finish just out of curiosity? Its a really nice piece by the way thanks for sharing
Thank you for kind words 😊 It took me around 10 days😊
Bravo! That is very impressive artistry.
Stunning video. The filming really captured the beauty of each step. Almost as good as the woodworking. Almost... :)
I know, almost,... Still learning, still beginner 😊 thank you for your feedback Patricia 😊

Great work....but I don't like it....too many grooves/crevices to clean/dust.
Thanks for your feedback 😊

I knew you were going to hand make those half circles but I still wasn't ready for it. You love what you do and it shows. Fantastic.
I watched all the way through and saw the finished product for less than 5 seconds.
I just started my RUclips channel, still learning Anthony😊 Thank you for your advise 😊

You must hate Ikea.
Not only is your makeover incredible in craftsmanship and creativity, your video production is as well!
Thank you for kind words Connie😊😊
I found one of your videos, now I am having a binge fest to by up to date, loving your work
Stunning. Absolutely stunning!
Questions for you:
You create such a HUGE amount of sanding dust, how is it that your work space is so clean?
And, is that vacuum cleaner industrial?
Is it attached to a huge chamber? It would otherwise choke up a standard vac.
Just wondering, why did you choose to scrape off paint instead of using a paint stripper? Is paint stripping worse for the wood?
I never used paint stripper in my workshop, that's personal preference 😊 secondly, it was chalk paint on it😉
@@Madebyraphael then why not sand it?
Awesome! You should kept the handles it came with it would’ve been a good pop
Others do thrift store DIY, yours is pure art!
Glad you like it! 😊Thank you so much😊❤️😊
You really go the extra mile your furniture could be collectors items someday very unique.
