Great vid. I had my first ruck today with my 33L long range. Fits perfect on my frame (6'4" 260lbs). It will also be a great travel back for the plane. Plenty of organization pockets inside. I did move the sternum strap up one row and it is tight getting that thing off and on. Definitely recommend using a multitool for a grip
Use a hip belt? I'm 6'5", and have a 2.0 Rucker for events... Im too tall to attach a hip belt, and have it be useful... Will this make it better for me? Will it fit?!?!
@@jasonmallas739 I know the opinions as to a hip belt but for me it is more comfortable for me to carry the weight on my shoulders rather than move any of it to my hips. I do use the hip pad but like you I’m 6’4” and it cinches around my belly so I use it more for stabilizing when I’m shuffling
I just got the Rucker Long Range in 33 L. I love it. I use it as my EDC bag and toss my ruck plates in to train. I occasionally put my I pad (in a case) in the ruck plate pocket but that’s rare. To me not having the laptop compartment isn’t a deal breaker. I ordered my bag before the website was changed so GoRuck is supposed to send a hip belt but they’re back ordered til may or June. I’m not sure how often I’ll use it. Great video.
@@billlapsley8184 Thanks for the feedback. I need something to bring in and out of NYC as well as business travel on the train for 3-4 day trips. It is just my first ruck and I want to do all of it with this first one lol. Ruck + EDC + Travel. I know I'll have to compromise somewhere.
Thanks for the breakdown I had the 25L Rucker 4.0 in my cart, but it sold out unfortunately. Came across this and think it may actually be a better fit for my use case. Wanting to add the ruck plates to my extended hikes, so having the extra space in the front for gear and food is perfect. Size-wise I'm 6'6"/265 so the 39L might finally look like I'm wearing a proper sized pack 😂
@@JBOutside1 I just bought the 33L coyote. GORUCK needs to send you a commission. I wouldn’t have even known about this bag without your video. Massive price difference from GR2, which this seems to model without the laptop pocket. 👍🏻🎒
I wonder if I could easily use a seam ripper/cut out and remove the plate carrier from this… It would make a perfect cheaper GR2 for travel since I never use the laptop compartment, and want the bag to have side handles.
Thanks for the review. I have both sizes coming to see how it fits, me being 6 foot 245lbs. I am doing selection in October in Florida. Also doing 2 challenge events back to back to prep in September so this ruck will be my training tool.
NICE!! Yeah I think one of those will be perfect. Depends on your torso height and whether or not the 39L is too tall for everything. My bet is the 33L will be the winner. Let me know!

My wife got me the 26L GR2 for Father’s Day. Thank you for your videos in helping me make the decision. I’m thinking that if I get into the events maybe this would be a good option for me in 33L to have more capacity for travel when need but also be able to ruck at high weights. 🤔
Glad they helped! The 26L is very nice for a lot of things. The 33L Rucker definitely is a great way to do double duty and have a travel option too. The medium sized GR2 is my favorite

Just saw that the Rucker Long Range is on sale right now. You can't remove the plate holders so it might not be great for my Asia travel instead of a GR2 34L? If you could choose a bag for EDC around town? Rucker Long Range vs the Bullet Rucker Double Compartment Nylon? Both are on sale, about the same price. I do not Ruck.

Hi Eric, I’ve done a video comparing the pack out of the two larger sizes. Look for the “34L vs 40L” video. The Long Range Ruckers are identical except for the plate pocket and lack of laptop compartment
Either one probably. When you're comparing those two it will be more about the lumbar pad in your back. But you're tall enough that neither will ride low and cause problems.
Real head scratcher. Every study on the subject basically comes to the same conclusion, you shouldn't ruck with more than 50 pounds. After that point the negatives out weight the already marginal health benefits over a proper workout plan. At 75lbs you are actively destroying your spine and joint health. Especially if running.
My backpack broke and I read a wire cutter article. I travel for work a lot and truck around two laptops and an iPad Pro 12. I also pack other items to cut down on luggage. I want something durable. Do you think this would be right for me?
Maybe. But it wouldn’t be my first choice. For multiple laptops and iPads the GR2 would work better. For multiple tech there’s also other options that would work great too, like the Able Carry Max.
So I own a 20L Rucker and a GR1 26L - looking for a travel bag so thinking of this long range rucker. Right now I'm used to the single large pocket of GR1. What do you use the front compartment built in field pocket etc in the long range rucker/gr2 for? Would it fit sandals or something like that ? Thanks!
I’ve done several GR2 pack-out videos and I typically put a tech pouch or two in there. The LR Ruckers are a great option to increase your volume and retain the same feel on your back.
I'm looking at getting my first Rucker. I'm roughly 5.9, so looking at size suggestions, it seems like I'm right on the line for the 20l vs 25l. Then I saw this video and wondered if a 33L or a 39L would be a good fit. I'm looking at mostly using it to ruck in my area, but also have it double as a hiking backpack on family trips, which the extra room would be nice to carry water bottles, snacks, binoculars, etc for the kids (and still be able to have 20/30 lbs on the hikes. Any advice on going with the Long range vs original? And which dimensions for my height? Or would I be better off ordering two, trying them out with my torso and returning one?
Buy two maybe. For what you said I think the LR 33L might be a winner. I’m 5’9” too and I lean toward 20L for events but can make a 25L work in training.
