Indeed!! It's crazy to think that I have owned some of these Laptops for almost 20 years now!! I can still remember the day I drove to go and collect the T41. Doesn't seem like it was that long ago. Looking forward to our upcoming videos my friend, the world of Linux awaits me :)
That T and X machines actually an expensive machine so while I am working in the oil industries I get few of them, but when I am working at other industries we don't have these luxuries. I just add x201 as my collections, maybe will add another x series the slims and upgradeable one.
i have owned 2 thinkpads the t450 and the t480s and i got about 40 dollars to spend what thinkpad should i get i want something retro but still can run and do basic tasks i am thinking of trying to find an x230
@@darkkingmina4487 Hey, I’m not too sure with the dollars, but an x230 would seem like a great choice to me, that’s actually the one I am looking at getting next :)
@TechwithTonyUK r50 r30 t41 t43 t61 r52. Now t16 2 t14 yoga. They aren't the same build quality key boards as the older one. The drives aren't simply removable and interchangable now . The keyboards have less travel which is bad and good depending on your preference. At least they made the ram removable again on some models. But the days of the overhead "think light" and general quality is mostly gone. Also less lights (IBM has lights for everything lined across the bottom) and generally less a Cadillac feel. The older ThinkPads were more like a Cadillac approach. That's the difference I see. The think vantage system, overhead lights, deep throw keys and interchangeably was a Cadillac approach. But to build that same laptop now they'd ask 8k for it and not enough people would buy it or could afford to buy it. So it became more like other laptops. Not just IBM that changed couple of the other brands did away with this top tier approach as well. Which sadly, kind of made sense with the change and speed of the changes in technology. Why make something that good that will last 25 years when it'll be outdated and go to a scrap heap in 5 or 10 years. Unfortunate situation. The think pads back then weren't cheap. Inflation adjusted you'd be looking at 8k-12k machines. People now just wouldn't be willing to pay that. Partly why IBM sold the division. My thoughts. While I miss the Cadillacs most people (myself included) probably wouldn't be willing to shell out 10k for a laptop. Especially one that will be outdated in 5 years (even if it'll last 25 years). Those days are gone. A brand new think pad then made you feel like a king. Everything about it with the higher models. It wasn't just utilitarian it was somewhat a experience opening the box and seeing it. The new ones, all brands not so much. It's "just another laptop" now when you see a laptop. The color schemes as well the red think system tools. The off color single key on the keyboard. Really, all of it. Was something when you opened it, seemed kind of special.
