Thank you for all the interaction with the community, I have learned so much watching your videos. When you ran the 288 cam did you move to solid lifters? where did you go to get the solid lifters? how was the difficulty setting lash?
Hi there. The cylinder head is still hydraulic it's now a 298 cam, where it was a 288 cam. 298 is the biggest you can go on hydraulic. If you want to go bigger like 305 to 320 cam then you change to solid lifters. Thanks for you comment 👍
What did you do with the MaF sensor? Just remove comletely? Any need for tuning after that or just unplugged? Im thinking of changing my standard air filter to a similar bolt on option
Hi bud, your setup is damn good👍 ..we had more or less the same setup back then, cam was bigger and was stroked to 2.1. . Best bet is to go twin 40s,or 45s. We ran with 40s because we didn't have the funds for 45s then, the carbs is easy to setup if you know the carbs well, but dont give up...lot of potential there bud👌🏾😁good luck on the future mods lol👀😅
@@ritchiesridemk1vwbuild853 thank you for posting these videos and sharing your knowledge.i wanted to use a 32/36 with a 300 degree cam thought it wouldn't work
Ek ken jou frustrasie. Ek is besig met 'n 2001 mk4 VR6 24V 4MOTION. Hoekom het jy nie 'n ABF of VR6 ingesit nie? Is daaide die oorspronklike motor? Jou hele enjin setup klink al veels mooi. Daaidie 298 cam is nie goed in Gauteng se verkeer. Geluk & sterkte met jou bou. Groete van Auckland af. Lekker.
Hi there. It's a 1.8 polo block! Everybody is going vr6 and 1.8 20 valve ABF too. Would love to do that but funds right now is a problem but will get there. Thanks for your comment.
Looking good I also have carb motor

Were there any issues with the 288cam?
Hi there. No the 288 cam work very well with the weber carburetor set up. Just I wanted a bigger cam and that was the 298 cam.
Where did you buy the weber
And what modification did you have to do
Hi there. Ace motor sports look them up on the internet. They will help you out.
Just air and idle mixture runs perfectly now.
