    First, great to see you again at Blade! Second this is awesome as I have been looking to shoot moving targets. This will be a huge help.

    Very informative ... also you can always use the target speed timer in kestrel ..
    Great job Ray

    I shoot a lot of moving targets mostly at night. One thing I have learned, it is almost impossible to shoot in front of running wild hog. Especially with thermal because there is some lag. They are much easier to hit with real glass and white light. I just shoot them like I am wing shooting. Either the swing through or sustained lead. Luckily we usually get close but, once you pop off that first shot all hell brakes loose. Long range precision shooting is out of my league but, you explained it very well.

    I actually played along and timed this on first watch and hit 2.88 sec. I actually let out a loud "ohhh!" at my work desk. Lol Great video btw. We had to shoot a mover at Altus at 858 yds. Everyone was doing some calculating right before that stage. Moving stages are one of the only times I might actually dial wind as long as the wind or hold off is steady.

    Very clearly explained, Ray! Say, what did you mean when you said "Strelok is going away"? I have Strelok Pro and use it faithfully... will it just no longer have updates, or...is it being deleted entirely? Why?

      Because the Russians use it for their military or something like that. It is supposed to be removed from all Apple and Android app platforms.

    Excellent info Ray and thank you! First in with a potentially dumb question: Can mirage be used to estimate speed accurately enough to come up with a wind lead?

    • @XRING
      @XRING  Год назад +1

      Thanks SJohnson. With a LOT of practice and a good piece of glass you can absolutely use mirage to estimate wind calls. The key to doing this well is to focus on different mirage patterns going down range towards your target. For example, try to focus on the mirage at 200, 400, 600 etc and not just the mirage seen when focused on the target. 👍🏼. Great question.

    FYI... Strelok has this as well.

    If the mover is at a slight incline, I’m guessing you need to time both directions?
    Faster down hill, slower up hill.

    Seems weird to give a video tutorial about how to use a kestrel when you yourself don’t fully know how to use it. You can time it in the kestrel and save steps/complication. Feel sorry for the 8k people who’ve watched this and are gonna look dumb trying to use a stop watch in a match now.

    • @XRING
      @XRING  6 месяцев назад

      I’m fully aware on how to use the stop watch function on the Kestrel. So many people mount their Kestrels on their tripod table setups I think the easiest way is to just use your watch or phone for the timing.
      Maybe I should have added that to the video or you could do a tutorial on it. 👍🏼
