- KINGSLEY NORTH -
Kingsley North is a lapidary store in Michigan's U.P. They make a great cab machine and sell many other brands too. They have a huge selection rough rock, tumblers, grit, jewelry supplies etc. at good prices. I buy most of my coarse grit from here in 45 lb. bags. It's the best price I have found. If you buy using the following link, I make a small commission.

I buy a lot of lapidary supplies from The Rock Shed. I don't make money from your purchases there, but they have good prices and good service. This is where I buy my finer grits and polish.

I’m sure I’d die from the sheer joy of finding that beautiful beach coated with the most amazing rocks I’ve ever seen. I’ve never been that far north but I’m thinking I’m gonna try to find a way. Thank you so much for sharing the beauty of both water and rocks.
This whole area has really nice rocks. We took the road less traveled, but there are lots of beaches that are much easier to get to.
♥️🙏🙏🙏
Stop sharing secret spots...my favorite bakery doesn't need a waiting line.
Ok that was my favorite of this series. You guys caught some bangers. That beach was covered in rocks. Right on Rob. 😎
Just wait until next week. Next week's video was my favorite from this hunt.
several great lakers! thanks for taking us along. looking forward to your favorite next.
Beautiful rocks!
Oh how I wish I could go rock hunting with you guys! You are finding really cool rocks! I have always loved different rocks. So much so that when I was a kid My mother sewed my pockets closed becauseI forgot to take them out of my pocket before she put them in the washing machine.
You should have thrown some grit in your pockets with the rocks and maybe the washer would act as a giant tumbler.
@@MichiganRocks I think if I had done that, she never would have let me wear jeans again and I would have had to were dresses everywhere. I would really object to that I hated to wear dresses. You can't climb trees easily in a dress!
@@macdaiddavidson8051 I don't think I'd like to wear dresses either. Good thing you didn't take my advice!
@@MichiganRocks Well I don’t mind wearing dresses now that I am an adult. And I remember to empty my pockets when I do the wash now. I even remember to empty my son’s pockets though what I find is usually harmless to the washing machine. (By the way I am an actual woman, born and raised. I just enjoy a lot of things a lot of girls didn’t like when I was little!)
Wow♥️😊 what a beautiful beach.
The stones are all so interesting.
Sam definitely has an eye for those Agates.
Great job on polishing that beautiful stone.
You've got a new, longer and more descriptive name. I like it!
@@MichiganRocks yes, my children said I need to be more creative.
Hence the longer name, New intro for my videos, and my first real speaking part.
Did you see my video of me using the tile saw for the first time?
@@nicolagraynewzealandrockho8976 Nope, but I'll go look now. Speaking is important to keep me interested in a video. I haven't seen your intro, but I'm basically anti-intro. I guess that's why I don't have one. I like videos that get right into the action. I do like intros that are unique each time and give an overview of the setting for a video though.
Great video! Thanks!
You both found some really nice rocks. The agates were my favorite, and i really liked the polished one. Seeing it found, and then seeing it polished was super cool.😍🥰😇👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I've been trying to do more lapidary stuff like that within a beach video. I can't do it every time, but I will when I can.
That's awesome spot and you had a great trip. Everything was going right great rocks and wind to keep the bugs down.
I'll take wind over bugs anytime. It was the day before that we ran into all the flies, but no problems on this day.
* The small Agates that you both found are wonderful with such closely packed bands. Love them.. & the wind kept the Mosquitoes away.. Cold is better than Bitten..
The wind was definitely better than the flies.
I love rocks! My daddy got me interested in them. I love your channel!
great rocks - some of them look like candy! & the beach looks awesome
That was a really great hunt! Lots of beautiful rocks! The sounds of the wind and waves made me wish I was at the beach.
Absolutely gorgeous finds ! Sam seems to have a nag for agates he just picks em up like lollies ( candies ) 😄
The rock you polished Rob is stunning and I love it 🤩😍👍
Sam has a couple things going for him. First, he's younger and has better eyes. Second, he hunts the dry rocks where it's easier to spot agates. I hunt the water because all the other rocks look better which makes a better video. Third, I think he's just good at focusing on agates. Either way, Sam wins.
@@MichiganRocks I agree with the points you made completely , but I for one watch your videos because I want to see all the beautiful rocks you find and show us plus the information you give us and the areal views of the lakes and surrounding nature and beyond so in fact you’re still the master ! 💗 And he is the winner of agates 😃
@@easterazali9237 Yep, I'll do all of those things and Sam can fill in with the agates I miss.
@@MichiganRocks Very good idea ! 🥰😊👍
It looked like a fun day. You guys found some nice rocks. Lots of agates on that beach. I would love to see some of Sam’s tumbled rocks too. He has a great eye. It’s nice to see the rocks go from beach to polish. It polished up well. I’m always amazed about how empty the beaches always are.
I'll try to get Sam to do a Rocks in a Box episode or two for you.
@@MichiganRocks Thanks.
Beautiful finds, lots of interesting pieces. Best part about losing the agate competition is you've already got a reason to return for more haha! Great day, thanks for sharing :)
I was ok with not needing a reason too. Just being in the U.P. is reason enough.
Wow, love that jasper piece.
Wow you bot found some really unique, really gorgeous rocks! Killin it on the banded rocks. Possession is 9/10 of the law, so i believe sam is right! lol That one agate really did look like a botswana agate! Nobody will believe you guys actually found it! thankfully you have it on video! Totally smashing it Sam! Thank you for letting us in on the polishing of that beautiful rock. It was a great hunt and a nice day!
I suppose I only had 1/10 of a leg to stand on by that logic.
Oh how I'd love to join the two of you for a hunt in the future ❤️ I'm thrilled to see every new episode!
You'll just have to read my mind and show up on the same beach at the same time.
Awesome finds guys! Sorry Sam, but I'm siding with Rob on the big red agate. He spotted it so it's technically his. It was really nice of him to let you have it though. The agates you guys found are incredible🤩, well done! I love the green rock with red agate in the seam that Rob found. You did an amazing job polishing it too Rob. Really cool and colorful rocks at that beach. Thanks for sharing your trip and finds with us!✌️🤠
I didn't mind Sam taking that rock. I got a much better one later that day, but you don't get to see it until next week.
Score! Score! Score! What a great day🥰
That road IS rough, my Sienna is 4-wheel but I’m not going to try it! Massive amounts of rock on that beach, not shocked to see you found some really nice material to work with. Love the 3-hole omar.
I think that's a good plan. You need some clearance too.
Excellent finds, nice video!
Wow, excellent finds Rob. What amazing agates and other pretty unique rocks. Cool journey out to the beach! Pretty sounds of the waves! Well done on the polished seam agate, beautiful shine. Thanks Rob for always inspiring!
We had a really fun day. I think I would have frozen to death if Sam hadn't loaned me his jacket.
Great video Michigan Rocks! I always look forward to your content! 😊
Thanks, Ariel!
Oh the lake was so beautiful! I really love the shots you give us of the lakes. Makes me feel like I'm there again. I was glad you both had a good day. Lots of great rocks. I would like to see some more of Sam's tumbles too.
I'll be sure to get some of Sam's tumbled rocks in videos. Neither of us tumble our agates, so if that's what you're hoping to see, you might be disappointed.
@@MichiganRocks No, I wasn't expecting that. I know you don't tumble your agates. Again, I so enjoy your videos. Makes me feel like I was there myself.
Great finds!
LAKE SUPERIOR...Brrrrrrrrrrrrr ! i get the chills remembering swimming in that freezing water even in the Summer
It's not known for its warmth.
Awesome, just Awesome!! Thanks for Sharing!! 🤗♥️🙏🏼
The road definitely looked a little bit “rock” and roll ! Sometimes I have difficulty seeing the rocks when the cold wind is blowing. It makes my eyes water. Awesome finds on the agates ! Agates aside my favorites were 3:10 & 8:50.
That road is a lot of fun, but wouldn't be in a two wheel drive vehicle. I don't have a problem with my eyes watering. Windy is better, because the flies aren't blocking my view.
I go rock hounding with someone who is 12 years younger than me and they find all the agates. I find the petrified wood. The polished rock was super cool.
It's good to bring a good set of eyeballs along, even if they're not your own.
what a haul! so many cool stripey guys. and the polished one was amazing! 🤩 loved every minute of this!
Great job! Found some beautiful ones again. Always glad to see your videos. Do you have a favorite beach to search?
I like the Lake Superior beaches in the eastern U.P. a lot. I have a favorite beach in Lake Huron too, but I don't reveal the location of that one because I get there by crossing private property. I have permission to do so, but I don't want to encourage trespassing by sharing the location on the Internet.
Great video. Amazing rocks. Loved the KNC6 video insert. Looks like you guys had a great time...
I've been trying to get some lapidary stuff in my videos this summer. I haven't done a great job, but now and then I remember to do something.
the green and orange you polished is a real nice specimen. it's a real thumbs up.
We are going to Lake Superior sometime soon I hope to find some of the rocks that you are finding they are beautiful! Keep up the good work!
I'm sure you will. There are lots of rocks there.
Sam has a great eye for agates. Really like how the rock turned out on your cab machine. Hoping some day I can get one of those machines. Have a great day Rob.
I love my cab machine. It's something worth saving up for.
I liked how you found the rock and then cut straight to showing you polishing it on the cab machine!
I've been trying to do a little more of that lately. My thing is to find great rocks and then do something with them. Usually, those things are in separate videos, but it's nice to give you a little more instant gratification when I can.
You both hit the JACKPOT..
You guys did really well on the rocks! You kept picking up winners. Good video.
I was happy with this beach. Lots of fun stuff there.
Love the polish you put on that rock.
Thanks!
The polish just set off the contrast! Awesome thanks 😊
I love taking a rock that I found myself and polishing it or making something out of it.
WoW thats a nice one
I enjoyed the breakaway to polishing the agate. It turned out better than I thought it would. Thanks for the info on fractures. I thought I might have been making them during the tumbling. I just wish your video was longer. Seems like I was just getting settled into watching and it was over. 😞
I make my videos whatever length they end up being. I think we were on this beach for five or six hours to get what you saw. I could show more rocks, but I try to stick to just the very best stuff to keep it more interesting for everyone. I'd suggest that you watch more videos from my back catalog, but I think you have watched them all.
Excellent finds! 😍
Some great finds. I enjoyed this, thanks for posting.
EDIT: loved the large piece you polished on the machine.
Thanks!
Sams water line agate is my favorite. I’ve never found one and they are beautiful
I like that one too. Sam really likes waterline agates. I prefer eyes or fortification agates, but any agate is a good agate.
Really like how you stopped and did a polish on the rock! Thanks
You're welcome.
It's the Sam show. You guys really cleaned up! Nice finds.
Yeah, I'd better be careful or Sam will take over my channel!
@@MichiganRocks Did Sam find most of his agates in the dry stuff while you hunted the wet?
@@jimknarr Sam almost always hunts the dry rocks, which is one of the reasons he finds more than I do. He also has better eyes. I hunt the wet rocks because it makes a better video and I also enjoy seeing all the brighter colors more. I love finding agates, but there are so many other beautiful rocks to look at. Those colors just don't show up much when they're dry.
@@MichiganRocks That totally makes sense. You two make a great team. By the way, I was in Wisconsin dropping my daughter off at a church camp and as I was walking her to the registration desk I found a nice 1.5inch banded agate on the gravel road. Very cool find since that is not something us Michiganders can do.
@@jimknarr I watch the guys from Minnesota doing the same thing, walking roads and picking up agates. I'm jealous.
🙋♀️🌞The jasper rock❤ you found early on, looked like it was already polished!
I think it was just wet.
Awesome finds man, love the look of the seam agate at the end
The green rock you said was meat is very pretty. And the agate you polished is beautiful. I love the red on it.
The red part was the best part, although the green was actually really nice too.
Really good finds!!!!!!!
Beautiful finds! 😊
I would love to see some of the tumbled rocks!! You've found such beauties!! Way to go what a gorgeous place ☺️
There will be a video in the future showing them. In the meantime, you could look at some of my past tumbles from Lake Superior.

Great finds! Your son has developed a keen eye for rock hunting. We both get it honestly from our dads. Wonderful gift. My dad gave me a rock tumbler set in '76. Was amazed by it, & also gained a lot of patience. See them sold at Hobby Lobby these days. Although I have not tumbled any more rocks since then, I still collect them. Have always been amazed by what this beautiful planet has to offer. Great channel.
My son does have a good eye for rocks, but Sam is not my son. Sam lives across the road and I have known him since he was born. His grandpa was my doctor when I was a child.
@@MichiganRocks pardon the mistake.
@@salliemorrill2671 No problem, a lot of people make that mistake. My son is 23 years old. He's been a few videos, but not many. I thought it was funny that today Sam sent a picture of he, his twin brother, his dad, and Nancy all gathered around me as I caught a frog in our ditch for the boys. Sam is about three years old and has a bucket ready to receive the frog. It's a great picture.
Thanks guys
Nice finds!!
That rock you polished was really cool!
I thought so too!
Excelentes hallazgos
Excellent finds!!! The agates are amazing and the "others" are also really beautiful! Love the last stone you polished, I didn't even notice it was mostly green until after you polished it!
Oh man thanks for showing us the seam agate you polished. That turned out pretty cool. What a great location, if I were you, I’d leave Sam home next time; he’s hogging all the best agates.
I've threatened to leave Sam home lots of times. Then I realized that you would only get to see about half the agates in my videos if I did that.
@@MichiganRocks Dude! You need to up your agate game😂

A very nice looking lake ( apart from the drive there, and sand blasting
The drive there was half the fun! It would be a shame to own a Jeep and not use it.
Wish I could figure out how to spot agates. I don't have the eye for it yet. Thanks for sharing another great adventure
I don't really have an eye for them either. I find a few but Sam can really spot them.

From all the places I've seen you go, it seems like Lake Superior delivers the most colorful and diversified rocks. Beautiful finds. I'm gonna be up in Grand Marais and on the Two Hearted River in the fall, so I hope I'll be as lucky as you.
Are you staying at the Mouth of the Two Hearted? There are great rocks there. We were just a bit to the west of there in this video.

Greetings from Khabarovsk! As always, it is very interesting and informative. Good luck!
I had to look up where that is. Looks like it's on the Russia - China border. That's a long way from here! Thanks for letting me know where you're from.
I hate that your Go-Pro is blurring, but Sam's is picture perfect.
I know that the Go-Pro is a problem sometimes. I do all the filming with either the GoPro or my iPhone. The Go Pro is really good for the wide shots because it keeps the horizon almost perfectly level and really smooths out any jittery movements on my part. The phone is better for close ups, but the sound is horrible. I haven't figured out how to hook up the external microphone that I have and have it sound good, so I run my phone camera and GoPro at the same time to record the sound on the GoPro. It's kind of a pain, but I try to remember to pull out the phone for a close ups of small rocks. I'd like to get a better camera, but I'm just not sure what to get.
My first thought was That’s too early for me, but it’s for rocks, so I’m in. Then you said mosquito. Sorry, I’ll just watch. Sounds and looks beautiful!!
The mosquitos were only a problem in the campground, which is in the woods. I almost never have mosquito problems on a beach. Flies are the big problem on the beach, but not when it's cold or windy.
@@MichiganRocks lol thanks! You are fun to watch.

Very nice rocks! It was written long ago that he who wears another man's coat must relinquish to that man an agate. The beach is gorgeous.
Those do sound like words of wisdom. Seems like there should be something about the guy who needs a free ride home in the other guy's Jeep should think about that before claiming agates in question.
@@MichiganRocks🤔 sounds like that is your agate after all.

I have kind of done that in this video: ruclips.net/video/_kgta1BLOkY/видео.html
. I store my grits in Rubbermaid Take-Along boxes. I printed out some labels for each box.
Some beautiful stones Sam was doing very well, at least with that wind, the mosquitoes and flies were less of an issue

Sam you are the agate king!
Love it
Naturally drilled stones “hag stones” or “witch stones” have a lot of magic in them
They don't have magic in them, they have a hole in them. I'm a Christian, not a witch, and I don't believe in any magical or healing powers of stones. I like rocks, but that's as far as it goes.
That area is near the yooperlite hot spot 🤩
This whole stretch is good for Yooperlites.
That boy has got some eagle eyes. Remember being young and having eyesight like that???
Yes I do, and I miss it.
Unreal...Sam is an agate magnet; holy wha...talk about best in show. And I wish you could hear me talking to you...I honestly feel like we are OLD friends~ lol And just think if you were diving. Up in the Keweenaw, they've picked 80 pounders in the lake...sold for thousands of bucks.
That rock looks like it's part galaxy.
We had a wet suit with us, but neither of us thought the rocks out deeper looked any better. On a really rough day like this, snorkeling wouldn't work. The day before when it was calm, the rocks looked like they had some sediment on them out deeper. Besides, the water is really cold in Lake Superior. Even with a wet suit, your face, arms and legs would get really cold.
@@MichiganRocks You got that! Gotta have SISU to deal w/Superior. We used to jump in to cure hangovers. lol. Worked every time too!
@@LadyYoop Can a non-Finnish troll like me have sisu? I have jumped in Lake Superior on several occasions, but not to cure a hangover. It's usually because I was desperate for a bath after camping for a few days.
